AutoPlay on logical drives option.

II using windows vista and windows 7. Recently, I partitioned my C: drive in windows vista using computer management utility and created two logical drives. I noticed that logical drives have 'Autoplay' options. In windows 7, I don't get 'Autoplay' options for logical drives. My question is, is - this property for a partition of hard drive have an option "Autoplay"? and if the answer is Yes, why is this option not in windows 7?

Concerning
KSN

OK?  I think so.

Probably not the best option since you're basically saying, "Hey - if you see something that is configured to run out there via the old autorun option - do it!" - so you lose some control.

Autorun has been "removed" from Windows 7 as a ' automatically selected and activated the feature...  Wisely, some might say.  A search on google for 'autorun' or 'autoplay' and ' Windows 7 ' would give you this part. ;-).

  • Several Thunderbird in different OS on the same computer to access profile on common logical drive

I installed Windows 8.1 under another OS on a machine who already have Windows 7 (and Thunderbird). The hard disk is partitioned and you Bird profile files are on a different logical drive available to both operating systems having the same name of player.

    I met two problems:

    1. While the new facility to Win 8.1 you Bird sees all mail folders and messages (and can get new messages from the POP3 account, this configuration does not see also within this same profile address books, and)

    2. it does not correctly send SMTP (even with the same account settings.

Regarding the last, I remember working with you Bird and its predecessor as the SMTP password has been set from the first use, but never appeared for editing purposes; the only time wherever he appeared was during the creation of a new source of SMTP. In this case, I don't see where I can re - enter the SMTP password. And, I tried to create a new configuration of SMTP, but it did not help. I have entered the correct password, but it failed. Any ideas on how I can get this set up?

With address books, even if this new facility you Bird knows where the profile (as evidenced by the fact that he doesn't see mail folders and messages), he does not see the address books. Still, I don't see where there is the setting of the location of the address book. I looked for the familiar file that tells the program where to find everything, but I could not find in this new facility to Win 8.1.

Any ideas on these two issues would be greatly appreciated!

I finally found the answer. I was able to display the users folder in Win 8.1. I just copied files of Thunderbird of the Win 7 Users\UserName\AppData\Local Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming files directory and directory to the same location on the 8.1 users folder.

As soon as I did that and restarted my SMTP has been fixed and all address books were available. (And of course, it still works in the world of Win 7, too).

From what I can glean the data in these records communicate key information at the Thunderbird not covered by the option setting for the folder in the program itself.

I don't know if the copy of these records is this 3rd party promise to help with the relocation of existing facilities, but should be.

As a reminder, I try 8.1 win on the same computer as a pre-existing Win7. I wanted to use my same familiar programs, including obviously Thunderbird, with the same configuration and access to the books of mail and same address located on a common additional logical drive.

Copy these files to the new operating system, as well as pointing to the new installation of program to the existing profile of you bird accomplished all of this.

    Hi Sir,

I need assisrtance again. I have a cd of companies healthy windows 8. I want to win dual boot 7 and 8. I am currently running win 7.
I created a new partition using diskmgmt.msc . I named it windows 8. I restarted my pc and then inserted the win8 disc. the installation started. then it came time to choose my volume. I chose my new volume. but at this point, the following got no button. He says that I can not start using this disc.
other players like d, e, f are also not working. only c drive which is the system driove worked.so I finished the installation. I even deleted my simple volume and then tried to create a new volume of my c drive (this means that I have this time takes little space of c drive, I took 25 gb.) in the disk management window I saw that it is marked as healthy. but c drive has been marked as being healthy (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Logical Drive). I think that's the problem...
    Please help please please

and this time answer quickly please

Use the Windows 8 Enterprise disk and create a USB bootable thumb and use instead of attempting the installation:

Select the drive (partition) that you created.

    Click on drive options

    Click on Format

Select the partition, and then click next to install.

Another option is to restart Windows 7, open disk management and format the partition that you created. Possible, it is listed as unallocated space and you he has not initialized.

  • HP Smart Array P410i - logical drive not visible in 'add a storage '.

Storage controller "Smart Array P410i" with 512 MB BBWC

    6 x SAS 600 GB of disk

ESXi hypervisor 4.1 - U1 (currently configured directly from the customer)

    Problem:

    1. If I configure the Raid 10 logical unit, everything works fine. A datatore about 1.7 TB can be used.

    2. If I have configure Raid 5 or Raid 0 or Raid 50 then I see the drive in the config and start-up (1 logical drive configured...) tool, but in the storage option Add, there is no disk/lun to select.

I refreshed everything etc, but only if I use the option usable raid 10 storage "appears.

    Any advice/help welcome.

Make sure your logical drive is less than 2 TB. VMFS limitation is specifically 2 TB-512bytes.

  • Logical drive missing after reinstalling XP.

Original title: I lost my logical drive after reinstaling XP,.

I have a 500 GB drive tha was divided into E: @ 128GB and F: for the rest.  E: held the OS (Win XP) and F: above all my music and photos.  After a fight with a virus of CPU, I decided to start with the OS and stupidly backup is not the F: drive.

Try to fix the instalation of XP did not shake the virus, so I decided to reformat the drive E: and reinstal.  I have now a functioning operating system and a 500 GB drive is recognized by the BIOS, but once windows starts and I have a 128 GB C: drive and no logical drive to be found anywhere (Windows Explorer, the Manager of hardware or disk management), I even tried free software versions dérirez / data disc, but they will not look beyond the 128 GB.

Is there a way to revive the old partitioning tables for access to the rest of the car, or at least recover my photos?

    Hi captain_karma,

Since you've already done a format reinstall, you should probably look into the software of data recovery of non-epreuve from the internet that can see beyond 128 GB or take the machine to a data recovery center.

  • How to repartition and format the extended partition and logical drives in Windows Vista?

How to repartition and format the extended partition and logical drives in vista?

    Disk management...

  • Can I shrink a logical drive and not the extended partition to a bare metal restore to a smaller drive?

The current configuration is a Dell T310 with a S300 controller, with all locations 4 hot filled with SAS drives.  The operating system is SBS 2008 (2008 Server/Vista), I intend to change the controller of S300 (software) controller, a controller (hardware) H700.  My concern is that the H700 brings readers a little smaller in size.

The typical arrangement of Dell's diagnosis, followed by a recovery partition partition (E :), followed by the system partition (C :), followed by a partition with a logical volume (d).  If I use Diskpart to shrink the D: 'partition', he let me with free space, not allocated.  Thus, it effectively reduces the logical drive, and the extended partition stays the same size as it was, with no way to reduce it.

The question is, if I shrink the logical D: drive and not the extended partition and then get backups of the system, I'll be able to a bare metal restore on the smallest virtual disk of the H700?

    That's what I did:
    -Released the S300 controller and 4, 450 GB, 15 000 rpm Cheetah RAID-5
-Replace the controller H700 and 2, 2 TB 7200 RPM in RAID-1 Constellations

    Results:
-Eliminates the possibility of falling on a disk space issue when restoring
-Increased the amount of available disk space.
M ' left with 2 free hard drive for future expansion bays.

  • Hard drive options?

    T61 - Win7

I have a ~ 90 GB, 7200 RPM drive. If I had to significantly increase the disk size is the only realistic option, replacing the current drive with a new one? I think remember me the possibility of a second drive at the time of the purchase, but you had to swap with the DVD player and the larger internal drive option at the time was 5400 RPM.

Also, try to determine the type of drive since always a pain. All I can say is that it's a ST910021AS?

    1. Yes, but you can use both with Advanced Docking Station.

    2. you need computer laptop 2.5 "SATA HDD.

  • I can create "logical drives", but do not have an "extended partition" - listen to me?

    Hello

It's a no-brainer and I know not often asked the question, but I have not found a satisfactory answer. I use Acronis Disk Director 11 and have never had to worry about "extended partitions. I simply create "logical drives" when I reached the limit on the number of "primary partitions" on my drive. And yet everywhere you look, I find that I need to create the first "extended partition", which is defined as "an extended partition is a container that can contain one or more logical drives." It is the universal definition as every definition I've found the same bed. It's as if everyone uses this definition even without really explaining what an "extended partition" really is. All have made a leap of faith that that's all that needs to be said on the subject, even if not where is it explained what is this "container" and how it is created. Acronis made a reference to an "extended partition" in his glossary (if I remember) and leaves the matter as if it served no more utility. Someone explain to me how this "container" is created and why is it necessary I can create "logical drives" without ever invited to create an "extended partition."?

I can't wait to finally put this issue to rest,

    Thank you

    Perri 26

In the past, creating another partition, the other then primary school, said to the user that an extended partition has been created and then immediately in the process of user intervention to create logical drives in the breast of the space newly allocated.  Logical drives ARE essentially the "extended partition" up to a maximum of three in the extended partition on an MBR disk, and this is the limit of three in car that was important to know.

In some ways, the information given at the time was better because it gave the user a more understanding of the functioning of the system. Nowadays, the vast majority of computer users are not experts and do not know how it works. They just want turn on and go... :-)

  • Cannot create the logical drive on Windows 7, only dynamic

I have a Lenovo X 230, Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit Thinkpad.  I have an another just like her, only a year older.  The new machine doesn't let me set up a logical drive.  The choice of unique menu in the computer/disk management applet is for dynamic disks.  Is it a 'new '?  I have added logical drives to hundreds of PCs in the past, including the last years X220T, with the 'same' hardware/software.  Technical support Lenovo says its "out of reach" and ways of Microsoft it is a seller to deliver.  I can still send the machine back for a refund or Exchange, but I get the feeling that I can have the same problem/question again. The hard drive is a SSD drive (as it was the last years).  Knowledge or ideas on this subject?  Thank you.

If your drive already has 4 "Primary" partitions it is the reason why you cannot create any logical pilot.

I think that using "Disk Managment", you will see at least a small partition 'System', 'Windows', a "recovery" partition and the 4th could be a 'Diagnostic' or another partition (hidden service partition).

  • HP ML350 G6 is only able to see 1 Logical Drive

Server uses the (no BBWC) P410i controller.

Running on a RAID 5 (4x300gb readers) however the LUNS just fall below 10% of the amount of available space. We've added since a RAID 1 (2 x 600 GB disks) but when you try to add the storage to the ESXi host do not.

Health status shows the new logical drive (2nd), but I think it's just because it pulls the information directly from the BIOS.

BIOS to turn the latest firmware (D22, 2011-05-05), as is the RAID controller (5.12).

Cases have been raised with HP and VMware, but both keep pointing the finger each other and we could not get a resolution.

I hope that someone will have some other ideas about how we can get the host see the storage.

I remember that I had a problem once with a P400 when I was creating a second RAID, defined by using ORCA. He worked with the help of the removal of the ACU and recreate seta RAID and logical volumes.

What you could do to solve the problems is to run a new scan, and then locate the vmkernel errors log.

  • DS3300 Design - RAID and logical drive configuration

    Hello

I'm setting up a dual controller DS3300 with VMWare ESX 3.5 hosts x 2 connection using the iSCSI Software initiator.  I have a question about setting up the optimal training.  What I read I should set up several logical drives, and then assign each player owner of another favorite controller logic.  I have 12 300 GB drives, so I thought I would create a RAID5 11 with 1 spare drive Bay.  I would create logical units of 4 x size equal and each of the 4 controllers will then assign that traffic is spread in the controllers for optimal performance.

A1 and B2 to go to a different physical switch (vlan) and B1, A2 go to another.  Each ESX Server has 2 vswitches each with a single network adapter with each going to a different physical switch.

Can anyone tell if the RAID and the design logical drive is the best way to go for a flow optimal iSCSI?  I'm not asking about this type of raid to use - I don't need a raid 1/0 or a mixture of performance - I'm afraid only for best performance of iSCSI for RAID5.  Can I create several RAID5 arrays and logical drives or simply several logical drives?

    Thank you

    Ian

If you have 2 controllers in your storage space then the best config (with 12 disks) must be set up 2 bays of R5 - each of them has its owner controller.

Included logical readers will have the same owner under the parent array controller. Logical readers could be about 300-500 GB on the size. A big R5 isn't the best practice because of the likelihood of the failure of the double disc (for example during the time of reconstruction). A spare part is a must here.

On Esx site I would keep everything simple - 2 network cards, a vmkernel iscsi port. More complexity you will get no more flow (with storage).

Just for notice - DS3000 series gives quite more random ios on R10 in comparison to the R5.
