BlackBerry smartphone how to create password for EXISTING address book application

I want the password protect my address book as a whole or individual addresses/contacts. I can't find any documentation or prompts on how to do this.  Can anyone help?

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

It is not a function in the native operating system to the only password protect address book contacts only, or individual.

You can password protect the entire device. On your device > Options > Security > General settings (or password on some OS versions later).

You must do so via the Desktop Manager. I'll give you the steps using the Desktop Manager v4.5:

    1. connect your BlackBerry to the computer via the USB cable and open the Desktop Manager.

    2. click on backup and restore

    3. click on the advanced under the section titled Advanced button

    4. on the next screen, on the right, select address book, then click the button clear down.

It will delete the address book and leave it empty.

If you can do none of this, and you don't remember the BlackBerryID password or secret answer to the question, you're stuck.
    Your choice is:
-Use a different e-mail account to create a new BlackBerryID (with which you will lose access to all apps purchased using the 'forgotten' first BlackBerryID, or)
-Find the initial email you have been sent to confirm the initial BlackBerryID and there are a link to click to cancel and delete the account. Click on this, delete the account and then you can use that same e-mail to create a new account.
    Good luck.

  • BlackBerry smartphones, adding a (Pause) password for voicemail

How to program my password automatically after dialing voicemail?

    Hmmmm, sounds a bit weird.

Try this: in this form of voicemail, do note (or write) this voicemail number.

Access your address book and create a new contact (e-mail voice-2 or something.

-Put in the your voice mailbox number in a field (home/work/etc.)

-on the same line, right press it after typing the phone number, the letter ' (this should enter a P for pause)

-then enter your password after the p (again, on the same line).

Save the contact, then try to call him. Do NOT put the phone to your ear, instead of looking at the screen carefully. When he dials the number, a box should appear saying "a pause of 3 seconds", then he should enter your password. If it isn't, then something else is goiong here...

  • BlackBerry smartphones, I am unable to restore my address book

I backed up the data on my blackberry of the flame. I'm now trying to restore and it does everything perfectly but cannot restore my contacts. The notification I get is a gradation from the address book, making it impossible to highlight or it check for restoration.

It then adds a note on saying: files grayed out are given read-only and cannot be stored.

Which means that whenever I backup it makes my contacts read-only.

anyone with the solution of why and how to solve this problem?

Open the address book on the device. Press the menu button and go to the settings. Turn off sync wireless in settings and then try to restore again.

  • BlackBerry smartphones can not see contacts in the address book after you synchronize with PocketMac

Model 8830. Macintosh OS 10.5.8. Latest version of PocketMac SYncManager 1.2 (1.4).

Contacts have been working well. I have sync'd with PocketMac by ticking the peripheral crush, and first of all, I had a lot of duplicate addresses. Second sync seemed to delete ALL my contacts, but by checking the properties of the address book, it shows the 706 entries (twice what a book Mac address

    .)

Nothing not done, I ran twice SyncClean and 'Reset all devices to the first SYnc State'. I have re-started the Mac and Blackberry several times.

    What to do next?

I deleted all my data via the Options > Security Options > then wipe Handheld. Necessary for the re-registration

the BB with the carrier and then by downloading my backed up address book & calendar

Re-creation of speed dials, themes, ringtones, etc., but it cures the problem of address book.

My calendar now has 3 copies of holiday in the United States, but I can live with that.

I find it interesting that nowhere on the site Web Blackberry or PocketMac is there any

clue on how to clean a calendar book or address munged. Maybe the next

BlackBerry Desktop Manager will fix this problem.

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to create an icon for my email accounts?

Hi - I use Internet e-mail services for my work and my personal email - and I therefore two configuration of e-mail services.

The previous Blackberry this created three icons--one for each service and a handset.

The torch, I have one for my personal email account, and one for the handset. There is no separate icon for my work e-mail account.

Something I've done in the settings?

Anyonw know please if there is a way to create a separate icon for my work email account?

    Thank you!

    MKE

If your job is configured via BES or BESx then the icon is hidden by default.

    You have two choices: -.

    (1) in the main message box, go to the Options - the Inbox management and uncheck your personal account which will stop the e-mails contained in the main Inbox

    (2) in the pane all, press the Menu key and select Show all - this will show the hidden desktop icon - highlight and select view (if you want you can now hide the all-in-one Inbox) and then press the menu button and uncheck everything display.

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to create a list of "Top 10" for SMS?

    Hi again...

Here's another quest for a 'how to '.  I often communicate in writing with a 'Top 10 list' - family, friends, business partners, etc..

With my previous PDA (A Treo 750) he kept a record of the last 10 contacts.  With my new 9700, it seems that I have to extract the recipient from the contacts list each time.  Frankly, it's a PIA.  Is there any way to create a Top 10 list that is displayed when I select the SMS/MMS service?

Thanks again for any help on this!

I use an alternative email (msn) and no prospects for my emails, so I don't know if I have everything configured so as to allow me to see: Show recent Contacts when composing Email under the General Options Menu. Therefore, I'm unable to set to Yes.  Is it possible that my version will not have this option to be able to be replaced?

It's a very likely possibility. RIM has sometimes removes some features in the new OS versions and then brings them back in later versions of OS. I'm running v 5.0.0.86 2 and don't do not use Outlook emails to get the option and the possibility to change.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones I changed my password for the computer, no I can't access it from the phone

Please, can someone help me? I changed my password of e-mail of the PC, and now I can't access my BB. When I enter the "E-mail accounts" menu in the phone, I have two categories here: BIS and BES (I have a simple number, not a business Edition), and I can't access the BIS category, it is inactive. I can access only BES, but I don't need. Can someone help me?...

    Hello

Please give iansantos a break here... Somewhere, I think that they don't speak ROMANIAN or know that little question - this is new to me too... but thank you for sharing this to others volunteers and participants in this community to find.

Instead, what he interpreted (and, indeed I agree) of your original message was that you had to edit your stored inside the BIS, email existing credentials (once you have changed the to your mail server). And, there are several ways to do this, with the method you registered as being just one of them... so there thought your goal as being to get BIS re-configured with your new email credentials and you provided another method to do this.

Now, with your 2nd post, are better understood what was your original desire, we now know that our interpretation of your original goal was wrong. But, once again, give iansantos a break... like you, he's human.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphone how to set ringtone for messages

OK I looked everywere in the phone to be able to choose a ringtone for my MMS, text and my email thru blackberry.net and I can't seem to find a way to do it. I need to be notified when an incoming message is received, someone at - it indexes?

My carrier is Verizon just in case where what matters.

Should be able to if you go into your profiles on the home screen icon. In the menu that appears scroll down to advanced. Click the profile 'Active'. From there, you can click on the category of Messages to change Holster/In case settings to control how the device will work for incoming emails. You can also change the SMS category to change the incoming text message response.
