Hi people,

What are the options and best practices for the Logs of the system for all newly improved 5.1u1 ESXi hosts?

Do I need to have the Syslog server or it can be safely ignored?

Thank you

Evening,

Syslog is preferred, but VMware has provided a collector of syslog on the vcenter installation disc can be installed on any windows host or your vcenter. I can't count the number of times where I had guests CMTF or newspapers lost... Fortunately for the syslog which collects up to the accident. It is not necessary, but it's really a good idea without any real cost since you can use your vcenter host.

Here is an article on how to install it:

• best practices for placing the master image

Im doing some performances / analysis of load tests for the view and im curious about some best practices for the implementation of the image master VM. the question is asked specifically regarding disk i/o and throughput.

My understanding is that each linked clone still reads master image. So if that is correct, then it seems that you would like the main image to reside in a data store that is located on the same table as the rest of the warehouses of data than the House related clones (and not some lower performing table). The reason why I ask this question, it is that my performance tests is based on some future SSD products. Obviously, the amount of available space on the SSD is limited, but provides immense quantities of e/s (100 k + and higher). But I want to assure you that if, by putting the master image on a data store that is not on the SSD, I am therefore invalidate the IO performance I want high-end SSD.

This leads to another question, if all the linked clones read from the master image, which is general practices for the number of clones related to deploy by main image before you start to have problems of IO contention against this single master image?

Thank you!

Omar Torres, VCP

This isn't really neccissary. Linked clones are not directly related to the image of the mother. When a desktop pool is created and used one or more data stores Parent is copied in each data store, called a replica. From there, each linked clone is attached to the replica of the parent in its local data store. It is a replica of unmanged and offers the best performance because there is a copy in every store of data including linked gradient.

• best practices for loading the swf file

Greetings,

Using CS5 AS2

I am creating a website in flash (all files are in a directory/folder on SharePoint) and want to make sure that what seems to work well is recommended.

I have an index.swf with many buttons that will take the user to landing pages/content/other SWFs. On these various buttons, I have the script...

(release) {loadMovieNum ("name.swf", 0) ;}}                I could also just do {loadMovie ("name.swf", 0) ;} ?}

Transitions film nicely name.swf and on this page, I have a button that returns the user to the index.swf...

(release) {loadMovieNum ("index.swf", 0) ;}} Things back to index.swf nicely and the user can chose to go to a different landing page.

It seems that I am on the right track, BC., nothing's wrong? but want to check out. I'm following best practices for moving from one swf to another within a Web site?

Thanks for the help or confirmation!

You are welcome.

• Registration type of best practices for updating the mapping of cascading for account drop-down list

1. most bearing the name of choice in parent list values and related lookup has been changed in the main list of the external application, so the same should be updated in CRMOD.

2 to update the value of the list of choices, do we need to DISABLE the existing value and CREATE a new list of selection.

3. are there best practices to avoid the manual pick list Cascading draw for the record type account? because we have about 500 values in list dropdown to map with parent and related list of choice.

Thank you!

Mahesh, I recommend disabling the existing values and create new ones. This means that the remap manually cascading dropdown lists.

• Best practices for handling the elements and symbols (including preloading)

I'm learning to animate edges and I've not seen enough animations of how this is handled in general and I searched the forum and have not found answer either.

If you have many different elements and symbols for a project, what is the best practice to have appear them, disappear, etc. on the timeline? I ask this not only from a point of view based on performance, but also keeping in mind the idea of prestressing. This is a 2 part question:

Part 1: Using elements and symbols later in the timeline:

Given that the work is always imported directly to step in a status of "always you", should we place visibility TURNED off on each element until we need?

or must they be opacity 0 until I need them?

or should they be on visibility hidden until I need them?

Which one is the best option if you want only the element / visible until at the latest symbol in the timeline? Is how important it?

Part 2: Effect when the page is loaded

The question above have an impact on page loading speed

or is it something called a preload?

or do you need to make a special preloader?

Thanks for the help.

Hey, snail-

Good questions!

I would recommend that you set your visibility on 'off' instead of simply change the opacity. I suggest this is that when your visibility is set to off, the points of the object disappear. If you have any type of interactivity, with the always visible object with an opacity of 0 will interfere with what whether you down in the display order.

Part 2: Effect when the page is loaded

The question above have an impact on page loading speed

or is it something called a preload?

or do you need to make a special preloader?

Thanks for the help.

No, none of this has any impact on the loading of the page. As you already noticed, all the assets of your project will be load before displaying. If you don't want a part of your composition to load, you can do what we call a multi-composition project. There is a sample of the said in the API to animate Edge in the Advanced section and lots of messages in the forums (and the other in the team blog) explaining how to do this.

• Best practices for saving the files by sending an e-mail to the media?

I'm pretty much an impostor of AI. I have Illustrator cs4 (14.0.0) and the way I use it is to combine my creations of iStock vector files and a lot of trial and error. Sometimes my husband throw me a lifeline because he's good with PhotoShop. As a small business owner, I'm dying to find the time to take a course but at the moment I'm just floating around forums and learn what I can. Basically, I plague near the computer and sloooowly design and somewhat mysteriously meets. He becomes faster and is kind of fun, unless I'm stuck.

This week I had a problem with an ad that I designed printed of the Orchestra of a very small community programs. I send them a pdf file first, and when they see it on their screens using inDesign, they see the whole picture, but when it printed he omitted an element (a sunburst in the background). They thought that it had something to do with this element being in color rather than the gray levels (even if there are other items that have survived, and they were the exact color even though I was skeptical). I sent a file of grayscale, no luck. I emailed the file, but who apparently 'crushed' their iD and now they believe I sent a corrupted file. They are not very good in adobe, either.

I designed and sent no less than 9 other ads to other print media and online organizations this year and never had a problem. The file seems perfect for me in all versions I have open/upload/email me.

You can see it here if you like: http://www.Scribd.com/doc/27776704/RCMA-for-CSO-greyscale

So here are my questions:

1. How DO I save something like that? Is the mark of a rookie-pdf?

2 should. what parameters I look for when/before save? I read on the overlay, for example and tried with one of the versions I sent them without success. I don't really know which is the case, while I was trying just a Hail Mary here anyway.

Thanks for your time!

PDF is the way modern sending files, but what you can do is in this case select the art in question and go to object > flatten transparency

Then save it as a pdf or as a file when the file sending their zip it if they have computers based on windows or stuffit if they have Mac zip actually is good for both.

It is best to send it in the form of a then archive as a file.

• Best practices for storing the material ID

Hey,.

I would ask for some suggestions on my problem:

I have a system in which I use USB-6211 on several computers and it could happen that more than one of them is connected to a single computer, but at the same time as one is used on a computer. I found a way to read the serial number and I can assign this number to a name. However at the time of the design that I don't know the serial numbers, then what would be the best to store?

I think of a way to store these values somewhere, read it, control devices, if there is no entry, then ask a name store, if found, return the name and get the dev unit identifier selected. The actual data format is not really serious, it can be a simple table, a list of attributes varying or something else, because a computer no longer of ~ 10 devices listed. The real problem is the place to store them without danger.

Some users may have administrator rights, then most of them certainly don't have Windows XP, 7, 8 and 10 installed (something I can't really control).

Thank you

I was going to recommend an INI file also.

When you say 'safe' do you mean that there is no permission issues worry? Or that the users cannot edit it?

I prefer to use the feature "Get-system directory.

If you look at the entrance to 'Help' to get the system directory, it shows what permissions and accessibity you can expect any given directory.

'C:\ProgramData\' is a directory hidden by default and I have found that trying to tell other users how to find a hidden directory to be more harm than what it was worth.

• charge battery for the first time and the best practices for maintaining the life of the new PC laptop battery

Received my first laptop as a gift today (Pavilion touchsmart 15-n287cl). You need to know 1. How long to charge it for the first time or first several times; 2 do you need to unload and reload between each use completely and how long should it take to charge an average before being used again. 3. Since no instructions is a good idea to leave it plugged when you use all the time or the battery should be removed to improve the conservation of life?

Thank you in advance, it has taken a lot of time to migrate from the desktop. Want it to be a positive experience.

Hello

Modern batteries and chargers are now smarter than you.

1. you can plugin and immediately to use the machine, the machine will stop charge when the battery is fully charged.

2. No, we don't need to unload completely between uses, then as above. The recommendation is sometimes we run machine on battery until that up to 10%.

3. when using AC is a way to protect the unit during the failure of current, all of a sudden, leaving battery on laptop.

• Best practices for business rules

Our business rules have
Difficulty ([cost center])

to extract Center cost of the user of its form to make it work faster.

What is the best practice for running the same rule of business, but for all Center cost? Will it put this business rule in a menu somewhere and let him invite users to manually type "Cost Center" so that the business rule treats all cost centers?
Thank you.
David

We always use the method that John described. Having two versions of the same business rule. Accepting a guest of execution for the "user" of the business rule version. Another fixed on all the level zero for the 'admin' of the business rule version.

• [ADF, JDev12.1.3] Best practices for maintaining a form validation

Hallo,

in my application, I need to create a registration form which contains fields that must be validated (for example they should follow a format like e-mail, phone number, tax code,...).

If the data inserted by the user are ok, a new record in my custom db table Users will be created.

I would like to know which are the best practices for maintaining the validation, which means the place where the controls must be made and a message to the user who fills out the form when something goes wrong.

The best vo or EO or managed bean? Or some controls should be put in the OS, others in the VO and other in the managed bean?

I would be happy if you could give me some examples.

Thank you

Federico

Assuming you want the validation on the value of the field to any screen data can be entered in (and possibly web services that rely on the same BC ADF) then put the validation on the definition of the attribute in the EO.

If you want to add a little more friendliness and eliminate some of the network traffic to the server, you can also implement the validation client in your page - for example by using the regular expression validator.

• Best practices for deferred loading collection once but ensuring there?

I'm confused on best practices for managing the "setup" of the form, where I need a remote call to occur once only once for the form, but I also need to make use of this collection for a combobox that will change when different lines in the DataGrid or clicked. Easier if I just explain...

1. You click on a row in a datagrid control to modify an object (for this example we will say it is an "employee")
2. The form you go must have a collection of objects 'Department' charged by a remote call. This collection of departments should only occur once, since it is not common for them to change. The departments collection is used to fill a combobox in form.
3. You need to understand what Department of the comboBox control is the property selectedIndex by iterating over the departments and find one that fits the employee.department.id

Individually, I know how I can do all of the above, but because of the asynchronous nature of Flex, I'm having hard time setting up things. Here are a few questions...

My first thought was just put the loading of the departments in an init() method on the employeeForm who would load as an event on the form creationComplete(). On the component page grid when the event handler by clicking a line of fire, I then calls the setup() method on my employeeForm which stands at which selectedIndex to set to the combobox control looking at the departments.

The problem is the resultHandler for the load of the departments could not returned (so departments could not be there when "setUp" is called), but I can't put my business logic to determine the correct combobox in the departmentResultHandler because it would mean that I would always have whenever I don't want the fire of the call to the remote server object.

I have to miss a single best practice? Suggestions welcome.

Hi there rickcr

It is pretty rough and you need to make a few storage upward, but take a look below.

http://www.Adobe.com/2006/mxml"layout ="absolute">

Import mx.controls.Alert;
Import mx.collections.ArrayCollection;

private var comboData:ArrayCollection;

private void Setup (): void {}
If {(comboData)
Alert.Show ("data are present")
populateForm()
} else {}
Alert.Show ("data not '")
getData();
}
}

private void getData (): void {}
comboData = new ArrayCollection();
The result of this call, the installer again
}

private function populateForm (): void {}
fill out your form
}
]]>

I think this example type of watch you want. When you first click on tab 2 there is no data. When you click on tab 2 once again, there is. The data for your combo will be stored in comboData. When the component gets created first the comboData is not instansiated, just romance. This allows you to say

If (comboData)

This means that if the variable contains your data, you can fill out the form. Initially it is not so now the else condition, you can call your data and return the result of your data then you can say

comboData = new ArrayCollection(), put the data in it and remember the installation again. This time comboData is populayed and is so it will run the method populate the form and you can decide which selected item to affect.

If it is on a large scale you want to look into the creation of a suitable handler class to handle this, but this simple demo shows you can test to see if the data is different.

Hope it helps and gives you some ideas.

• What are the best practices for a new employee to learn inside the instance of their business of Eloqua as efficiently as possible?

We have companies everything changed at some point in our lives. And we all go through the process in the first weeks, where you feel new and are just trying to figure out how not to get lost on your way in the mornings.

On top of that, trying to familiarize yourself with your new company Eloqua instance can be a daunting task, especially if it's a large organization.

What are the best practices for new employees to learn as efficiently and effectively as possible?

I am in this situation right now. Moved to a much larger organization. It is a huge task trying to understand all the ins and outs not only society, but also of the eloqua instance, especially when she is complex with many points of integration. I find that most of the learning happens when I really go do the work. I spent a ton of time going through the programs, documentation, integrations, etc., but after awhile, it's all just words on a page and not absorbed.

The biggest thing that I recommend is to learn how and why things are made the way they are currently, ask lots of questions, don't assume not that things work the same as they did with your previous employer.

Download some base in place level benchmarks to demonstrate additional improvement.

Make a list of tasks in the long term. As a new pair of eyes, make a list of things you'd like to improve.

• Best practices for adding form fillable form designer EULA & forcing acceptance by the user

What are created the best practices for adding a license agreement end user to a form with LiveCycle Designer. and to force the user to signify the acceptance of the EULA before access inside the form?

Time, I have the kludged with a series of four message boxes (which is necessary because my LICENSE agreement, like most) is too long to fit in a single messageBox). 3 first message boxes have OK/Cancel buttons. If the user clicks OK, she gets the following message EULA box; If she clicks cancel the form closes. The last post (fourth) area a Yes/No buttons with the corresponding behavior. It seems that the work (I think?), but it's ugly. Is there an "easy way" to do it with a single drop-down dialog box "I agree" and "I refuse" custom buttons?

I've seen references to Tools like this but they are marked as obsolete or abandoned due to security or other unspecified concerns.

Best, Blake

Another way might be, keep the form pages hidden at the beginning and only display a single page that has text box that contains the EULA with accept and refuse to scroll buttons. IF someone refuses, you can keep the rest of the hidden form or display message boxes to force acceptance of the EULA.

If anyone agrees, you can simply hide the EULA page, and display form pages.

I hope that used here too scripting required to reach it either.
