BB10 newspapers like Logcat on android - Android app on BB10

I converted an android app to BB10.
On android, I used to get the logs of enforcement by logcat.

How can I get these logs on BB10? Is it possible to do this?

Hello

You can use logcat to the BB10 Android Runtime as well.

If I have deployed and launch my eclipse application, adb will automatically connect, and logcat appears.

You can connect manually by adb connect DEVICE_IP:5555, then you can use adb logcat as usual.

Kind regards

Imre

  • Not able to read the BB10 Dev Alpha contacts (door Android app)

    Hi friends,

I wore my Android app that exports the contacts into a CSV file that is stored on the SD card.

When I run this app on my device BB10 Dev Alpha B, it creates an empty file.

I guess that the BB10 Android runtime does not support the access contacts in BB10.

Is someone can shine some light on this issue?

    Thank you

    Hello world

I hope I can clarify what is supported in the BlackBerry Runtime for BlackBerry 10 Android applications when it comes to support of Contacts.

Currently, support is in place to add an entry in the Contacts list to either contact existing, or by adding a new contact to the list. This can be understood as write-only access. We do not query the list of contacts or save existing contacts. There was some security issues behind the decision to only allow this access level, but as always, we are open to discussion of different use cases.

  • Read Android app events

I have an Android app that reads the events calendar on the phone using the request of content provider.  When I Pack this app to work on a phone blackberry 10.3, the cursor is no event, even though I know that there are events on the phone.

This is supported in the Runtime Android for BB10?  If not, is there a different way for me to have access to events calendar for an Android app?

Contacts by using the content provider query works like inserting new contacts.

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Aliza

The team is actually aware of the issue, so it is possible that it can be implemented in a later version of the runtime.

  • Look and Feel of Runtime Android Apps

    Hello

I wonder why the look and feel of Android apps only differs from that of the rest of the development for BB10 Playbook & platforms. I read somewhere that RIM wants all their apps to be consistent across all platforms and that is why AIR apps and native applications have the same user interface. For example, the way that is menu. the color and size of the title bar, etc. But the Android Runtime Apps are always the Android UI 2.3.3. Will RIM work on this in the future? Or DURATION always Android apps will have different UI than the Native BB10/Playbook apps? And also they plan support the latest Android OS? Because it's really hard back in 2.3.3 so that I can port my app to BB10/PlayBook.

    Thank you

    Knockaert

    Hello

Since the Android Runtime is based on Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 menus and controls will be shown as they would on an Android device. Conversion of the menus and interface elements user who will be like native BlackBerry 10 apps could introduce a quantity important issues with Android apps brought as they have not been designed or implemented to the point to be re-stylized.

However, we are always looking for ways to improve the end-user experience in the Android Runtime. Such a feature for BlackBerry 10 was our integration to the new keyboard, including text prediction. We will continue to add features of integration like this in the future to reduce the user interface differences between Aboriginal people and applications Android Runtime. And Yes, we evaluate currently supported for a new Android operating system releases in the future.

  • How can I get the ePrint android app to print on the correct printer?

My home network is a HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A909 connected to the network wired (not wireless), and which is NOT active ePrint (I understand it does not support ePrint).

The network also has a HP OfficeJet 7500 has yet once connected to the network by wire (not wireless) and what ePrint IS activated.

Both printers are on my network 192.168.1.x behind a router, but not a proxy with separate IP addresses.

If I send a print by the 7500 ePrint a email address, he goes out on the printer correct (7500).

But If I print using the HP ePrint home & Biz Android app that shows to the 7500 a print out immediately on the 8500 - the incorrect printer. The app shows the type of printer as 8500, although she still bears the name of 7500 a correct.

    So I have 3 questions:

    1. How could I get the ePrint initiated by app printed to reach the 7500 a?

I like the idea that it is possible to reach the 8500 and 7500 a remotely (when I discovered ePrint after buying the 7500 a I checked if the 8500 supported that to find it does not work). But, if I wanted to keep accidental remote printing to the 8500 then...

    1. How can I print on the 8500 email? (Remember, emailed still prints go to the 7500).
    2. How can I add the 7500 a the ePrint application so that I can print to the 7500 a still without disturbing the current app ePrint printer that prints to the 8500?

Thanks for the tips you may have.

    Kevin

Hi, I would like to try and answer your questions to the best of my ability:

    1. How could I get the ePrint initiated by app printed to reach the 7500 a?

With the printed file you want displayed in the app, you must see the details of the printer at the bottom of the screen on your device. If the printer you want to print to is not presented, you can press the arrow to the right of the name of the printer and then select the printer at the top of the next screen. It will automatically search and find printers available on your network. Choose the printer you wish to print and it will update the printer selected at the time of printing. I've included a few screen shots of what it will look like

    1. How can I print on the 8500 email? (Remember, emailed still prints go to the 7500).

Unfortunately, it is not possible to print on the 8500 email. The printer must have the ability of ePrint in order to be able to do this.

    1. How can I add the 7500 a the ePrint application so that I can print to the 7500 a still without disturbing the current app ePrint printer that prints to the 8500?

See the answer to the first question

If this does not solve your problem you can try to install the HP Home Network Diagnostic Utility tool to check that nothing is wrong with your network printers

  • How to test convert AIR/Android apps?

I have an Android app built with AIR captive runtime that works very well.
I am trying to convert and test the BB10 but it crashes at startup (I don't have the exact error provided by the Asian Development Bank, but it's something about the .so dependencies).

I read on the forum that convert AIR apps with captive runtime will not work on Simulator. Is this true?
Then what should I do? There is no work around? I certainly don't want to buy a Z10 just to test.

The only option is to test on a real device. As you have noted these apps not functioning properly on the Simulator...

  • Android app brings is very slow

    Hi all

So far, I brought an Android app to BB10 and it works fine. It is based on the client-server communication. However, I wore a new, which relies on the caching of files and stuff to database backup which makes large average andorid phones. However on BlackBerry Z10, which has excellent material is very slow and laggy. I have a suspisions one of the reasons is because litters applications rely on Android 2.3. But no experience or help Blackberry developers will be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

    Hello

I just wanted to add that 10.2 has now gone gold! With this, you will get the Jelly Bean 4.2.2 runtime which includes a load of improvements to the gingerbread.

I suspect that many of the concerns performance will be improved considerably.

  • My Android apps are available for the Q10 (and other newer devices)?

I have a number of Android apps to the BlackBerry World, which are all listed with lozenges of required device software : 2.0.1 or higher and BB10 Smartphone: 10.0.0.0 or higher. Show all devices supported as the PlayBook and Z10 only. There is nothing on the applications themselves that prevent from running on the Q10. What should I do to make sure that they are offered to the owners of Q10? At the end of last month, I received an email from BB saying they were one of my apps to Q10 Portage (whatever that means), and that I don't have to do anything; However, the list global BB so that the app still shows that it is accessible to the general public only PlayBook and Z10. I have not received similar notifications on my other apps.

Use glass magnifying glass to examine your existing versions of the release, and then select the pencil to change the newer version and then go to the "Add release version" tab where you can click on the pencil under load many devices to change the devices that you support.

Unfortunately, we did add the setting inside button. When you drag to the bottom, the setting button will appear. We do not control the setting button. Looks like this problem is known, I contacted the support of the RIM, and they allow finally my application pass the test without need to change anything.
