  Found, thanks to messages later in this thread, as I mentioned in the op. Here's what they suggest (you must use Photoshop):

  1. in Photoshop, select help > updates:

  

  2. click on 'Preferences' in the lower-right.

  

  3. uncheck the "Notify me of new updates on the menu bar". Then click on 'Ok '.

  The best way to remove any code is to work in split screen and then click on the facebook design mode window ONCE and this will highlight the corresponding code in the code view which can now be removed.  As you find your way in the HTML code, it's the best way I can think.

  The app is not physically on the cloud, it's just to show that you have downloaded before and you can download it again.

  I don't think you can remove the default books. I open any personal book, select a contact, do a control + a to select all and drag in the personal address book by default. Then delete the empty book. Then do the same for the collected books.
