BING

My message is a faint echo of previous complaints, so I really don't expect you to do something about this...

but, here goes - I don't want BING on my computer - I did not ask BING - I want removed from BING, today.

Hello Wordman,

Thank you for your message.  Here's how to remove Bing of IE7 and IE8.

Internet Explore 7

In the upper right corner of Internet Explorer 7, in the search box there is a magnifying glass and a drop-down arrow.
Click on the drop down arrow and select change default search.
In the window that appears, select the research phase and click on delete.

Internet explore 8

Click Tools > manage add-ons
Click on search engines > click on Bing (Note: you must have another search provider entered or bing is not removed, because IE will not remove the default search provider.)  At the bottom left of the window, you can choose to search again search engines to add your search engine of choice)
After you have added the search engine you prefer
Select Bing, then click on remove.
You can also choose to keep Bing and set the search provider, you want to be default, click on set as default.

Please let us know if that answers your question.

See you soon

    1. Type of about:config in the address bar of Firefox
    2. Locate the browser.newtab.url string

    4. Restart Firefox

  • Cannot connect account MSN (Bing) Firefox (Win10)

I have the latest version of Firefox and Windows 10. I clear my history and cookies a week and thereafter, this time, I can't connect to my Microsoft Account on Bing as my home page. It gives me an error message of invalid certificate. My computer will also not go into mode 'sleep' now. Related or coincidence?

The most common reason for the 'sec_error_bad_signature' many sites seems to be the shield of Web of Avast. Web Shield intercepts your navigation and filter, but to filter sites secure, it has "fake" certificates for Firefox. Avast have set Firefox to rely on its false certificates, but which seems to fail on a regular basis.

To test this theory, try disabling scanning of encrypted sites. I saw these steps in another post:

    1. Open the Avast dashboard on an affected system.
    2. Select settings in the left side menu.
    3. Adopt a Protection Active.
    4. Click on customize next to the Web Shield.
    5. Uncheck the option "Enable HTTPS analysis", and then click ok

If that solves the problem, but you want to filter encrypted communication, you need to import the Avast! signature in Firefox Certificate Manager of certificates, References tab.

  • I'm falling into Bing via an intermediary of my field of research on Safari

When I do a search on the internet on my MacBook Pro running OSX 10.11.6 and I press on enter, I get an address that begins something like 'smakleckleck' and then I fell into Bing when I chose Google as my search engine.  I deleted my story, but it still happens and I ran my anti-virus without result software. How to stop what is happening?

You probably installed some sort of adware. If you're lucky this app can clean it for you: https://www.malwarebytes.com/antimalware/mac/

  • I am trying to drop Bing and Mozilla do my browzer, but I fogot my Mozilla password, help!

OK, now my login and my password must be defined.
If I do my main browser Mozilla it replaces Bing, right?
All my emails are always going to my Yahoo account?
    Is anything going to change?

If Mozilla become my main browser and my email account still works, I'll be happy.

    How do I?

Bing is a web service, not a browser.

Firefox is a great browser, not a courier service.

Your password to your e-mail Bing remains the same any browser you use.

  • When I click on Newtab, I get Bing instead of Google

When I click the Newtab button, I get Bing instead of Google. This has been plaguing me for months.

Here's how you can change your new tab page:

    (1) in a new tab, type or paste Subject: config in the address bar and press ENTER. Click on the button promising to be careful.

    (2) in the search above the list box, type or paste newtab and make a pause so that the list is filtered

    (3) double-click the preference browser.newtab.url and enter your favorite page:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Press Ctrl + t to open a new tab and check that it worked. Fixed?

If the problems persist, some potential diagnoses and remedies:

If Firefox will not let you change this setting: you can have what is called SearchProtect on your system. This must be removed the control panel.

Firefox if allows you to save your changes, but he doesn't know: one of your extensions may be the substitution of her. You can consult, disable and/or remove extensions on page modules. Either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then, take a critical look on the list on the right and turn off (or remove) something unknown.

If the modification works during your session, but during the next startup is return to the unwanted page: you could have a user.js file in your personal settings Firefox (your Firefox profile folder). This article describes how to track down and delete the file: How to fix preferences that will not save.

    A little luck?

It will depend on if it's a valid update or not. It is possible to do a clean reinstall and a malware scan to be sure. Troubleshooting Firefox problems caused by malicious software and:

Some Firefox problems can be solved by performing a clean reinstall. This means that you delete your Firefox program files, and then reinstall Firefox. This process does not delete your Firefox profile (such as bookmarks and passwords) data, since this information is stored in a different location.

To do a clean reinstall of Firefox, follow these steps: Note: you can print these steps or consult them in another browser.

    1. Download the latest version of Firefox from mozilla.org office (or choose the download for your operating system and language on this page) and save the file to install it on your computer.
    2. Once the download is complete, close all Firefox Windows (or open the Firefox menu

      Click the close button

      ).

    3. Remove the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
      • Windows:

        • C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
        • C:\Program Files (x 86) \Mozilla Firefox
      • Mac: Delete Firefox in the Applications folder.
      • Linux: If you have installed Firefox with the distribution-based package manager, you must use the same way to uninstall: see Install Firefox on Linux. If you have downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
    4. Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
      1. Double-click on the downloaded Setup file and go through the steps in the installation wizard.
      2. Once the wizard is completed, click to open Firefox directly after clicking the Finish button.

More information on the resettlement of Firefox can be found here.

WARNING: Do not use an uninstaller to third parties as part of this process. This could permanently delete your Firefox profile data, including but not limited to, extensions, cache, cookies, bookmarks, personal settings and passwords saved. They can be retrieved easily unless they have been backed up on an external device! See back up and restore the information contained in the profiles of Firefox.

Please report to say if this helped you!

    Thank you.

  • New tab always opens Bing, but about: config does not have listed options...

I have a question where my home page has been changed to the Bing home page, and after I corrected it seems now that any time I opened a new tab, it goes straight to the Bing...
I found a solution to this in another thread, but it seems to be incorrect for my browser.

type: newtab is the third option down that says searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser. Double-click on it and where it says 'true', ' false '.

As indicated in the filename of the image as an attachment, there is no "searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser" on this page?
So, I'm always curious about a correction for this problem!

Don't know where you find this - searchinnewtabeenabledbyuser - pref pref invalid, does not exist by default. Could be added pref by an extension, for anyone who posted.

Browser.newtab.URL is the pref you want - right click and select reset
    Then restart Firefox.

  • Cannot remove the bing.vc start page.

I have tried everything I can find to stop the bing.vc to open start page in firefox version 39 and so far nothing has worked. I can't find a reference to in about: config. firefox update did not help; No Add-ons refer to him and protect the pipes or research do not appear to uninstall programs in Control Panel. No malware removal tool has no effect on it and I used everything that was recommended on the Mozilla support site. Help please!

No, I do not use the subject: Firefox home start page. I use Yahoo.com as my start page. I tried the Preferences section and removed my Bing search ad. It contains a list of Yahoo as my home page and I also ran Malware bytes, Ccleaner, Spybot S and D, Super Spyware Blaster and other recommended online. I've also scanned with AVG. None of them have picked up something suspicious. I'll try a line like Panda Cloud AV scanner Thanks again for your help.

For some unknown reason, Bing.vc is gone. Don't have a clue what I did but something worked. Your help was greatly appreciated.

  • I am more able to use your search engine as BING took over. I am at a loss to know what to do. Please send me a phone number to call.

Successfully, I changed my homepage to Google, but each window next I opened going straight to BING. Very frustrated and stop using Mozilla Firefox, unless I got a legitimate answer.

  • get rid of bing

Many have this problem, but there are no answers on how to get rid of BING

Furthermore, the forum software detected your Firefox in version 35.0.1. Is this correct?

Version 35 is not safe; Mozilla reveals security flaws after each new version. Is something holding you upgrade to Firefox 38? Please let us know if we can offer you solutions or workarounds.

If help > about Firefox shows Firefox 38.0.5, you may need to disable the preference that is misrepresentation of your version number. See: sites say that Firefox is obsolete or incompatible, even if it's the latest version.

  • When I click on the sign more to open a new tab. The tab opens with bing pg and I hate bing. How can I stop thiis doesn't happen.

When I click on the sign more to open a new tab. The tab opens with bing pg and I hate bing. How can I stop thiis doesn't happen. I can find nothing to help even had a computer tech friend check.

Looks like your pref browser.newtab.url has been changed.

This extension will reset some prefs to the value default - browser.newtab.url - is covered. See "on this add-on" for more details.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/SearchReset/

It will run automatically and then disappear.

  • Firefox is my Start Page, but when I open a new tab, this one is Bing: how to ensure that the Firefox tabs as well?

So Firefox is my start page, it's OK. But if I open a new tab Bing rises when I want Firefox (Cuase it swag ' don't stuff) how should I do?

You can check the browser.newtab.url pref on the topic: config page and set this pref to your preferred the new tab page.

    • the new default tab with the tiles page is on: newtab
    • the default homepage is Subject: Home
    • to a blank page, you can use Subject: vacuum

The pref browser.newtabpage.enabled must be set to true to use the page defined through browser.newtab.url like the new tab page.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • Search engine Bing on firefox shows very few search results, much less than before for stuff I have to get on a regular basis, how can I solve this problem?

All started 4 days ago. All of a sudden, whenever I watch anything on bing, I get between 20-28 results. Oddly enough, it works fine on internet explorer, but not Firefox. Google is also working on firefox as well. I want to continue to use bing on firefox. How can I fix it?

It seems that we have tried everything to avoid seeing you personalized results based on what Bing knows about you, or what modules might do to the results. It also does not, judging by your screen, you get mobile results, which may be shorter than the results on computers.

This raises the suspicion that your connection has been changed or there is some other external filtering past.

You can check your connection for Firefox here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > advanced > tab mini network > button "settings".

The default "use system proxy" should piggyback on your IE/LAN setting, but you can also try 'no proxy '.

Although it seems unlikely, it is possible that something has changed your Firefox program files. To do this, I suggest:

    Clean reinstall it

We use this name, but it isn't about deleting your settings, this is to ensure that the program, files are clean (no incompatible or exotic code files). As described below, this process does not disrupt your existing settings. Don't uninstall NOT Firefox, that does not need.

    (1) download a fresh Installer for Firefox 38.0.1 of https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/ in an ideal location. (Scroll down your preferred language).

    (2) close Firefox (if applicable).

    (3) to rename the program folder:

    (Windows 64-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files (x86)\OldFirefox

    (Windows 32-bit folder names)

    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox

    TO

    C:\Program Files\OldFirefox

    (4) run the installer you downloaded in the #1. It should automatically connect to your existing settings.

A cleanly reinstalled Firefox search Bing normally?

Note: Some plugins can only exist in this OldFirefox file. If it is missing something essential, present in these files:

    • \OldFirefox\Plugins
    • \OldFirefox\browser\plugins
  • I cleaned the Bing FireFox and now have no. search engines and cannot install everything.

Got a crappy version of bing, used your cleaner reboot and now I have NO search engines and that you do not arrive within FireFox, the search selector is in any way and I have now NO search engine any.

Mozilla, like most free software developers, don't have the ability to run a telephone support line. We are actively working to win the support however bogus sites.

I'm glad it works for you now!
