Bad Alpha channels and different levels of opacity in CS6

I try to use a low 3rd stock animated and noticed that if I put it on any video clip, the alpha channel has not been completely transparent, but if I put it right on the timeline by itself, it went well.  It is very sensitive at the beginning and end of the clip, because it comes out making it unusable.  It looks the same when I go out.  I use H.264 with HD 720 p 29.97 preset

On what I assume is a tied note, opacities in my titles look the same on the timeline as they do when I'm changing them.  Really noticeable with the sample black on black below...

It renders as it appears on the timeline, which is in fact them incorrect. 90% should be much darker than that.

In addition, it does when I use SD (avi, mov and mpg2 similar) images on a HD timeline.  When previewing, it does only when in pause, but it makes this way unless I have crops...

This cannot be normal.  I have a pretty basic setup, so it must be a setting somewhere...

  • How can I erase different levels of opacity of a color?

I was thumbnail sketches using the Brush tool, in a single color (black) with different levels of opacity for the shading. I had milked on a single layer and on the other, but accidentally shaded shading on the line drawing and can no longer cancel/step back. I need to delete/remove shading and keep the intact black line drawing, but the PS does not seem be able to differentiate between the different levels of opacity and treats as a single colour when I try to use the erase special as Magic Eraser no matter how high I set the tolerance or selection tools, etc.. It's a simple sketch and I could draw it again, but I'm very rusty with PS and I would like to know if there is a solution in case I met this new. Prescheduled A below. Suggestions?

    Part three fix

Levels adjustment layer and drag the slider of Pentecost slowly to the left.  This will gradually move the nuances that darkens the white full.  Move the black slider until it is in the fleshy part of the shadows (black) and adjust the slider to the Middle for the best effect.  You will fix with this step.  Just do a lot better.

NOTE: you must change the blend mode of layer of brightness levels.

I'd be inclined to remove all the colors of the image as well.  (Hue saturation, B & W adjustment layer, but do not change gray scale)

Now select the layer levels and do a layer of copy merged top Ctrl Alt Shift (Shift Cmd Opt e) e

Now select the brush, and then change the brush in overlay blending mode (in the options bar)

Carefully paint on the black lines with black to strengthen and shading with white to remove it.  Need you a bit of practice.

It took me about two minutes.  Another ten and you'll have it right, (assuming that the original is a higher resolution)

  • Export with alpha channel and edges are jagged

I have a short animation which is mainly a PSD of a NC card with some thumbtacks animated on the subject. I have a local cable company eager to export the animation with an alpha channel. It uses first on a Mac, I'm PC. Any codec I use that supports an alpha channel, the outer edge of the graph of the State comes out shredded. Zoom in on the PSD in PhotoShop shows that the edge is not embattled, so I guess that's what causes the tip ragged to export.

Here's the grab of the export. With QT Animation codec quality 100, but produce the same results with DNxHD, Cineform, PNG, etc.

  • keep an a 1 bit image alpha channel

    Greetings!

I do a lot of pre-press and the restoration work for printing, mostly working with equipment that requires released as a 1 bit image - very fine line work and mechanical tones that will break or cause the moire if printed with dithering.

For this reason, when you work with commercial printers I've out usually images with superior typical resolutions - 1 bit 2400 ppi files, i.e. the same their imagesetter resolution works.

I have a request current a client that involves, at their request, to place images with transparency in Indesign rather than manipulate raster images in Photoshop and just out of the final 1 bit image and placing in Indesign.

So, I was playing with alpha channels to try to find a solution to this. Is there any image format that will support two channels - one for a piece of mono ppi (1 bit) 2400 line drawings and the other for an alpha channel that will be used to hit transparent sections in Indesign after the fact? Is this possible?

I COULD simply threshold - adjust my image to make pseudo-1-bit and then place the file in Indesign. But it's a big waste of space (the file resulting in dozens of times larger) AND it makes it more likely that someone will accidentally mixed the image during the RIP to print, thus defeating the objective of providing a high resolution 1-bit image in the first place.

Please, please, anyone out there have any advice for me?

    Best,

    Sean

    Well, the next day-

I read some more about how little coding works on different file formats. There is no place for the information/alpha channel for transparency on image 1 bit because, well, there is only a single bit, i.e. two States - on (ink) or disable (paper). If the shutdown state is managed like a white by Indesign, or the stop State is managed as paper and is presented in a transparent manner.

So what I really need, is a 2-bit image format. A PNG. While there are four States - on (ink), (off-white) and another way for transparency.

So I have 'threshold' converted by alpha channel and my channel of the image, then to export--> save for Web (inheritance) and selected 4 color PNG. Voila! Perfect bitmap 1-bit with transparency.

Now, if he is a pretty good solution for my printer and their Raster image processor, we get to see!

  • Alpha channels does not not how they should?

Hi, I'm new to this forum, but has decided, it would be the best place to get feedback on what I can hurt. I use photoshop for a few years and recently updated CS4 however my alpha channels do not work how I think they should.

When I open an image, I use the Panel layer and click on the little icon down to 'Create a new string' but no dialog box is displayed for me to quote my channel. Also, my understanding is that a black fill covers my picture that when adorned with white would reveal the image below. However when I paint on my channel by using the tool brush and white color just finishes of paint on my image.

Either by the way, I'm trying to use this channel to create and save a selection, I don't understand where I'm wrong, but any help would be much appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Alpha channels are an image in grayscale showing what is / is not selected. White is selected, unselected black and gray are partially selected so if you make a new black alpha channel and command + click top then you won't get that no pixel selected error.

To use layers alpha masking, you usually copy the channel you want to use by dragging the button channel new channel (you must drag the channel here, not just click on the button new channel), then any changes you want to apply. You can also use Image-> calculations to combine two different routes in an alpha channel.

  • How to add an image to the alpha channels

I want to add an image in black and white in this layer alpha https://gyazo.com/f3507eaa453f720bf7257ed9f7725404

But I can't get a picture on it. Any help appreciated.

    1) press A ctrl or cmd - A on a Mac to select the content of your layer or simply select all from the menu bar.

2 in your layers panel, select your alpha channel and then issue - special paste - paste in Place

The contents of the layer doesn't have to be black and white as it will be converted to grayscale, but depends on the type of mask you're trying to do.

    Hope that helps

  • Combination of alpha channel selection

I made 6 individual selections on a photo and recorded each selection.  I have 6 alpha channels representing selections.  I have creative cloud, using a PC with Windows & and try to combine the 6 selections in one.  When I go to select > load selection, I select one alpha channels and make my new selection.  The marching ants that appear on my image.  But when I try to add 5 other alpha channels (select > load selection, choose the channel and choose Add to the selection, click OK), nothing happens.  Mobile dotted have not been added to the first selection.  Am I missing a step, something wrong, or do I have some sort of bug in the program?

Try this: after loading of Alpha One as a new selection, load the others using subtract from selection.

  • subtracting the alpha channel

Then I converted a selection to an alpha channel, and now I want to subtract from the areas of the mask. I use a white brush value, and nothing happens when I paint on the mask. If I change the color to black I can add to the mask so I don't know why I can't subtract.

I use the latest version of the CC of the PS.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi DNB224,

Grasp at straws here. You may not have accidentally loaded selection? It can be very difficult to see the moving dotted line when you're looking at the alpha layer in the document window, and not at all if at any time you hid, and then I forgot to the unhide.

  • Image resizing loses alpha channel

If I open a file with an alpha channel .psd and resize it via the size of the Image to a smaller version and then save it again, the alpha channel is no longer detected in the new .psd file. I tried to delete the alpha channel and recreate but it just seems not recognized as having the alpha transparency when I open it in other software (for example, an excerpt on OS X). Can someone test this (Note: I'm using CS5) and tell me if they you encounter the same problem? It is specifically only passes through a resizing using the size of the Image and not by the size of the canvas.

    Ah Ah! I solved it.

I forgot that if the sum of the image layer contains even a tiny part of the transparency, it will use for transparency rather than the alpha channel information. In this case, due to resizing the background layer must have a transparent pixel slightly somewhere on the edge. Fill the entire layer of bg correctly done.

  • Change an alpha channel

Once I have create an alpha channel, how to edit it?  I tried by selecting and clicking on the alpha channel and then using the Brush tool.  I understand that if I have a white foreground, painting should take away part of the mask, while a black background should translate into paint, adding to the mask.  But often, nothing seems to happen when I paint.  Or, at other times, the painting translates to paint on my image but don't marks not affect "mobile dash" and therefore does not affect the mask. I already checked that my color K setting is 0 for white and 100 for blacks.  With the help of the CS5 13.0 x 64 with Windows 7 version.

My apologies for the newbie question.  I must be missing something very obvious.  I googled this and haven't found anything useful.  (Maybe I'm looking at the wrong words.)

    Screenshot 2.jpg

One thing I see is that you have made your selection of active sky channels, so you won't really the active selection when you paint on the channels.

Selections (ants in market) are not changed in this way.

Try to select > deselect and then paint on the channels.

Then you can Ctrl (Cmd) click on the channel thumbnail in the Panel layers for a walk new selection of ants that reflects your painting of the channel.

(or click the load channel as selection at the bottom of the Panel channels)

    Hey Karel,

You can use ProRes 4444, but in order to get the alpha channel, you must change the settings to 32 bits, while the alpha channel can be included. It is similar to choose RGB + Alpha channels and Millions of colors + bit depth in the QuickTime standard dialog box. Check out the screenshot.

I don't know if this has been covered before but I tried the following:

Print to PDF via the print of the swf menu

Printing on paper via the print of the swf menu

In both cases, the images appearing on the screen are PNGs created as a PNG from After Effects sequence.  They contain alpha channels, and the background of the swf file is non-white.  However the bounding box of the image is printed in white, so I have a sequence of overlapping of the white areas, which some occluding the image under.  With the alpha on the monitor channels, it is not apparent, but when, on paper or in format PDF occlusion is clear.  I don't mind the white background; However, I can't deal with the occlusion.  How can I solve this?
