Blocky reading on some imported Clips

Hello

I'm looking for help with a problem I have with iMovie: I finally got round to transfer dozens of videotapes of various types (Beta, Super 8 and DV)

The problem I have is that some of the clips have video block but the sound seems ok. I transferred a large number of these bands a few years ago on my PC power and transferred the files from hard drive to hard drive over time with the intention of finally edit and sort {(est-ce que cela pourrait être le problème).}

The files are a mix of MOV, DV, and Quicktime files with unfortunately no logic to it at all, the last thing I want to do is import them, but if that's the only answer then so be.

I use iMovie 10.1.1 on an iMac 5K with i7 processor and a graphics card than R9 M295X 4 Gig, this machine bought for the above project.

Please help if you can.

Blackrockguy

Hello there blackrockguy,

Looks like you have imported a large number of video that you see rasterization of type block goes with when read in iMovie. I think it would be prudent to see if these files have the same anomalies outside of iMovie or on another computer to see if the problem is with the files themselves. If they are, you will have to then reimport them from their original source, since the issue is isolated to the files.

If they play OK on the other computer or outside of iMovie then I would then simply delete the movie (s) of iMovie, it restarts the computer and re import.

Delete clips and events

You can delete unwanted items to an event and you can delete an entire event to free up storage space.

Note: To free up storage space, you must delete an event together. Removal of clips of an event does not free storage space.

  1. In the list of libraries, do one of the following:

    • Delete an event: Select the event you want to delete.

    • Delete clips in an event: Select the event that contains the clips you want to remove and select the clips you want to remove in the browser.

Tip: To select multiple clips in the same library, hold down the command key when you click on the clips that you want to select or drag a marquee around clips.

  2. Choose file > move to the trash.

If a clip you are trying to delete is used anywhere else in your library, the clip is not removed.

Note: By selecting an item and pressing Delete the mark as rejected. For more information, see mark as favorite or rejected clips.

From: events and media to organize

If the problem still persists, then check to see if they import properly in a new library on another admin user:

  1. Choose the Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click users and groups.

  2. Click on the lock icon to unlock, then enter an administrator name and password.

  3. Click on the button Add below the list of users.

  4. On the pop-up menu click new account, and then choose a user type.

  • Administrator: An administrator can add and manage other users, install applications, and change the settings. The new user that you create when you set up your Mac is an administrator. Your Mac can have multiple administrators. You can create new ones and convert standard users to administrators. Don't set up the automatic connection to an administrator. If you do, someone could simply restart your Mac and access with administrator privileges. To secure your Mac, don't share administrator names and passwords.

  • Enter a display name for the new user. An account name is automatically generated. To use a different account name, enter it now, you can't change it later.

  • Enter a password for the user, and then enter again to verify. Using an index of password is recommended to help the user remember the password.

  • Click on create user.

  • From: OS X El Capitan: Configure users on your Mac

If that's the case then I would then test creating a new library in your original user and to check if they look ok here as well:

    Create a new library

    1. Choose file > open library > new.

    2. In the Save dialog box appears, type a name for the new library and navigate to the location where you want to save it.

The default location is the movies folder in your home folder.

    3. Click Save.

A new library is created at the chosen location, and an empty event with the current date is created.

    From: work with multiple libraries

On the other hand if the problem persists to system-wide, I would then delete iMovie itself:

OS X El Capitan: install, update and uninstall applications

Applications downloaded from the App Store: click on the Launchpad icon in the Dock, press and hold the app icon until all the icons begin to jiggle, then click on the button Delete an application . If you later want the app, you can reinstall it on the App Store.

Then, download it again from your downloads in the Mac App Store:

    Download your latest purchases

It would probably be wise to remove the content and import it back between uninstalling as well to minimize the risk of corruption during import. Thank you for using communities of Apple Support, let us know how it goes!

    • Any ideas? Premiere Pro CS6 crashing whenever I try to import clips!

      Hey everybody,

I'm relatively new to Premiere Pro CS6 (gradually switching to Final Cut), so forgive me if there's any details miss me. I have real problems with getting the app to work, unfortunately.

      Here's the problem:

I can create and save projects very well. Nothing is slow or appears bad. However, every time I want to import clips (in any parameter of project/sequence, or codec, as well as different types of clips from the camera), Premiere Pro instanty throws a message - immediately - to say:

«I'm sorry, that a serious error has occurred which requires Adobe Premiere Pro stop.» We will try to save your current project".

It is literally impossible around that, that I can tell. I tried all different types of clips, all the different import methods (for example drag / move, media browser, file > import), but nothing. It isn't even a matter of film - the same applies even if I just try to import images. Oddly, with grag and drop - method if it is a video clip, PP registers even how long the clip is, highlighting where the clip will insert - she normally would be - but then instantly crashes after abandonment and/or trying to read. This led to believe me (because I never saw a single visual image in Premiere Pro) there could be a graphic bug - potentially something wrong with my system.

For any help or suggestion would be received with gratitude. I have attached to the report of crash below and some features of my system.

      See you soon,.

PS just Gunna do a full update of my Mac OS X to bring it up to 10.8.3. I doubt that this will fix the problem, but it's worth a shot, and if no bed I'll let you all know.

      Hey everyone just updated:

I think I've solved the problem!

No idea what it was, but it would either have been:

      (a) restart my MacBook (unlikely!)

      (b) update the firmware from Apple

      (c) update the Apple Retina Display update

(d).. .the above all of that!

He actually started to work before you go on 10.8.3, so not associated with OS X.

In this case, my apologies for the long post - hope it helps everyone in the same situation in the future. Moral of the story: the Apple software update!

    • Settings of the source is now gray for each new r3d imported clips

At some point, I'm now impossible to import a new clip of r3d (old and new project) with the Source not grayed out settings. Relocation of REDCINE-X has not been set. Reset has not been set.

Previously imported clips are clickable Source parameters. A same re-imported clip will also be grayed out option.

Question was not existing yesterday on Premiere Pro CC 2015...

For any clip of R3D (or another format that used to have the Source settings) imported CC, 2015, the settings feature moved to Master Clip effects. If you import a clip of R3D CC 2014 project, then the Source settings will be enabled in the project Panel.

Excerpt from the doc for help:

Parameters of source code available in the effect controls panel

For RED, ARRI, CinemaDNG, DPX and Sony F65 media files, you can set the Source settings using the master tab in the effect controls panel. Previously, the settings of the Source were available in a modal dialog box.

    • Import clips from his lack of Sony HXR-NX5E

      Hello!

Thanks Adobe to bring us first, but in 2012, according to me, that the import clips should not be so annoyingly difficult.

I imported clips using "import" and «media browser.» Two ways to let me with picture but the sound is "not there", or sometimes very "crisp/digital." Clips of same see to VLC player works fine, but the sound does not come from my helmet. For some reason, it's using the internal speaker, but it seems OK. I use sony HXR-NX5E, first CS 6 and I am on win 7 64 bit. Don't know what sound card I use.

Update: prelude (never used before) I can see soundwaves and hear the noise? It is low, but can be used. Now... What can I do to get into the first and preserve the sound?

      Thanks for the ideas...

      Hello!

Jeff Merci for your help. I discovered that the upgrade of MasterCollection (creation) 5.5 to 6 makes the difference about this problem. Files now import correctly. They are not under MC 5.0 and 5.5. Boring!

For any other still struggeling 5.5 and the same problems I have no solution, but in response to Jeff:

      1 tried both:

      (a) copy all folders and files of the map

      (b) imported only the master to mts

2 it is correct. Bad Examplefile, but the same problem on other files with the longest span (check Media Info below another file)

3 no, but the camera have two bays of card. All content has been saved on this single card. I can't believe that something has been recorded on the other card. That would be awkward and files from one card work in Prelude (poor audio) and VLC as they are.

4 as well as the rules on the media. Problem is the software/hardware/operating system?

    • How can I tell imovie to send Import Clips?

      Hello everyone,

I appreciate all the help this forum helped me to this day.  Thanks again to all who responded!

My workflow is 1.   Take my SD card in my panasonic camcorder and put it in the drive 2.  To import the files, use iMovie.  However, is it possible to import them to another hard drive?  I can't set the location.  Also, I have no idea where they take the clips.  Is it possible to find individual clips that I can access outside of iMovie in which if I click it, it will play the clip?  I heard that iMovie it encapsulates all in one giant file.

Also to create a movie, first IMPORT the clips to a large bank I am talking about above, so I ENTER these clips on a PROJECT?  I am curious about others ' work flow.

      Thanks for your help here!

      Joe

When you import clips, they will be placed in the selected event, but you can change this with the ' import to:' field:

The clips will be stored here where the library containing this event is registered.  If it's on an external hard drive, then the clips go.  If you go to the library (extension .imovielibrary) with the finder then right click > view the contents of the package, you will see folders for each event and each project.  Within each of them will be a "Original media" folder which contains the imported clips.  You can play or copy them from there, but changes nothing in the library.

The normal workflow is to import clips into events and create projects and drag and drop clips from the events in the calendar of the project.

      Geoff.

PS in the absence of other information, I assume you are using the latest version of iMovie (10.1.1)

    • I can no longer import clips for my external drives... final cut gives me the ability to import on my hard drive... you just buy a new drive for G and I have the same problem

I used to be able to import clips on my external drive of G and change events I had saved on the drive, but this problem started after I tried to import video from a camcorder sony I had connected the G drive.  Now when I try to import the clips, it don't give me the possibility to choose one of my records G, I can only import directly on my hard drive.  I can't open the previous events I backed up on my external drives.

    • No video shows when you import clips in movie maker mpeg video

I am running xp home with service pack 3 installed. When I try to import mpeg movie clips in moviemaker now only the audio shows, before they imported correctly.  I've done this before and the films I've done import and play very well, but when I try to import clips I origionaly used to create the film there is no video. the clips play fine in media player, but not in movie maker. What has changed.

      Hi, Johns53,

Have you tried to uninstall Service Pack 3, restart the computer and restart the clips?  They work then?

If so, reinstall the SP3 and perform the following steps

Visit the site of the manufacturer of the video card driver updates

      Open the Device Manager

Right-click on the video driver and select Update driver

Right click on the driver and select uninstall

      Restart the computer

      Windows will reinstall the drivers

Clips of retry.  They work now?

      Kind regards

How it works is usually the application (explorer.exe is an application) in question is open about everything that monitor his last (final) session was closed the.  Not all applications have this built-in memory, but most do.

I don't think that even something TO manage multiple monitors (this is what it was built for) will do what you are wanting.  ;-)  I see no way of programming of this type of automation.  ;-)

I have some important files on my desktop and the fear that one of my employees has copied that data on its USB, is it possible to check if there was such a transfer, such as a history of copy, or something?

In my view, the above question sums up all, I'm not that computer savvy, so please give detail instructions, and if there is way to secure these files are copied or sent by electronic mail, please let me know, if I can avoid these problems in the future. Thank you.

You may not know a posteriori if this transfer took place. To prevent it in the future, lock your device by pressing the Windows key + L before you leave your office and keep your secret password.

I have several short video clips I shot with my camera GoPro assembled on a timeline. I would like to cut some video clips but not them all. How can I cut just some video clips?

the alt (option on mac) key is a shortcut to temporarily circumvent the binder. so that you can select just the audio, not the video portion of the clip. you need not CTRL for this. You can also simply switch off binding using the menu button to do this, and then re-enable it later.

to move to another audio track, you can select only the audio (using alt or toggle menu option) and make them drag to an unused track, as track 3 or something. then click on the 'm' to cut this track. There are tutorials without end and howto on youtube for the creation or one of adobe software. so feel free to look through advice as well.

What is the destination folder that the date be underneath?  In the top right it says users who suggests, you try to put the photos on top of your username instead of under your username.  Maybe that's the problem.  So change your folder in the drop-down list at the bottom right of what it should be rather than users, and if you're going to show us the destination of your photos at least scroll through the list of folders down right so that we can see which is the white highlight.
