The diode laser of any optical disc drive can wear out during his lifetime. It is a more or less normal behavior and each unit in support of a player has an option to adjust the current laser within a certain tolerance, in order to improve the recognition of disc and the quality of the signal of the raw data. To do this, you should be familiar with the repair of electronic devices, its nothing that can be managed by an ordinary person. Suggest you contact a local service center and ask them advice, if the repair would be logical from the point of view of costs.

Hello, I have a new Windows 7 Ultimate, 64-bit system, running on a Gigabyte motherboard / Intel Core i7 920, built in the last days. I try to read commercial standard DVDs (e.g. Titanic) on the drive to DVD Samsung through a high-end Nvidia 1 GB graphic card, through Windows Media Player Version 12.0.7600.16415.

NOTE: VLC Player works fully, showing that the material (audio / video) is properly installed.

When you use the media player in Windows 7, I received the message "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card. The options are 'Close' or 'Web Help', where the latter gave no information.

This situation occurs through the display of several DVD media are OK.

I downloaded a lot of codecs on the Net, ending up with very pixelated video and distorted sound under Windows 7 Media Player.

I have now uninstalled these Codecs and VLC Player still works AOK.

Where are you offering me I have Windows 7, 64-bit codecs, Windows Media Player Version 12.0.7600.16415 player?

    Hello

This error "Windows Media Player cannot play this DVD because there is a problem with the digital copy between your DVD drive decoder and video card protection. Try to install a driver available for your video card"is normally related to the video driver being unsigned. If your driver is not signed, you will not be able to play protected content, including DVDs.

Try to install the latest video driver and see if the problem persists.

  • my computer laptop allof a sudden will play not DVDS or games from the drive.

My hard drive makes a noise like it will work, but then nothing happens.  I tried to install a game, and the computer does not recognize the drive.  I followed the instructions for loading the game, but it won't work.  Help, please

    Hello

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • Drive Blu - ray BDX1200 play is not all content - sometimes!

    Hello

Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum, but there is no Blu - ray section.

I have a UK model BDX1200 Blu - ray that I bought there is a little less than 2 years.
Recently purchased 2 Blu - ray discs, I found that he would play not all content.

The player seems to be stuck loading the content with a black screen and generally sound as the drive is being spun over and over again and cannot be read.
I have to power off the power at the wall outlet to get the drive working again.

Specifically, I couldn't play most of the peculiarities of The Avengers, although I could get some of them to play by power cycling the player, and the actual film played end.

In addition, I couldn't play the Hobbit film, although I have power rolled several times, and the disc plays on the machine of a friend. I just tried and the film plays without problem, it's an intermittent thing.

I checked the firmware updates, but I already have the latest version.

Anyone has any suggestions, or do you think it is a failure? TIA.

    Hello

    > Also, I couldn't play the Hobbit film, although I have power rolled several times, and the disc plays on the machine of a friend. I just tried and the film plays without problem, it's an intermittent thing.

Well, I put t think its firmware problem, because the same disc worked properly after reattempt.

Maybe it s a question of laser lenses? I had some problems with my camera of player playing DVD discs, because the laser lens was dirty. I used special CD/DVD cleaning kit to clean the lens of the laser. Just an idea that you know...

  • Satellite A200 plays not only will not play DVD

I'm a first time user on this forum so Hello to everyone.

My problem is that my Satellite A200 of (duration Vista) won't play DVD. When I try I get the following message: "Windows Media Player cannot play video DVDs. You may need to adjust your Windows display settings. Open display settings in Control Panel, and then try to lower your screen resolution and color quality settings. Needless to say, I've played a bit with the appropriate settings and there was no change in the situation. In a response published in another forum, someone suggested that I ditch Windows Media Player in favor of something better. I thought that the alternative program, he has proposed would be free, but it wasn't. In any case, I tried to play the DVD with other programs and received the same basic message. Is not a thing of Windows Media Player, it's a thing of DVD playback. In addition, it does not matter if WMP isn't the BEST DVD player - I just want to play DVD! I wrote to one of support from Microsoft customer care and they wrote in saying that it wasn't their problem. They consider it a "question of material". I don't buy that.

Just a bit of history - I bought the computer second hand a good friend. Now, I don't ever remember playing a DVD on the computer, which somewhat confuses things for the following reasons. Just after I bought the computer, which is running Vista, I installed MP3 player software which has expressed its disagreement with the CD/DVD drive drivers. What I think is a quite common problem. This time Microsoft representatives were happy to help me and told me to delete two lines of registry keys. That fixed the problem to a certain extent, because now the reader a) still existed and b) could read and play CDs. But when I tried to play a DVD I got the above message.

So as I said, I never even remember reading a DVD on the drive, I don't know if the problems are related to the problem of shock of MP3 software, although it seems unlikely that they are related. Finally, the computer has been less than a year when I bought it and in all other respects, it has been very well (unbearable slowness of Vista by derogation). Unfortunately the extended warranty is now sold out so I hope this isn't a hardware problem. The fact is that, given that I've never even played a DVD on this thing, and he plays the CD without any problem (in addition, the drive can READ DVD, he can tell me all the chapters that are on a DVD and play the files that he - she won't just play movies), I don't think it's material. I think that there is a current bug.

If someone could shed some light on this matter, I would be eternally grateful!

    Concerning

    Hi mate

I m using the VLC Player as well.
I m totally happy! It s for free, it s small, don t need a lot of material resources and manages almost all file formats.

I totally agree with you. VLC Player is more than recommended!

  • Satellite A110: I want to play a DVD but it says: not compatible

    Hi I have a question.
I have a toshiba satellite a110. But when I want to play a dvd, it says:
    is not compatible...
    :(

Can't watch movies, how to... :(

I have installed some software dvd - ram also uninstalled, restarted the laptop.

    Someone?

    Hello

Are you using the Windows operating system that has been preinstalled on the A110 Sat?
AFAIK almost all Toshiba laptops come with WinDVD program.
I also assume the Sat A110 supports this software and you must use it to play the DVD s.

One question; What DVD did you play? An original or a copy?
The portable DVD Player supports different DVD region code settings.

Please check if the region code that was chosen on the CD/DVD drive supports your DVD media!

For example; you will not be able to play the DVD we s if the region has been set for region 2

If you have a DVD decoder (for example Power DVD) try reinstalling it.

If it is not... Take a look at the following site:

    DVD decoder not installed?

I went to play a DVD on my computer this evening and received this msg: Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because no compatible DVD decoder is not installed on your computer.
A few weeks ago, I played DVD on my computer. I would like to know what is happening. Any ideas/suggestions?

I tried to play one of the same DVDs I played before... same message.  Nothing to my knowledge has been removed from my computer and I'm the only one with access... "very confused.

    Thanks if anyone can help.

Yes, and if you install the utility on your system, you'll see all decoders.

The utility will also tell you if a decoder is compatible or not.

Using Media Player version 10 or 11?

the utility tells me I have no decoder... the only thing I can think is that if I actually deleted it... I rarely remove anything because I do not add a lot... but it is possible a few weeks ago, I have to get rid of some things (I'm quite cautious because I'm not an expert).   It is the Media Player version 11, I was trying to use... but I rebooted now 10 to see if there was something to update related that mess.

because I used the VLC Player successfully, I have not yet tried Windows Media Player (since WMP reloading and load the codec pack)

So great to have the entry of a person who knows what he's doing.  Thanks again. I will try the Windows Media Player later and see if I have his use of return.

    Have a great day!

  • My windows media player will not play a DVD

My windows media player will not play a DVD: Microsoft Windows 95 Version 5.1 (Build 2600.XP_SP3_gdr.111025 - 1629:Service Pack 3).  Download a free version of media player to play the DVD?  Please tell me the name of the upgrade and where to find the free download version, if so.  Thank you!

First thing that you do not run windows 95 if your build number is 2600.XP_SP3 it is a build number of windows XP.  Second, you will not be able to play DVDs using this version of windows and media player only.  The reason for this is DVD is a standard that a group of companies shut down and basically, they demand rights fees to use, it codec, which you don't have. You will need get a program that has integrated these codec (or find them somewhere).  Your best option for this is to completely abandon the but of the using Media player to play your DVD (unless you are looking to buy another piece of software).  There is a free option that I use on my machine Windows 7 Basic its called VLC is a free player that makes just about every format out there (not sure Bluray).  VLC uses its own codec (I think it's developed for the linux community orginially) rather than using the codec of the industry.  You can find the program at http://www.videolan.org/
