AutoFill URL quit & blank tabs

I was using Safari yesterday and had a weird thing to during use.

AutoFill URLS suddenly stop working for no apparent reason. Also the tabs I did after that the problem began, the tabs were empty, i.e. no title in them as would normally occur.

Quit Safari and the problem disappeared. Have not had any problems since.

Anyone know of a probable cause, and if it is a sign of a larger problem? Or just a blip?

Thank you.

Mac OS X Safari 9.1 10.11.4,.

I hope just a quirk but if it happens again try Safari extensions and third-party plug-ins for troubleshooting.

In the Safari menu, click Safari > Preferences , and then select the Extensions tab uninstall an extension at the same time to exit then restart Safari to test.

If it is not a question of extensions, try troubleshooting third-party plug-ins.

Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the tab Security Deselect: plug-ins Allow. Quit and restart Safari to test.

If it makes a difference, the instructions of troubleshooting plugins here.

Well, I know I'm repeating something you've read before, but just for completeness (and also, I suspect this isn't built-in Firefox page):

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab

  • I put tabs to open a blank tab, but each new tab has now google search images on it.

I did not choose as a google search engine - I won't be using google. I have tabs set to open a blank tab each time. I want a blank tab without the google search bar.

This is related to the behavior of tab instead of search engine.
Follow these steps, and you will not see Google as again search engine.

    1. In the address bar, type Subject: config and press ENTER.

(Topic: config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear.) Click on that I'll be careful, I promise! to keep the comments: config page. )

    1. Type browser.newtab.url in the search box.
    2. Double-click the browser.newtab.url preference and change the url to Subject: House to on: vacuum. Alternatively, you can change it to Subject: newtab for Firefox to new home page tabs.
    3. Click OK, and then close topic: configuration tab.

    I hope this helps.

I already made the topic: config reset and it does not have the new blank tab or go to a specific URL I type in address. What can I do to get a new empty tab? Thank you.

Change the browser.newtab.url preference, or it is ignored?

If it changes after you exit and then restart Firefox, look for a user.js file, as described in this article: How to fix preferences that will not save.

If it is ignored, are looking for an extension that is unwanted in the Add-ons page:

    CTRL + SHIFT + a button orange Firefox (or tools) > Add-ons

On the left side, click Extensions, and then disable all non-essential or unrecognized extensions.

Typically, a link will appear above at least an extension disabled to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links in the last step.

  • How is it that everytime I open Firefox, I get my home page more another blank tab?

After you install a new motherboard on my Dell, everytime I open Firefox, I get my home page more another blank tab. Never happened before. Help!

This problem may be caused by the MySearchDial extension.

You can also check if you have a user.js file in the profile folder to initialize prefs each time you start Firefox.

The user.js file is present than if you or another software has created this file and normally it wouldn't be here.
You can check its contents with a text editor (right click: open with) If you do not create this file yourself.

The user.js file is read whenever Firefox is started and initializes the preferences to the specified value in this file, so the preferences set via user.js can be changed temporarily for the current session.

  • Since the Firefox 26.0 update, whenever I start Firefox, it opens to a blank tab instead of my home page.

    My Firefox preferences are on:
When Firefox starts: show my homepage
    Homepage: http://www.foxnews.com/

If I change my home page, Firefox however opens to a blank tab.

I think I solved my problem.
As I said earlier, I started 25.0.1 and everything was fine.
This morning, I decided to start from scratch.
I deleted Firefox and all my computer files.
Using an application called EasyFind I find all files related to Firefox on my hard drive and deleted. This includes all profiles and preferences.
Then, I downloaded Firefox 26.0 and installed.
So far, the problem still happened.
    All right.
Thanks to everyone who has helped me and Happy New Year!

  • How do you prevent FF 23.0.1 to show a blank tab when I start FF

Up to 22.0 version I was able to avoid a blank tab when I started FF (blank page), because I've upgraded 23.0.1 I now can not do this. If this can be done more so where can I get a copy of 22.0. its either that or move to Chrome, too many things that were not broken have been fixed, like private browsing. I now regret the upgrade so I'll change if there is no solution. I used to download and keep every version, but got fed up with her because of the rapid changes and now regret not doing.

    Hello
I use Firefox 6.0.2, and it is a moment that I am facing this problem. Whenever I click on the little X to close the tab (sometimes I have to click 2 - 3 times) it closes the tab, but a new empty tab opens. For example when I start with 1 tablet, open 3 tabs on this page, so I have 4, I want to go to another site and close my first site. Then, Firefox gives me new site + 4 blank tabs that cannot be closed.
