Auto height div?

I'm working on a model of e-commerce site. It has different columns. Problem 1 - nav columns and column 2 - column content can vary in height. I want to put a div around these two which will automatically size in height if one or the other column pushed down so there is a whole area of intact. Here is an example of extending a column after column 2.

Appreciate the help. I'm already behind Sunrise this site.

Wrap your floating divisions within a division #container or #wrapper and apply overflow: hidden.  This will contain your floats.

    I thought I had a problem with my MM_swapimage in Internet explorer, but it seems to be my scale of images.

    Let's see your code, please.  Your use of ' = 'auto' width ' or 'height = 'auto' ' is incorrect because 'auto' is not a valid value for width/height attributes, and those attributes will not recognize the use of any unit on the value, as you show with 'height = "40px" '.»  So let's make sure that your code is correct before hunt us a snipe, OK?

  • Animation of edge doesn't scale to the width and height div parent

    We have an existing site that was built in 2007, but has been designed to fit perfectly with sensitive css, there were a few hiccups, but this was by far the biggest problem that I have encountered. I'm working on replacing a flash animation with animation that onboard animate cc 2014, I did, and everything went fine until I asked to play well with my existing Web page.

    I was playing with my files for a few days now, and I was wondering if anyone else has this problem. (I've been placing the code manually in html format, and not as a .oam) It seems that my animation of the edge, on the appropriate settings available, insists on the evolution of the size of the port view rather than the size of the parent div I put it in. I came with a difficulty of brute that changes javascript code so that the animation looks at 90% of the display window, but as soon as you resize the window, it goes back to 100%. Which is annoying because I need to be at 90% with a 5% margin/padding on each side (that's what the content div is set to of anyway, so when the edge host is set to 100% width, only go to 100% width of the content div that it is in) and even more embarrassing as that does not even begin to solve my problems with the desktop version of the site. As much as I love the sarcastic musings of my friend in HIM during the afternoon, I think we're both willing to entirely renounce this aspect of the project.

    When I tried to import a media file .oam that he just doesn't appear at all, no code, no javascrip, nothing shows the parent div and empty the stage in development tools (I check the code for troubleshooting purposes through google chrome).

    I'm really at the point where I hope I did something terribly wrong and I'll be able to save this new way to add in the animation. That would be the best case scenario at this point.

    Help, please!

    Here's how I solved the problem

    Configure the animation as w 100% and 100 hour

    You will need to exit mode suitable for it, also uncheck the option to stage at the centre.

    Then, I put a container around my scene in the html code. I call it class = "stagewrap".

    I then added javascript so that stagewrap would retain a certain aspect ratio but the scale to 100% width.

    That's what looked like my html

    My CSS looked like this:

    {.stagewrap}

    margin-top: 20px;

    Width: 100%;

    position: relative;

    overflow: hidden;

    margin-bottom: 30px;

    float: left;

    font size: 2.5vw;

    }

    Some of these styles will have to modify according to your needs or according to your needs.

    x is going to be your ration, which matches your width divided by your height, you can just divide the number of pixels, the units cancel out and that the ratio works for any other unit.

    There is the width to which your animation is 100% resolution without the scale upwards or downwards. It is a VERY important number to keep your overall percentages correctly.

    And z is probably 1, unless you want your text is larger or smaller, you can play with it yourself.

    "In my code, I wanted to also set it so that after a certain width of the window, the animation went to a static size so I did that."

    function setRatio() {}

    If ($(window) () .width)<= s)="">

    SW.height (sw.width () * thisRatio);

    }

    else {}

    SW.height (sh);

    }

    }

    s = the width of the window to which you want the size to go static LESS 1px

    SH = static height that you want the picture to stay in, this number automatically sets the width through the report.

    As insurance, you css for the size of the window, you want the static image to organize at all, the size of the .stagewrap in px

    I hope this helps!

    Add this to the top of your CSS file:

    / * set the values of default browser on all zero * /.

    * {margin: 0; padding: 0; line-height: 100 %}}

    Then add your own margins & padding to individual tags selector #header #content p, h1, etc...

  • 2 columns / 100 percent height divs (Firefox/Safari)

    Hey there:

    I'll have more trouble that I never imagined to create formatting CSS 2 column (with two columns spanning 100% height of the window). I have spent the whole day trying to figure this out for Firefox/Safari and am about to abadon this for tables.

    As the two columns will have different lengths of content, I can't get the shorter column to fill the rest.

    I threw up a beta version of this at:
    --
    gdsquared.com/clients/Ala/index.htm

    / * - This is the wrapper and the two columns containters-* /.

    {#wrapper}
    Width: 100%;
    height: auto;
    background-color: #666666;
    min-height: 100%;
    min-width: 50em;
    border: 1px solid #AAAAAA;
    }

    {.leftColumn}
    float: left;
    left: 15px;
    top: 15px;
    Width: 23.4em;
    height: auto;
    Color: #333;
    background: #E4F4F9;
    border-right: 1px solid #AAAAAA;
    padding: 0;
    min-height: 100%;
    }

    {.rightColumn}
    margin-left: 23.4em;
    margin-right: 0em;
    height: auto;
    Color: #333;
    background: #FFFFFF;
    border: 0px solid #AAAAAA;
    padding: 0px;
    min-height: 100%;
    }

    / * - End wrapper and the two columns containters-* /.

    As you will see, the wrapper (dark gray) pokes through depending on the size of the window (related content)
    Does anyone have an idea on how to solve this problem and keep the two columns spanned the entire height of the packaging?

    Thank you!

    There are a couple ways to reach the height of a column of equal when using

    The simplest method is a 'hack '. You must use a repeating background
    image set on the wrapper

    , i.e., a band of blue image clear who is
    the same color as your .leftColumn
    background, #E4F4F9; and the
    same width, 23.4em. The height must be subject of 10px.

    Then add it to your wrapper

    {#wrapper}
    Width: 100%;
    height: auto;
    background-color: #666666;
    min-height: 100%;
    min-width: 50em;
    border: 1px solid #AAAAAA;
    background-image: url(images/col_bg.gif);
    background-repeat: repeat-y;

    }

    There are other methods for javascript (link below), but using a background
    the image is the most common way to achieve equal heights.

    #1 the design mode is not reliable to test the merits of your layout.

    Use the Live View or preview in browsers.

    #2 when floating elements that it seems you are doing (we don't really know because you haven't we shown your code), it is often necessary set the CSS of the container parent overflow: hidden which prevents the collapse of margin.

    #3 don't forget to add a float of compensation to your CSS code once the tanks are no longer needed.

    Hello

    I work on creating a lightbox popup and successfully operate today using FancyBox.  I use just a basic test page to make sure that we/I can operate before going live with her on our site.

  • Problems with vertical expansion DIVS

    DIV_layout600.jpg

    (Dreamweaver CS5, MacBook Pro, OS X.8.2)

    This question bothered me for a while. I was not able to find a solution on the web at the moment. And Yes, I am relatively new to CSS!

    I have two DIVS, side by side, in a wrapper DIV (shown in purple line) to hold them in place left and right. There is also another outer envelope (called '.main", orange line) to contain the entire table centered on the page.

    What I want is for the DIV text expand vertically to accommodate any text overwhelmed in the event of differences between the browsers made.

    With this in mind, if I have to delete the specification of the text height DIVS (.featureleft and .featureright), the lower edge of the DIV tags will collapse upward until they connect with the last line of their text content, which is of course what I want, because it means, of course, if I add more text the DIVs will be expanded down to adapt to the additional text.

    However, when I remove the specification of the height of the packaging (".wrapper", shown in purple), the DIV .wrapper collapses up until its own line from the top, disregarding its own content (.featureleft and .featureright). In other words, it behaves as if it were an empty DIV.

    Why does this happen? Why he was unaware of its content? Thank you-

    Here is a general code that I use for the structures of the DIV:

    .main {}

    Width: 940px;

    margin: 0 auto;

    }

    . Wrapper {}

    Width: 940px;

    height: 850px;

    }

    {.featureleft}

    Width: 450px;

    height: 680px.

    do-family: Arial, Helvetica, without serif.

    float: left;

    text-align: left;

    }

    {.featureright}

    Width: 450px;

    height: 680px.

    do-family: Arial, Helvetica, without serif.

    float: right;

    text-align: left;

    Why?  Because your wrapper div contains floating elements.  For open lever, apply overflow: hidden to CSS of your wrapper.

    A few steps to follow.

    First make a backup copy of the file site just in case things go belly up and you need to revert to the original.

    Add position: relative; to the

    the bottom (as shown)

    Then move your

    named "containerEmergency" directly below the
    who added you position: relative; TO:

    Add z-index: 100; to the css "containerEmergency" as shown below:

    {#containerEmergency}

    height: 250px;

    Width: 250px;

    position: relative;

    Top: 0px;

    right: 0px;

    left: 720px;

    border-top-style: none;

    border-right-style: none;

    border-bottom-style: none;

    border-left-style: none;

    border-bottom-color: #F00;

    border-right-color: #F00;

    border-bottom-color: #F00;

    border-left-color: #F00;

    z-index: 100;

    }

    Add z-index: 2; to the css of 'entireSite ':

    {#entireSite}

    height: auto;

    Width: 900px;

    position: absolute;

    top: 50px;

    z-index: 2;

    }

    Add z-index: 1; to the css "navbar":

    {#navbarArea #navbar}

    background-color: #929BA0;

    height: 40px;

    Width: 900px;

    position: relative;

    top: 20px;

    left: auto;

    right: auto;

    do-family: Arial, Helvetica, without serif.

    do-size: 12px;

    z-index: 1;

    }

    Now it should work ok in Internet Explorer.

  • How do you text opaque while the div is transparent?

    I put my body to have a background image.

    I inserted a div which has also a background image.

    I want the div be transparent... but the text to be opaque, NOT transparent.

    I tested it using the following css:

    {#holder}
    background-image: url (background2.jpg);
    Width: 900px;
    margin-right: auto;
    left margin: auto;
    height: 1000px;
    filter: Alpha (Opacity = 60);

    {body
    background-attachment: fixed;
    background-image: url(Lapel-Back%203.jpg);
    }

    How can I maintain the transparency in the div and have even normal text looking for...

    the following link is an example of transparency with the text works correctly

    http://www.chipfoose.com/ws_display.asp?filter=home

    Thank you

    They use the best method to achieve the effect in my opinion, a semi-transparent background image. Just create the image in Photoshop/Fireworks and then export it as a 32-bit PNG.

  • How to stretch content div at the bottom of page.

    Summer messing around with my site so I had to create a new.

    However, I can't stretch the div contained to the bottom of the page if the page does not meet the content text.

    I have a footer at the bottom of the page that spans the entire width of the page, so I can't use the thing with the bottom of the body.

    / * Tips for Elastic layouts
    1. Since the elastic layouts overall size is based on the user's default font size, they are more unpredictable. Used correctly, they are also more accessible for those who need larger fonts given the length of the line remains proportionate.
    2. sizing of the divs in this provision are based on 100% font size in the body element. If you decrease the overall size of the text by using a font size: 80% on the body element or the #container, remember that the complete provision will reduce proportionally. You can increase the widths of the divs to compensate for this.
    3. If the sizing of fonts is changed in different quantities on each div instead of on the overall design (ie: #sidebar1 is a font size of 70% and #mainContent has a font size of 85%), this will change proportionally each of the overall size of divs. You can adjust the base on your final sizing of fonts.

  • Div moves down when the window is resized

    Hello

    Here's my problem: when I resize my browser window the main div is scaled up to a certain point when it just fell below all other content.

    How can I stop this from happening?  I have div the upper and lower the value of width of the car, so I can't understand what goes wrong.

    1. Since we are working in percentages, it's best not to use side padding on the sidebars. It will be added to the width for standards compliant browsers creating an unknown actual width.
    2. Space between the side of the div and the elements within it can be created by placing a left and right margin on those elements as seen in the ".thrColLiqHdr #sidebar1 p" rule.
    3. Since Explorer calculates widths after the parent element is rendered, you may occasionally run into unexplained bugs with percentage-based columns. If you need more predictable results, you may choose to change to pixel sized columns.

    It's one of the problems with the liquid (%) according to. In your default.css file, replace the top 2o selection rules with the following:

    {body
    do-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, without serif.
    do-size: 12px;
    Color: #333;
    margin: 0;

    padding: 0;
    background: url(images/main-right.png) repeat-y;
    }
    .thrColLiqHdr #container {}
    Width: 95%;

    min-width: 870px; / * prevent collapsing page * /.
    Auto margin: 0;
    background: url(/images/halftone1.png);
    }
