Hi kmojo,

Thank you for visiting Windows Vista Microsoft answers forum.

Windows backup center and restoration functionality is not included in the edition of Windows Vista Edition Home Premium and this is why you get this error.

You can see the following link for reference:

Please let us know if it helps.

Thank you and best regards,

  • How to back up and restore the system and program files to install new OS

    Hey all,.

I recently bought a new Toshiba 1 TB HARD drive. My old WD 1 TB HARD drive was giving me the end. occasionally, I get the BSOD. In addition, on occasion, when I restart the computer it automatically runs chkdsk program and reported several bad clusters. However the chkdsk program never seems to report the bad clusters, so periodically, when I restart, it runs and bring back them again.

I would like to the image or to back up all the files on my HARD drive problem, then do a fresh install of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit (my current operating system) to the new HARD disk, and then restore the clone or image system and program files on the new HARD drive. I don't want to go through the process of reinstall all again, when everything seems to work very well. Given that the image of Win 7 program makes and accurate picture of the HARD drive, then use this program would cause the new installation of Win 7 Ultimate 64 bit to be replaced by the restoration of the image. Therefore, if there should be corrupted data under a bad cluster of old HARD drive, that data would not be transferred and my existing problem would be transferred to the new HARD drive.

On the other hand, if I do a clone of disc, I'm not sure that existing programs would continue to operate on the new HARD drive and would require a new install of each program based on the new installation of the operating system Win 7! I would have then lost my time to make a transfer of program/data files to my newly formatted and freshly installed OS.

Anyone know of any program (Acronis True Image, Paragon, Norton Ghost, Macrium Reflect, etc) that will allow you to image or clone the program and data (including the operational needs of the files such as: Win32 system files, files of activation, etc.) so that they will work properly on the new installation of the operating system?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Have a great day.

  • Back up and restore the iPhone of my mother

Hello.  My mother just got his iPhone Unlocked, but it must be backed up and then restored as a new device and then restored again from a backup.  It has its own Apple ID, but does not have a computer.  If I connect the iPhone to my iMac, my iTunes opens, but it is based on my username.  How can I do this using his user ID?  If I can't then what should I do?  Please let me know this afternoon, if you can.  Thank you.  Jerry Ritt

Backup the device the same as you would yourself. iTunes will take care of everything for you. I use my iMac to back up my devices to families who use four different ID of Apple and iTunes keeps everything separated and organized. Note that if you intend to restore the device from backup, it must transfer purchases to the Mac if your mother has applications that you do not on Mac. Alternatively, you can use iCloud on his device to create the backup, and then use iTunes on Mac to restore the device to unlock, and then restore the backup to iCloud. In this way your data of mothers never get on your Mac.

  • How to back up and restore the ESXi settings regularly?

    People,

Can someone please let me know how and what is the best way to save the existing running 5.1 U3 regularly ESXi servers so that when the host has failed, I can restore of plain vanilla install of the ESXi server without having to worry about reconfiguring the Distributed Switch Settings & storage?

If the process can be automated which would be awesome as well.

    Thank you.

If you are running Enterprise vCenter Server so your best bet is probably using Host Profiles. You can create a profile to join a whole cluster (if your hosts are cookie-cutter) or create one for each host (if they are quite unique). You can export the profiles from the host to the files somewhere else for backup if you are afraid of losing the vCenter.

These allow you to build a new host from scratch, attach to vCenter and configure everything (up to the vDS, domain join, politics of security/firewall, etc.). Very useful feature IMO.

  • can I back up and restore on the same beta software

I want to restore my iphone 6 to solve some problem, but I'm on the iOS 9.3 public beta 4 and I don't know if I am able to back up and restore to the same beta version. My problem is not related to the beta software and I don't want to go down, I want to just restore without losing anything while remaining on the latest beta.

Make a backup, archive, and restore it as a new phone, no backup.

Restore will install iOS non-beta 9.2.1

Update via Wi - Fi to the latest beta (you may need to reinstall the beta profile first), then restore it from the archive save set

  • Windows 8: Dell Back Up and restore

Yesterday, the dialogue appeared on my screen asking if I wanted to download Dell Back Up and restore.

I downloaded this, but at the end of the download, more dialog appears, saying that the first 30 days are free.

When I downloaded the software, I had the impression that he was totally free.

When I bought my Dell desktop computer, I gave my card details. After using the software, as detailed above, 30 days will be charged on my card? Or if I cancel my request for use of the software before the 30 day period, could I find myself money Dell?

    Hi Donny99,

The program Dell Back Up and restore basic version is available free of charge. This version allows you to perform backups and recoveries of your data, but the storage would be your responsibility.

A Premium version is available, which charges a small fee for the storage of data, continuous backups and store your data on cloud servers.  This type of storage would be beneficial in the case of a destruction of the catastropic of your local storage space. IE: fire, flood, incident linked to severe weather and well worth the small price if you have sensitive or valuable data.

Here a video explaining how it works.

In addition, the credit card number you gave at the command of your computer is not registered anywhere.  You will need to re-enter your card details to pay for the Premium version of the software DBAR.

Hope that this helps, if you have any other questions, feel free to private Message me.  Thank you.

    Kind regards
    Robert

  • Easy way to export and restore the virtual network editor in 10 workstation

I'm looking for an easy way back up and restore my settings of the virtual network Editor. I use Workstation 10.0.3 on Windows 7 64 bit and have several networks configured on different host machines. After Googling for the problem, I found the following:

-on a Linux host, the settings are stored in/etc/vmware/networking. However, I am not able to find the file in Windows. Source: http://serverfault.com/questions/535193/vmware-workstation-how-to-automate-or-script-changes-to-the-virtual-network-co

-on a Windows host, all parameters could be saved through export of certain keys in the registry. But these keys are at least partially unique on each host, and it would be a real pain to get the keys on each host individually. Source: Re: VMware WS configuration backup

-vnetlib control should support a statement "-export" which creates a text file containing the necessary information. However if I try to run the command, as described in the link, no file is created on my machine. The command must be ' start/wait vnetlib.exe - export path_to_file' (I am running this command of in the workplace, of course installation directory). I also tried "vnetlib" - path_to_file to export, but that did not help either. I know that vnetlib works because I reinstalled successfully the vmx86 with vnetlib service - install. If also tried the vnetlib64.exe, but no luck. Source: Re: virtual network editor

So is - someone of you knows how to solve my problem? I'm looking for a way to write a simple batch script that exports the settings without having to deal with the registry. My virtual network Editor loses its configuration from time to time and I don't want to set up everything by hand again.

    Thanks in advance.

The instructions on my site still fit for WS 11

  • I backed up and restored Firefox but my passwords will not restore

I followed the instructions on how to back up and restore my Firefox profile (that I had to do after a full restore of the system), however, my passwords have not been restored. My Favorites are all here, but the "Saved passwords" box is completely empty. Is there a way I can restore?

Try creating a new profile as a test to check whether your profile is the source of the problem.
Copy the logins.json and signons3.txt in this profile to see if it works.

    See "create a profile":

If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a profile already used in the new profile, but be careful not to copy files corrupted to avoid transporting more problems.
