BlackBerry Smartphones Blackberrry newbie
Hey guys, I've never owned a Blackberry before and I got my Curve 9300 today. I was hoping that someone could help me.
I can't seem to record an e-mail address, as the only option it gives me is to the company's server and I want to register my personal email address. How to activate the option? I also added two of my friends who have also to the BB BBMessenger but they are not displayed and if they add me I'm not, it's because my email has not yet been activated?
Sorry if these are fundamental questions, but I'm really lost here.
Welcome to the Forums!

No problem, the answer was posted here in the Forums of thousands of times.
Do you have a data Plan BlackBerry enabled on your account with your carrier or mobile provider?
You have to, to get the push RIM email functions you are looking for, as well as services of BlackBerry data such as the Web browser, Facebook for BlackBerry, BlackBerry Messenger and much more.
Then call your carrier and you learn about to have added to your account BlackBerry data Plan.
Good luck.

Hardware blackBerry Smartphones Dumb newbie question! :)
Hi people,
I'm new in the world of the blackberry and I'm about to take the plunge with a unlocked sim-free BB Bold to use in the United Kingdom on Vodafone. I read on the differences of software between BIS and BES and would go for a set - up BIS. My dumb newbie question is equipment arrives in version BES or BIS or not?
Thanks in advance and do not hesitate to make fun of my madness
craigdh wrote:
Good answer Xandrex. However I'm still not clear as to the issue of equipment, I asked. The reason why I am wanting to buy "BOLD" a separate contract is.
1. it will work a little cheaper over the life of a contract.
2. I will get my "BOLD" much faster.
3 UK networks have a reputation for crippling features in high-end etc phones then charge you more to get similar functionality via one of their services.
4. they are very slow to provide updates of the firmware on their own brand of appliances.
There was a little insinuation in my answer: basically, you buy a mobile phone, so you get a BIS/BES contract with a carrier who takes in charge that the mobile phone. A "BOLD" can be used like BIS or BES, it depends on the company.
On the price, I'm sure the phone deal + contract is always cheaper than a "BOLD" (retail and not eBay from some guys) then a contract which is usable (that is, no GoDaddy or 0.01GBP / KB).
for the speed, you are the one who knows.
The thing of the cripping: the thing is, the updates are provided only by the suppliers (they get a barebone RIM OS, then add their stuff like facebook or AOL). Even if you buy a single "BOLD" without a contract, if you want to upgrade the regular way, you wait fot your carrier to publish the upgrade. Or you can do the regularly (which can be made with or without the purchase contract at the same time).

Greetings from blackBerry Smartphones / BB Newbie Questions
Hello!!
Thought I'd take the opportunity to view and asking some fundamental questions about the Apps and BB.
Apps, I would like to ask you a few tips from the community. Just try to save time by trying different applications by asking. I'm looking for advice for the following applications.
-GPS? Heard of Google Navigation but it doesn't seem to work with BB.
-Calendar? I use my BB for professional and personal
-PTF App? Is it possible using the BB to open, edit, save files on the BB?
-BlackBerry Protect? I've heard of her. Thoughts?
Any other Apps that someone would suggest?
BB issues,
-Whence an app go once removed? Stored on my device somewhere taking up room?
-With regard to the preloaded applications (Verizon) on my BB? Can they be deleted and if so it will cause issues on the road?
-All the Apps I should stay away from?
Thank you
Welcome!

-GPS? Heard of Google Navigation but it doesn't seem to work with BB. Maybe you say Google Maps, works very well with BlackBerry. It is a great mapping application, but does not voice turn - by turn navigation. You might like Telenav GPS for it, I use it, but it is not free.
-Calendar? I use my BB for travelers and personal operating system native calendar is great, that it syncs with Outlook. Others use Google Calendar.
-PTF App? Is it possible using the BB to open, edit, save files on the BB? PDF? Your BlackBerry is open to be sent as an attachment to an email automatically to PDF files. If you save a PDF file on the press card, on the 9650, you will need a third-party app like PDFtoGo or Repligo to open and view the PDF file.
-BlackBerry Protect? I've heard of her. Thoughts? Very worth it. Download AppWorld and set up for daily backup at some point every day. Lifeline.
Any other Apps that someone would suggest?
Weather: Likes BerryWeather (BeWeather in AppWorld). Another beautiful app is WeatherBug.
ShowMeTheImages help really discover your HTML emails a lot simpler and easier.
There are too many apps to name, I like.
BB issues,
-Whence an app go once removed? Stored on my device somewhere taking up room?
If removed from the device, it went. Your download and your purchase is always archived in AppWorld, so you can install it again.
-With regard to the preloaded applications (Verizon) on my BB? Can they be deleted and if so it will cause issues on the road? Really, you can't remove these shortcuts to application "pushed," not very easy installation. It is simpler:
To do this: create a folder on your home screen and name it "Junk" (you can choose to be more creative the folder name ). Now, highlight each unwanted icon and press the Menu key > go to folder and move it to the folder "spam". That, for each, you don't want to do.
Now, highlight this "Junk" folder, and select Menu > hide.
Out of site, out of mind. Meanwhile, feel free to complain to Verizon or their own user forums.
Good luck!

BlackBerry Smartphones confused Newbie: scheduling issues
Hello
I just got a BB b/c I was sick and tired of issues w / my very popular Palm software.
But where the hell is the BB calendar on my desktop software? I downloaded everything... but I can't find the calendar!
Thank you!
There is no "calendar software" on your PC, BlackBerry.
You use the calendar on the BlackBerry and then synchronize these data calendar using the Desktop Manager to your PC for a PC like Outlook application or even a Google Calendar.
Download Desktop Manager here:

BlackBerry Smartphones newbie question... maybe?
Hello all, new to blackberry and does not know what the problem is. I am trying to download app world, but when I try to do it via the browser 9700, I'm not able to click on the download button. It's just gray and the 'pointer finger' does not appear to click on it. Also noticed that this also happens on some research on web sites buttons. Also tried to download the form to my laptop but the blackberry web site said "downloads via a USB connection are not enabled for this product. Please visit our mobile download using the browser on your BlackBerry® smartphone. »

I thought I posted this before but can't ind station. Maybe I'm in the wrong bench?
Need to synchronize information on BB Curve 8530 with my iMac, Mobile me up and use to sync iPod Touch - questions are:
1 can I disable MM before you install Blackberry software for Mac (Snow Leopard)? I need to be able to sync contacts/address book, iCal with the new phone and am afraid of conflicts so I don't "disable Mobile Me.
2 have you also looked at Mark/Space software to sync Curve 8530 - it might be a better program to sync with iMac - someone uses this or do you use the Balckberry software?
3. do I have on the right forum for these questions
I changed my subscription and I am in the right but not sure, so pls be kind enough to redirect me... thx for your patience.
Hello, petunia
Before you install the BlackBerry Desktop Software I would recommend support to the top of your address book and iCal on your Mac. Do this please open your address book, and then select the file (in the top menu) > export > Address Book Archive, and then click Save and placed on the desktop. Let then open iCal and select file > export > iCal Archive and click Save to place them on the desktop as well.
You are now ready to install the BlackBerry Desktop Manager on your Mac. You don't need to disable mobile me to do this. After installation, restart your Mac and open the app to BlackBerry Desktop manager (it will be located in your main applications on the Mac folder). Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your smart phone BlackBerry for Mac.
After the device is recognized and connected, you will have to configure synchronization settings. To do it please click on the items you want to synchronize under information and then select two way to sync with the calendar to sync or Sync Contacts(In the middle of the page). Once this operation is complete, you can go ahead and click the sync button located on the top right to start the synchronization process. During synchronization it will alert you that it's your first synchronization and it is recommended to replace the data on the BlackBerry smartphone. Please select this option to overwrite the data so that all the information of iMac you will be synchronized on your BlackBerry Smartphone.
Once it is complete, you can eject your BlackBerry Smartphone by pressing the key of eject located in the lower right of the program.
Thank you and you defenatly in the right place!

Hello.. I am a newbie. Bold 9650 verizon v6.0.0.524 the volume up and down keys work great during the call but
only the low volume button works in mode 'browser '. This means that I have no sound when watching
videos. Help, please. High volume AND low volume both work actually, but it's only because once every a way down
stuck mute. I have no spell mute me (in browser mode).
Hello
I'm sorry to hear the verdict. Do you know how or what criterion of CSR ran to diagnose water damage? Your moisture indicator strips have been discolored?
Here are some links to help run diagnostics. Sound problems can be caused by corrupt software and memory low conditions as well.
It's a shame that (after doing a full backup successful with Desktop Manager) that you don't accidentally lose or drop it repeatedly on a marble for example floor. Or find it in the driveway accidentally hit by the car after a cataclysmic weather random event. I know most owners insurance contain provisions that can cover or help with the costs of replacement.
Let us know how it goes!

Undue salvation,
Welcome to the support community!
You are able to test with another battery? If this does not help, and if you have access to a computer, I recommend to backup your data using the BlackBerry® Desktop Software and perform a clean reload of your BlackBerry® Device Software in order to avoid any problem of software that can be the cause of the black screen. For additional instructions, see the following KB articles.
For Windows®: "how to perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry Device Software for Windows' http://bbry.lv/GI9beY
For Mac: "Perform a clean reload of the BlackBerry smartphone application software on a Mac using BlackBerry Desktop Software" http://bbry.lv/J0UN1UPlease verify that the problem has been solved before restoring all the data from your backup file. If the problem is not resolved by the steps above, then I suggest to contact your service provider for other options.
I hope this helps.

Original title; Unable to connect to my Blackberry smartphone
Since the last Windows Update August 17, I can no longer connect my computer to my phone smart blackberry to sync my contacts and calendar
Thanks for your help. I decided to check with my Blackberry service provider, and they were able to fix the problem by simply removing and then reinsert the cell phone battery while it was connected to my computer. The old trick 'the battery '. Never thought of that.
Thanks again!
