BlackBerry smartphones must have data plan?

Why is Verizon requires the data but not Cingular plan not?  I would like to than the blackberry for features to have my outlook on my phone calendar.  I realize without wireless sync I have to use a cable on a daily basis to update.  I'm fine with, I don't however need recover emails from work on my phone all day while I'm sitting at my desk.  I know people with Cingular that have blackberrys without data plan and people with Verizon, which projected data automatically added to their bill when they bought the blackberry.  Verizon told me it's a question of RIM Blackberry, not a matter of Verizon. Why Blackberry have different policies with these two carriers?

PDA/Smartphones and BlackBerry have a full web browser, are able to email and send and receive data. When these resources are used, the costs are incurred. The best way to control those costs is with a PDA nationally or Blackberrry Email Plan featuring unlimited internet and email. Blackberry devices must have a data plan that we have an agreement with their Builder.

It's what Verizon told me today.  Thanks for your help though!  Now I have to decide whether to suck it up and get the unwanted data plan or move from Cingular...

  • BlackBerry Smartphones BiS or data Plan

Is it necessary to have BIS access to emails, will be the only provider Mobile Data Plan would be enough.

    Hello

See this FAQ for more information:

Note that it is generic... with hundreds of carriers in the world with dozens of different data plans, it is impossible for anyone other than them to respond to the specificity of your question. But, generally speaking, a data plan that allows the BIS is indeed necessary to send to the function.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry Smartphone Wifi and data plan

I can't use my wifi when my data plan is turned off so that means if I was abroad and he wanted to use my wifi I have to turn on the data plan and I then will charge even if the wifi is free?

I talked to my SP and they said that I get charged if I used my data abroad plan.

If anyone can confirm here that you can not use wifi if no data plan?

I'm following you better now, thank you.

How do they say that I use my data service if my sim card is not in the phone

You do not use the data service IF even the SIM card is removed.

For example, I have a Bold 9000 sitting here with me with no SIM in there either. If I turn off data services, WiFi browser does not work. If turn ON data services, WiFi, browser will work. This "BOLD" PIN is saved with ANY carrier. No data of the carrier service is used.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones AT & T data plan

OK, we need nextel for industry. Passed to a bb and it turn changed on this sprint phone that does not whence our nextel. I don't need another cell plan, but I'm here to get the emails and view attachments, etc.. Someone uses-data plans from AT & T with/without cell phone service.  I guess that to be able to use the gps on the BB, you need internet access not only the navigation.  I'm so confused b/c that all data usage.

  • Z10 Z10 blackBerry on a normal data plan (not BIS)

After researching if the Z10 operates on a data plan normal and not a BIS and of course it worked perfectly on Wi - Fi without a SIM card, wanted to just make sure that they are compatible with a normal cellular data plan, I went for it yesterday and Yes, everything worked except BBM, hell the BlackBerry logo disappeared from the home screen. I have contacted my provider and they shocked me, they told me it is not possible to not have an ENCORE with the Z10, and they were surprised, I was able to browse the net and send and receive e-mails, and they said they cannot support me!
So why did I do that? A normal data plan is cheaper here, in the UNITED Arab Emirates, my cancelled BIS gave me 500 MB to 79AED, and the normal data plan gives me 1 GB for 50AED. Is there no work around for this before that I have to go back?

    Hey ya3goub,

Welcome to the community of BlackBerry Support Forums.

    Thanks for the question.

10 blackBerry smartphones require a data plan normal of your network service provider.  However the network service provider must support BlackBerry 10, otherwise some BlackBerry services will not work.

Also BIS data plans are not available for smartphones BlackBerry 10.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    See you soon.

  • Smartphones blackBerry WiFi email no data Plan

    Hello

I'm new here, so thanks for any help. Large community.

I read already a few posts, but impossible to find a solution.

I want to check my emails gmail through my Bold 9700. Currently, I don't want to sign up for a data plan. I want to use my Wifi connection in the office or at home in order to get my emails. I'm not pushing need function but I don't want to go through the Web page and login. I want to just press a button and receive my emails on request.

Is it possible to get my emails? My friend has an iphone and he can choose between receiving manual email with push with data plan or wifi.

    Thanks for any help.

No, not with a Data Plan. You can use the WiFi Hotspot browser to check your Gmail on the browser, but you can not just rely on a 'button' and receive on request. It would be 'pull' email and BlackBerry don't do that.

  • Vs blackBerry Smartphone Wi - Fi data

Hi people.  I searched on the BB forums, and even wandering in the manual on my 9320, but can't find the answer to a question.

I have no problem with the Wi - fi or data. This is, when data and the wi - fi are both active in the handset, which makes the phone first use to access the internet, my data plan or the Wi - fi?  I turned the data out, just in case, because I don't have a data plan unlimited and have many points critical wi - fi use.

    Thanks for your suggestions.

I must admit, my knowledge of legacy devices is a little rusty because of me playing with BB10 phones for many months now.

I know that your default phone to a Wi - Fi connection every time a strong Wi - Fi connection is present. With the way you have configured your phone, you don't have to worry about using a cellular network connection.

And I finally found a device around the installation and rebooted. Follow the connection management > Service status (or similar wording) to see how your phone connects.

I hope that I helped you. If no information is still required, please after return.

  • BlackBerry 10 wifi vs data plan

    Hello
    Here's the problem:
At home, I use Wi-Fi with my z10, when I leave the House, my logic says that the unit should switch to the data connection / service plan provided by the companies I have active.
What happens is that im without any connection and I have to turn off the wifi and restart the device. Can someone help me pls for this problem?
    Thank you

I communicate with your wireless service provider and make sure that your data plan is configured correctly. If this does not fix it they have to escalate your case to BlackBerry.

  • BlackBerry Smartphones Verizon without data?

I have a Curve 8310 and a Bold 9650.  I use very little ot my package data and would like to block data through Verizon and just pay for phone service.  I like both phones, but can't justify the additional cost.  I blocked data on phones of my children (two PARENTS and a phone data LG loan).  Verizon told me that they "can't" block data for these phones.  Is this true?  Why?  These phones are unusable without data?  I can't get updates to the computer?  Please enlighten me.  Thank you

Hello and welcome to the community!

BBs without data plans are, IMHO, near useless, and not useful to have. There are just too many services that they depend on a data plan that is appropriate for the feature. But, having said that, there is nothing on the BB himself who said: he cannot work as just a phone without a data plan. However, each company has its own policies and procedures... it is quite possible that VZW will not allow a BB on their network without a correct data... plan and being their network, they have every right to have such a policy.

    Good luck!

  • BlackBerry smartphones still have a different conception of the PRIVATE Blackberry!

Another share of these silent creators of Blackberry. The fact that they put the volume keys and touch mute, on the right, where you hold the phone to make calls. Now what do you think happens? Not only do keep you spoiling and pressing the volume keys, you continue to press the Mute button and then people can't hear you! It is hoped that they are not hang up on you, before you go through the whole process of unmmuting it! I forgot to add this to my long, VALID and based on FACTS, review, through Mods deleted. I'll just add my problems one at a time in the future.

See if Blackberry does not have SIM card and memory on top locations, but rather to put them under a (((removable battery))) then it wouldn't happen. Now if you say that you have never run into this question, then you don't have the phone.

And while I HATE Blackberry with a passion, this problem is known. Read honest reviews, not purchased by Blackberry!

  • BlackBerry Smartphones I have need of a driver or software to install on my laptop to transfer data to my blackberry?

If Yes, where can I download this driver/software?  Thank you!

    Ok

    We are going to save.

You have the desktop software for your PC? It allows you to backup and synchronize

your PC and the BB. It also allows you to load applications, like your game.

Let me know if you have it.

To the extent where a card holder, if allows you to store music, photos etc. On the map, you have more device memory for your phone

in order to operate quickly and easily. I certainly recommend that you get one.

Let me know on your PC, the operating system and version of Outlook that you are using.

Then on the BB go TO OPTIONS and look for the version of the operating system you have. Looks like 4.x.x.xxx

    Thank you
