  Hi the indoorwthrman, since your Windows determines itself as a "Windows NT 4.10" (Windows 98), instead of Windows XP, you could check something. Right click on your program of Firefox shortcut, click Properties, then the Compatibility tab. If something is selected here, deselect, you don't want Firefox to run without all the features of Windows XP. If you make changes, try to exit Firefox and restart to see if it makes a difference.

  Hi robmm76. I looked at the link you provided. It seems that the reason why AutoFill does not work for the address field is because of the way this field has been programmed on the site.   When I launch Firefox 30, my favorite bar is empty. I have to deselect in view > toolbars, and select new it and they appear.

  Update icon is the value to display in the status bar and appears when the updates are being installed.  The update log shows something as updates are detected, but are waiting for an administrator to perform notifications.  Record as an administrator doesn't help.

  History of the computer: a recent update of Windows 10 has crashed and has been reinstalled Windows 7 pro.  After this, update does nothing, but diagnoses online got going again.

  I can live with that but would like if possible challenge.
