backup of files and folders, then their review

How to open the backup files that have been copied to an external drive, after I used the wizzard backup? Who can help, I just put a new account on my computer and deleted the old account. I backed up the old files on my external hard drive. I want to know is how can I load all my files and folders to my new account of my external hard drive? I thank you for your time and knowledge have a very nice evening, Shawn

Because it's a new account (even if with the same name), the restore procedure is unable to put files and folders in the same place, they came (because this place technically no longer - if yes, then the process is done and the transfer is complete). It can create a set of separate files (maybe even under a new user name, if it has been stored in this way).  If so, all you need to do is copy the data as you would copy any other files and folders (not the main files of the user profile themselves but the data in them) on the new files in your user account and who will take care of the transfer. Here is more information about the restore procedure which may help you in the process.

Here is an article on the restore procedure:http://www.vista4beginners.com/How-to-restore-files to make sure you do this right.  It's a selective restore of a full or selective backup (not a full restore from a full backup) - but since you did a full backup, it matches your process more closely than would a full restore.

This is a GREAT article on the backup and restore processes in Vista http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/2007.09.backup.aspx , but he won't go into detail about the restoration process - considering almost as easy, of course.  But it teaches you a lot about what is possible and how to do it.  It also focuses primarily on the full backup process, but he did mention the full backup and restore process as well.

Here is an article on the advanced use of restoration (during normal restore does not work):http://www.mayankraichura.com/post/2009/08/06/Avdvanced-Restore-via-Windows-Vista-Backup-and-Restore-Center.aspx.

  • Files and folders in root appear in my folder of Documents and office

It probably happens on the Windows NT-based versions (has happened to me on a XP PC and a PC in 2000 that I intend to upgrade both of them soon). The files and folders of the program directory (C :) root Windows upward in the office and the folder My Documents. These files are not shortcuts and they show that they are located in the root of the drive, even if they appear on the desktop and My Documents. They can be handled then that mirrored to the root of the drive. I dropped a simple file to the root one test while it appears on the locations and then I deleted the file of the said test from the office and he left root. They don't seem to do anything when I click on them. It is not happened to me before. Does anyone know how to fix this? Is this a bug?

That is some progress.  Normally the desktop folder works the same way, where he will have a "location" at the top of the Properties tab.  This is a feature you'll see normally special "shell folders" as this (shell being the part of the operating system that see you, or the user interface).

If it has lost its distinctive feature, you can usually restore it quickly in the registry.

    1. First of all, make sure that you have a folder that is named "Desktop" in your personal folder 'username '. You will set the registry to use this folder as storage of office location.
    2. Keep Windows Logo type R to display the run box, type REGEDIT and click OK and give permission to the administrator if necessary.
    3. Navigate through the list of files (registry keys) on the left to find this place:
      HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders
    4. Look for the "Desktop" entry on the right (registry value), and double-click it to change data to be:
      %UserProfile%\desktop

The %UserProfile% is a variable that is everywhere where your current profile is stored.  Administrators and power users can use it to move their entire profile without having to define all those places individually.

    5. Click OK to save it, and then close the registry editor.
    6. Lot of windows completely and reconnect of re - initialize your user profiles and folder locations. Or just restart your computer, either way :)

At this point, right click and properties of the desktop folder should now have the expected location tab (let me know if not).

If you ever want to move these places, a little advice: make sure that you have specified a folder name.  In other words, do not place your Documents to store in just the G: drive. Instead, create a folder on the target drive and don't forget in the location (such as G:\Docs).  One last thing: don't try to define both 'special' folders to be stored at the same single physical location (do not set two in the same place).

Here is a picture of this registry on Windows 10 location, but these steps are the same, all the way back to Windows 2000 (maybe sooner).

Let me know how it goes, I hope that he gets all cleared up.

What was the name of the program that you have installed?

Log on as an ADMINISTRATOR - check the C:\Users\your old username to see if the files are still there.

  • Organize files and folders

I am the only user and the owner of my computer.  Mr. Gates and Vista have decided how to organize my personal files and do me not have permission to move and organize as I wish - I get the message that I don't have permission to move videos from the folder my documents to the folder my videos.  I have not authorized to change the other settings on MY OWN computer, personal and private.  your FAQS don't answer this question.  I bought this computer with your HP operating system, yet your cat says that my product (within a year) does not qualify for support unless I want to enrich your coffers of $50.00 / hour - not even knowing if you can help - YOU ARE THIEVES - I HATE MICROSOFT MORE WITH EVERY 'IMPROVEMENT' YOU MAKE to YOUR OS.  I NO LONGER USE YOUR OTHER PRODUCTS AND WILL SWITCH TO LINUX INSTEAD OF GIVING YOU MORE MONEY TO WORSE ME WITH WINDOWS 7.
    Ware
BILL GATES, MICROSOFT, the DEVELOPERS of WINDOWS - it's poor customer service.  I use the free and shareware programs that are as good or better than yours and allow me to configure and control my own computer - www.openoffice.org is better than MS Office.  www.Mozilla.org for firefox is better and SAFER than internet explore.

GATES and MICROSOFT, you can be great now, but there is a growing reaction, and I hope to see you fall.  Your actions and your contempt for your customers and our desires will be your downfall.  the more you try and create a monopoly, competition more you are ending your rain.

It sounds like a problem with permissions for me - what you want is possible.

To view your permissions, right-click on the file/folder, click Properties, and check the Security tab.  Check the permissions you have by clicking on your user name (or group of users).  Here are the types of permissions, you may have: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/What-are-permissions.  You must be an administrator or owner to change the permissions (and sometimes, being an administrator or even an owner is not sufficient - there are ways to block access (even if a smart administrator knows these ways and can move them - but usually should not because they did not have access, usually for a very good reason).)  Here's how to change the permissions of folder under Vista: http://www.online-tech-tips.com/windows-vista/set-file-folder-permissions-vista/.

To resolve this problem with folders, appropriating the files or the drive (as an administrator) and give you all the rights.  Right-click on the folder/drive, click Properties, click the Security tab and click on advanced and then click the owner tab.  Click on edit, and then click the name of the person you want to give to the property (you may need to add if it is not there--or maybe yourself). If you want that it applies to subfolders and files in this folder/drive, then check the box to replace the owner of subcontainers and objects, and click OK.  Back and now there is a new owner for files and folders/player who can change the required permissions.  You can change now switched to read-only (even if the main folder indicates that they are always read-only - you can access yourself as the owner).  You can keep them in read-only to other users, customers and administrators even (although they can support themselves and access, if they wish, and it is really not that you can do to stop it except protect the file with a password by using a 3rd party product.)  Here is more information on the ownership of a file or a folder: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/67717-take-ownership-file.html.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

P.S. Personally, I am very happy with Microsoft and almost all of their products and will probably continue to use them.  Perhaps it is because I have been largely trained in their use and have some difficulties, do what I want.

  • In Windows 7, signed as an administrator but get access denied to certain files and folders

I just started my new computer, set up my user profile and installed Quicken. He would not open the Ouicken backup file I had brought my old computer so I started looking for a solution and found that a number of files and folders have been marked read-only. Then, I started to change the file attributes to allow free access everywhere where I found them marked read-only. In some cases, there was an error message saying that the file could not be changed, so I ignored these files. In fact, my question is, why am I like the only user of this computer, being denied access to any file or folder? I gave myself (duh) administrator-level privileges, but Windows 7 does not recognize me as an administrator. Is there something that I missed when you set up Windows for the first time? Just a mess by changing the file attributes? Thank you.

In fact, my question is, why am I like the only user of this computer, being denied access to any file or folder? attributes? Thank you.

There are at least two issues here. First, Windows 7 uses a structure of different folders for pre-Vista versions and while there are files and folders whose names are the same as those used in XP, they are NOT records in the true sense of the word - they are JUNCTION points to which any user has not access - there is no point. Documents and Settings is one of these junction points - this is to allow existing applications that use the old pre to win 7 folder structure to run in Windows 7. See here for more information about junction points:

    http://www.Svrops.com/Svrops/articles/jpoints.htm

Secondly, I think you will see that the records that you have thought we have read-are not only in fact. A folder with the read-only BLUE box is NOT dead, and it's the standard attribute for folders in Windows 7. A read-only file or folder has a CHECKMARK in the read-only box, not a blued outlet box.

  • Deletion of files and folders in folder

Can I remove all the files and folders in %Temp% + C:\Windows\Temp?

In the past, someone in my mobile service provider broadband used remote control to remove all the temporary files for me as list above.  After that, I also made myself.  However, I still want to get some assurance that it is OK to do.

One of the reasons is that disk cleanup does remove all the files and folders in these places... so I think that it is better to ask before I do it again.

    Advice, please?

If the file is used as intended then yes it can be emptied if necessary

Unfortunately, that's a big IF. Used properly included programs clean their installation files extracted temporarily once the installation is complete. The fact that the record needs compensation means they do not as it should. Because this includes many 3rd party software developers outside Microsoft's control, you can not categorically say that you never have problems.

Personally, I've always never had problems. If you can't move the files to another temporary folder (son of Temp) and check for problems before deleting large total

  • A Bug in Get Photos and videos of files and folders in PSE 8

Today, I shot a few pictures with my digital camera, then used the Canon software to load to my computer that is running Windows 7 x 64.  The Canon software created a folder named 2010_05_31 in the C:\CanonPowerShot directory and downloaded files. Explorer Windows see the folders and files.

I started PSE8, has chosen to organize, then a Ctrl-Shift-G to catalog the new images. Organizer is in the thumbnail view. I've navigated to C:\CanonPowerShot and scrolls to the bottom of the window to find the 2010_05_31 folder. Oops, the list ends at 2010_05_13, the last folder I was cataloged in the Organizer.

I cancelled the import and switched organizer at the sight of folder location. Since I had already catalogued records of C:\CanonPhowerShot, all files have been listed in the left pane - including the new folder 2010_05_31. I have a right-click on the 2010_05_31 folder icon and selected import feature. The files have been imported correctly.

I went back to the display of the thumbnail, once again clicked on Ctrl-Shift-G and navigated to the directory C:\CanonPowerShot. Once more the list of files ended with the 2010_05_13 file. This time, I looked through the list of 75 records and found the second 2010_05_31 file from above, as indicated between the 2004_09_30 and 2004_10_01 folders.  In other words, it is out of sequence of collation.

To summarize: when you try to add pictures using the Get Photos and videos from files and folders, the window to select files is not in the proper sequence of ranking. The files are in the right sequence of classification in Windows Explorer. The files are in the sequence of classification appropriate in the left pane in the location of the Organizer folder view - before and after importation. The only non alphanumeric character in file names is the underscore character (_); There is no periods (.).

Since the folder is listed in the correct classification sequence in both Windows Explorer and in the left panel of the display location of the Organizer folder, I doubt that there is not displayable character in the name.

Also has anyone seen this problem?  How we report these bugs to Adobe, or should I even bother?

I wonder if the Browse dialog box has somehow decided to sort by other criteria.  Refer to the screenshot below and try the following steps:

    1. in the file > get Photos and videos > window of files and folders, click the View Menu (1).

    2. Select Details (2).

    3. click on the column name to sort by name - clicking again changes the order increasing, decreasing and vice versa.

4 try clicking on some of the other columns to sort by them.

Different versions of windows supposedly remember the last settings for a folder, but I can't ever understand their 'smart' rules to achieve this. Every time I open a file in a standard Browse dialog box or in Windows Explorer, it is often appears in view of evil with the incorrect sort order.

  • Folder options - view the hidden files and folders

    Hello

On this same laptop, there seems to be a problem with * Folder Options - Show hidden files and Folders.*

Every time I have to 'see' this option to display - then I go back to check/confirm the changes - but the box is new 'unchecked '. Despite clicking on apply then Ok to save the changes. The changes are never saved...

I have used other laptops of this same option and it worked fine.

Please indicate if I need to apply or change other settings for this to work?

    Kind regards.

A reasonable explanation from Microsoft for this?
To be honest I have never heard talk about something like that. ?:|

Since when you noticed this behavior?
Have you tried to roll back the BONES to the bygone era? Maybe some update is responsible for this.

I really hope that someone here will explain why this happen.

  • All files and folders show hidden after virus corrupted hard drive XP

I recently got a virus on my laptop which made all the files and folders hidden and says that my hard drive is damaged. I managed to get rid of the virus, but all my files are always hidden. I went to my computer and made sure all the hidden files are visible. This fixed the problem a bit. My main problem now is that all my files and folders are slightly transparent. It's a more of a nuisance than a real problem. I downloaded a program that would allow me to change each file in groups, but it would take an extremely long time to go by a record throughout my entire computer. I was wondering if there is any means possible to put all my files and folders hidden not Hidden to get rid of their transparency.

  • I have a problem with the files and folders on the comouter.

Original title: files and folders to HELP you!

    Hello world

I have never used before, so please bear with me!
I really hope someone can help out me.
I've never had a problem in 8 years when it comes to rename JPG files (or any files also), but a few minutes ago, I went to rename some of them, and I got the following error message: "If you change a filename extension, the file may become unusable.  "Are you sure you want to change it?"
I have NEVER seen that before and I looked and can't find anything around him.  I noticed that all my files now have the letters "JPEG" at the end of their.  I don't know what is happening.  Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated!
    Thank you and good night!
    (I use Windows XP 32-bit).

Thank you very much for your quick response.

However, I found by Google how to solve this problem, and he took every 15 seconds!
It was just a box which should have been verified but was not.
    Thanks again!
