  I just got a brand new pearl 2 8130 this week. I have an icon called "downloads" that resembles a black 8130 with a yellow arrow passing through it, kind of looks like a Flash of lightning. Well, for those of you who have a bead, you know that in the list of applications (when you press the 'menu' button - the button to the left of the trackball with 7 points on it), when you move the trackball, it highlights all applications of a round yellow halo. for some reason any and it started yesterday, not when I got on the phone 3 days ago, when I move the trackball on the "downloads" icon, the icon is more surrounded by a yellow halo - instead, this icon is now a white rectangle. You can still see the picture of the phone with the flash of lightning, but he is always surrounded by a white rectangle, even when the trackball is not on it.

  If you rarely use the interior applications, you can hide the folder and leave it on the bottom of your icons.

  Just highlight the folder, then press menu select hide. If you need to use it, simply highlight and show all.

  I am a new owner. I transferred photos on data card and selected for the office, however all the few days the phone comes back from the desktop into one of the pre-installed versions.

  The same thing is happening with my ringtone... Installed mp3 player and selected as a ringtone... Then returns to a pre-installed version random ringtone

  Help! New Nissan Altima with handsfree Kit.  I am able to pair without problem, to make and receive calls without a hitch.  The directory downloaded with ease.  The problem is when I use the phone with the car kit after I get out of the car, the phone hangs, keys do not respond and I have to do a battery pull to reset the phone.  No problem until I use the phone in the car (with bluetooth kit).  Any help or suggestions are appreciated.  I have the latest OS (4.5.0.89).

  Problem solved: I went to the Alltel store and they should do a manual disconnect the phone before turning off the car, it seems to work since I put the Bluetooth icon ther on the first page of my phone it seems to work fine without having to disconnect manually.  I do not understand why it works now, but it does.

  I tried to upgrade my pearl to 4.5, but failed.

  I followed all the different methods to upgrade, that is to say delete vendor.xml, use jl_commander, etc..

  I always like the 507 error (no operating system loaded).   After the attempt to update the phone is not recognized by the pc, I can hear the usb connect and disconnect from the pc beeps.

  I am an advanced user and I searched on the ' net for a similar problem, but the answers come up with the same solutions I've tried and failed with my phone.

  The latest upgrade files have amea in the name of the file and the old 4.3 has efs in the name of the file.  Is how important it? are there versions of different material for the 8130?  Mine is TELUS Mobility.

  At one point, I had the 4.5 os works, but at this time there it was not recognized by my pc (I tried different pc) and not even recognize the AC charger, so I couldn't charge the battery at all.  I'm finally back to ver 4.3.

  Version 4.3 has always worked when reloaded.

  Checked all my usb ports (I use a laptop) and they all had available 500ma.  went a little further and found that my mouse and the blackberry are shared the same controller and the blackberry wanted the full 500ma.  So, I moved the mouse and tried again.  error 507.  Then I was thinking (maybe I should have started with that) that some devices require the special manufacturer cable (I was using an expandable cable of a universal cable kit).  I tried a different USB (from my phone of bike) and there it connected right away!  Maybe the universal was using only 4 drivers and the necessary BB all 5?  USB 1.0 vs 2.0 USB?

  The bb is in it's reset scratch mode so it'll be awhile until I know for sure.

  Access PROFILES. Scroll down to ADVANCED. Once your PROFILES opens click on your profile that says ACTIVE.

  Once there you can scroll to the phone or any setting you want to change. Once inside, you can choose your ringtones.

  Boy, am I out of resources here! Just bought my first BB today, BB Pearl 8130.

  I spent over 2 hours going topic on here, firstly to get the USB mass storage to work (thanks, got the great help of previous posts!), then try to get the Office Manager to work (still won't but I give for this evening) and now trying to find a way to disable the SureType (thingie autotype which gives weird words all the time and makes the whole process a lot more than) my previous 'normal' phone!).

  Can someone help me? I tried going to / Language option and unchecking various component one at a time, but alas! I need to create a large address book - and no, I can't import from anywhere else, this is the first time I'll put one up. I don't want to go to now until Christmas.

  I read in the online user guide to make simple changes, for example, change the volume of the ringtone, go to Applications > Options > General Options. To do this I noticed that I didn't 'General Options' as a choice. How can other than to set a different profile, I change my ring volume?   To change your ringtone, you go into profile.  This is the strong, silent, vibrate, etc. options are.  To better manage those, you scroll to advanced and select.

  I don't know what else isn't here if you can't find the General options.

• Word blackBerry 8130 Smartphones, GPS work

  I loaded a 8130 with 4.5 (reloaded) on it, but the GPS does not work.  Virgin Mobile with a data plan.  I can't even lat and long.  When you follow the instructions for "get you gps location" and press the menu key gps refresh is not even an option (all I get is 'closed', I did all the things in the 'impossible to use GPS technology' help file and still no joy.)  When I try with Nav4All I get the mesaage 'no GPS connection' Google maps does not work either.  E option is set to "gps device.

  I loved the Pearl for a lot of reasons but gave up on it because of Virgin Mobile Canada hobbling GPS Blackberry features.  First, they told me that I need a data plan to get the GPS working.  If this were true all portable GPS units that aren't cell phones would not work.  Nav4All, which uses map data stored on the memory stick and the internal GPS gave me a message "no GPS signal." Even google maps (which uses an instead of GPS cell tower triangulation) does not work with Virgin.  When I downloaded it directly on my phone I received a message saying 'Google maps does not work on your 8130 phone, use the web version. When I pressed them more technical support told me that 'we cannot gaurantee THAT GPS will work on your phone"

  The only good news is that I have to return the phone and cancel the contract without penalty.  Virgin has allowed me to return the phone because I met upon their return from the restrictive conditions of within 20 days and less than 20 minutes of talk time.

  You should not. You should resume and make sure you get a NEW phone, not a refurbished.

  Why pay for a device that is defective. Even if you reload the software, there could be a material

  a problem that is not repairable.
