Automated text file name?

First of all, thanks for reading. I'm not script so forgive my ignorance.

What I did:

I used the fusion of data to create a 44-page document. Each page is a single letter type with the name of the person in a text box.

What I do:

Export each page as its own Jpg, with the file name is the name of people. So I guess, I need a script that will be used to name the file, this text box as a file name. OR a script that will pull the scope < < name > > after the data merge file.

I searched the forum and looks like it has been discussed here: http://forums.Adobe.com/message/1875427#1875427
But I do not need to use a field that is not already on the page, as does this colleague. So maybe my problem is easier?

Advice or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much

Kayla

  • Text file name selection

I would like to be able to select and copy the file names so that I can paste the name into my finder to search for. I know you can do a right click on a picture and click on 'Show in finder' but if the images has an exclamation mark on it because lightroom knows not where is the photo, it it will appear in the finder. To update the location of the image, I need to know where is this place. I have several hard drives, and in order to find this place, I do a search for the name of the file finder. Given that the name of the file is long enough because I have my first name, the date, and the sequence number in the file name, it's a pain to always have to type the name of the file in the finder. I would like to be able to copy and paste the name.

    Josef,

You can copy the name of the file of the photo selected in the metadata Panel, in the right column:

  • UNIX command to the list of file name

    Hi gurus,

I saw post how to process several files of johngoodwin.blogspot.com.
But what is the command to equlivalent on unix to list all file names.

I want a text file will contain all the text file name and another text file will contain all the names of csv files.

    Need a suggestion. Help, please.

    Thanks in advance.

On UNIX, you can use the ls command to find the contents of a directory and then you can send this output and crerate a file out of it.

    ls *.csv > list_of_csv_files.txt

    ls *.txt > list_of_text_files.txt

You need to run it from the directory you are trying to find the content.

  • How to get Automator to export a list of file names in an Excel workbook?

I have a spreadsheet with all the file names of my Sibelius (.sib) scores without import/y attach files to a 2011 Excel workbook. I tried different ways to help automate it, but it seems to only be able to export .txt files in Excel. On some combinations, I tried, even lets link you to files that I'm not interested by - all I want is a list (editable preference) of my file names so that you can see them all in one area and check what I have / I do not have.

I use Yosemite 10.10.5 (I don't want to upgrade to El Capitan due to driver compatibility issues) and Microsoft Office for Mac 2011.

    Any help would be appreciated

I can't help you with Automator, but there is a solution.

    1. launch Firefox.

    2. drag the folder with the files in the Firefox window. (The example is a folder of image files)

3 - Select all the entries on the page in Firefox:

4 - Open Excel and paste it into a spreadsheet:

5 - remove the size and last modified columns. To remove the links reformat the text column.

  • Automator: using a text file to set several items from the finder?

    Hello

    what I would do:

I have a text file that contains multiple entries for files and folders, each on a separate line. I want to dragndrop this file on an automator action, he should ask me a destination folder and then copy all the files and folders in this folder.

I have my action, automator, set up like this:

    Elements of the open Finder

Get the content of the TextEdit Document

Copy to the Clipboard (I have not found another way to keep my text sort file values and let it not be crushed by the following, but it works)

    Quit the Application (TextEdit)

Ask the Finder items (this requires a destination folder)

Set the value of the Variable (Destination)

Get the contents of the Clipboard

Copies the items from the Finder (at Destination)

It all works, but only when there is 1 entry in my text file. As soon as I have 2 lines of text, I get the following error message:

The action "copy Finder items" has not provided with the required data.

How can I make this work with multiple entries?

The problem is that you only pass the only element to the copy action (you have copied text), instead of an element for each line (paragraph) in the text.  The solution is to use the action filter paragraphs to break up along the borders of paragraph text, which will give you a list of items.  In addition, you do not necessarily have to use TextEdit or the Clipboard - If you already have a file somewhere, you can simply use the action to combine text files to read the text.

With the above modifications, your workflow should look like:

Ask the Finder items  (ask for a destination folder)

Set the value of the Variable  (Destination)

Ask the Finder items  (Download text files) - set the action to ignore the entry

Combine text files  (read the text files)

Filter paragraphs  (paragraphs which are not empty return)

Copy the items to the Finder  (at Destination)

  • Automator - randomize the file names

    Hello

I created a service to randomize the file in a folder, randomize their file names:

I created a shell using Automator script:

    Shell: / bin/bash cd '$1' for I in *.jpg; make $ mv RANDOM.jpg $i; fact

I have registered as a service and also add a keyboard shortcut to use in selecting a folder to randomize the files it contains.

It works and change all the names with random numbers and replace the original files.

the problem is discovered only when I randomize large number of files (smth like 400-600), some files are missing from the file. No idea why?

I ask why you are doing this, but you have taken no precautions to ensure that the same name will not be used twice. If this is the case, the first file to give this name will be overwritten.

  • When the file is saved in windows 7, save the description with the name of the file by the text file

I need to save files much but don't have time to write the file name and detailed inform instead. When I want to save the file, windows 7 displays the window requires the file name and type. But I need another box that I can describe the detailed information associated file name. This will generate the text file that detailed information with the name of the file.

Is there a s/w or windows 7 can do that?

It is not possible to save a file without a name. You must specify a name for the file. In addition, you can add additional information in the comments of the file area. You can open the section "Comments" by going to the properties of the file and go to the Details tab.

  • How to export all the names of files in a folder to simple text file.

    Hello Expertise,

I am trying to load the names of files in the folder to a table in ODI. then load the data from there to a single table.

I am able to load the data from 100 files in a folder. using the concept of loop (used ODI gurus: SEVERAL FILES - TARGET SINGLE TABLE - SINGLE INTERFACE link to do this, but right now I need to insert the names of files manually to a table. ) My Question is "is there any jython script or procedure to load all the file names to single table with FILENAME column. ???

If it please help me do this.

    Thank you

    Shakur

    Hi Shakur,

Yes you are right... The operating system command should be part of the automated process, I mean if you combine these file loading process (Interface, procedure, etc.) in a package of ODI, then the command BONES to get all the names of files in the FOLDER should be one of the steps in the package of ODI. For this, you can use ODI OS command component.

    Kind regards

  • Export of Photoshop CC: unable to paste text in file name when exporting

  • A simple - dumping of virtual computer names to a text file

Hey people, I'm writing a script, one of the parts of it need to get the names of all VM and save them in a text file.

However, I want nothing but the server names in the text file.

    Here is what I tried:

    Get - VM | Select-Object Name. Out-file "C:\servers.txt."

This gives a file text as follows:

    Name
    ----
    SERVER1

    SERVER 2

.. and so on. Close, but the blank line between the server names and the name '-' lines need to go.

    Then I tried

    $VMs = get - VM | Select-Object Name

    Add-Content - Path "C:\servers.txt" $VMs

This gives a file text as follows:

    @{Name = SERVER1}
    @{Name = SERVER2}

    .. and so on... I don't want the @{= Name} parts

So I'm close, but I just that each name server on a single line and no other text or blank lines. Example of what I want is:

    SERVER1

    SERVER2

    SERVER3

ect... ect... thoughts on how I can strip out the other things?

    Try

    Get - VM | Select-Object - ExpandProperty name | Out-file "C:\servers.txt."

  • An array of names of files to load a text file

    Hi all

I have an image random flash animation that works with a single framework. The principle is it load files from an array of filenames which is filled staticly in an empty object to Clip on the timeline. Works well!

But the problem I have is that I need to make it dynamic. The client must be able to add files he wants through a system that works with text files (and I can't modify this system). So basically, it would download the files and the system would add the new file name to a text which the animation file it would add to the table.

My question is how can I fill a table from a text file?

    Thank you!

    OK nevermind, I found it!

    Thanks for all your help!

If you use an xml file, you can do:

    var myXml = new XML (fileContent);

And then drill down to access the values as explained in this tutorial.
