  AFAIK, there is no option to disable the antivirus in the Bios.

  If you want restorefrom recovery disk, you need to set the cd/DVD-ROM under the 1st boot device.

  I have a laptop HP Pavilion DV4000, on what I'm trying to install Ubuntu.

  It seems that a lot of the devices (such as wireless card) has been disabled in the BIOS.

  The bios is password protected, and I can't get in.

  After trying 3 times, the bios screen responds with system disabled with code 10879.

  I tried a few other passwords, etc., but none of them worked.

  Recently my laptop w8 shared with my brother get sick. So I decided to get out the trusty old diagnosis

  USB and dvd, you know, ubcd centos ophrack. Much to my dismay, I couldn't start any of them. So after some faffing

  everything on the net, I was able to boot/secure boot / disabled, which meant I could f12 at startup in the Boot Manager.

  Unfortunately, the drama is over. Kindly listed boot manager internal hard drive, but not bootable usb or dvd connected.  so I thought, I'm going to be cunning and change the boot order of start. Yet once the monster of Bios Acer jeeringly laughed at my attempts to

  take control of the material, I dared try control simply because I happened to pay a substantial amount of money to acer.

  So, it seems, the only option I have left to change is boot/boot mode / (boot uefi/legacy). So what I need to change to restore the boot control, is to change legacy BIOS uefi? Who will install the w8 cack?

  Also what happens if I want to replace the hard drive with an ssd in the near future, is not not to work?

  Oh, I tried to get help from the enamel of acer, their response said essentially bios/uefi is isn't a problem acer because it is sw and realized

  Hi I stupidly put a BIOS password on my laptop of ea HP DV8 1250, a couple of years ago, and now I don't remember what I put too (what a fool!).

  I want to install a new copy of windows 7, but can't because I locked the BIOS and therefore cannot boot from the CD.

  IF I get tha wrong password 3 times I get the message 'System Disable 5xxxxxx1'

  2. auto off of oboard integrated video card BIOS.

  3. I accidentally turn on start secure;

  Now, an external video card does not work due to the video card and secure start is disabled. I can't see anything on the screen.

  I contracted the CMOS, also used battery jumper to reset the CMOS, hoping to restore the default settings of the BIOS, but none worked.

  Can you please help me?

  It seems that the CMOS clear has failed the BIOS to values by default if your description of the problem is correct.

  1. Unplug the PC
  2. Remove the CMOS battery
  3. Move the CMOS jumper to the clear position.
  4. Wait 30 minutes. On some old PC sometimes had to wait until the day the.
  5. Put back the CMOS jumper to its normal position.
  6. Plug the PC back in and power up.

  Hey gang, just buy a kijiji t500 opportunity and was a little concerned about their former owners / anyone being able to trace it or disable it remotely.  Can I disable or reset it somehow?

  Lenovo will not work the Computrace support system (it is a third-party system), and you cannot save the laptop to anyone in particular.

  As long you have kept the correspondence (e-mail, advertising, sms, phone call for the transaction) and asked the right amount of identity and proof of purchase to the original owner, then you should be fine.

  If you're worried about things, next time, write a sales contract which clearly ask the seller to declare that the laptop is not obtained by illegal means, and it is the first owner of the laptop. Ask also received as evidence.
