Blu - ray - why are H.264 motion menus re-transcoded in MPEG2?

I have a project of BR 720p50 with motion menus. During the generation of the BR menu motion disc are re-transcoded by again to MPEG2 eventhough the project default conversion settings are defined in the format H.264, 1280 x 720, 50 images per second. Media on the timelines do not re - transcode in MPEG2. Yes, I can find the .m2v in the Sources\Menus folder.

Transcode transcode status/BR BR settings for the movement of the menus are / are defined for transcode Don t.

I have no audio in menus of movement and they are transcoded h.264 in Adobe Media Encoder CS5 @ CBR, 11,11 MB/s, so the baud rate Maximum video Audio/Maximum @ 15.0 Mbps in still should be ok. (All media in the project are trancoded with SOUL CS5 @ the same settings as well).

I have transitions between each menu and they are not re-transcoded in MPEG2, so menus chapter and menu are re-transcoded then transitions are left intact by again. I can read the disc burned with no problems.

It seems strange to create motion menus to the H.264 format to see their re-converted to MPEG2 in Encore CS5.

No one knows why this happens?

/ Roger

There will be no problems with the menus of mpeg2 and h264 video. You can mix and match all different codecs, resolutions, display rate on a Blu - ray disc without any problems.

  • Length maximum Blu - ray HQ with H.264 and audio 5.1

    Greetings,

I'm trying to get through my first project after the upgrade to CS6 and although I searched on this subject, I have not found a solution.

Previously, I used CS5 and encoded in MPEG-2/HQ/VBR2 1440x1080i (corresponds to the source) and coding for 5.1 audio Surcode produce of the Blu - Ray.

It seems that CS6, and improved video codecs, the impulse is to start using the H.264 or MPEG-2.  Don't I have that right?

I am aware, there seems to be some problems with 5.1 audio and different encoding presets, but I do not like I encode my audio and video separately in order to bring them in again.  Impossible to believe that we STILL have to do that...

Anyway, if I am not mistaken, it is preferable to use H.264 now, so my question is this:

What is the duration of maximum quality project (which fits on one disc BD SL) if I use H.264 as the encoder of 1440x1080i, high quality, with a 5.1 audio soundtrack?  My source material is HDV if it matters.  I guess a related question is with H.264, what are the recommended settings/bitrate in order to obtain a maximum or high quality with this codec?  I had it all figured out for MPEG-2!

    Thanks for the ideas,

    BJBBJB1

It's an interesting question, although I have no SOUL CS6, only SOUL CS5.5.

I do not think that the video codec should really matter for the calculation of the amount of space taken a particular, although transmission speed if you are using a rate higher for audio, which will count.

for example. a video (no audio) encoded, particular long with an average bitrate of 20 Mbps with the H264 video codec would take the same amount of space as 20 Mbps video (no audio) encoded with Mpeg2 codec.

    These are the raw numbers:

for example. (all other things being equal):

A 2 hour Mpeg2 video encoded at an average of 20 Mbps would take about 17,58 GB

A 2 hour video H264 encoded at an average of 20 Mbps would also take about 17,58 GB

It seems that CS6, and improved video codecs, the impulse is to start using the H.264 or MPEG-2.  Don't I have that right?

I do not have CS6, but in terms of image quality at a given flow, H264 should give a better image quality than Mpeg2.  (as a very rough idea - and that perhaps not quite correct, but I think at low bitrates (around 10 Mbps?)) H264 is supposed to be equivalent to a mpeg2 to double the speed of transmission).  for example. 10 Mbps H264 might look roughly the same as a 20 Mbps Mpeg2 video.  Although at much higher rates and the same resolution HD, the difference will be less, or so high enough bitrate, it probably will not be a difference).

I do not have CS6, but I guess it also depends on how much space the audio track takes up.  You use a codec audio lossless or loss?  About what average bitrate is your audio (if this will depend on what your audio lossless)?

Unless she uses a higher rate for audio, the duration, you can keep on with H264 would be identical to Mpeg2 - although H264 should give you a better image quality than Mpeg2 the same transmission speed, you could probably reduce the video bitrate compared to how you would with Mpeg2.

My brute (perhaps not entirely accurate) Calc:

Total average bitrate 18.9 Mbps would give you about 3 hours of video with audio on a 25 GB disc (for example if the audio was about 4.1 Mbps and video 14.8 Mbps).

Total average bitrate 28 Mbps should give you about 2 hours of video with audio on a 25 GB disc

Total average bitrate 35 Mbps should give you approximately 1 hour 37 minutes of video with audio on a 25 GB disc

    ---

In the preset for ' level Bitrate: high "in CS5.5, with a resolution of 1440 x 1080, with a high profile, level 4.0/4.1, it gives a flow target for video (no audio) of 18.75 Mbps

If we assume audio is about 4.1 MB/s (the real value will depend on the real Mbps of your audio files),.

    This would give a total average bitrate (video + audio) of 18.75 + 4,1 MB/s = 22.85 Mbps

To 22.85 Mbps total for medium flow, it should give you about 2 hours and 29 minutes (ie. about 24,94 GB), but you would need to leave a little space for menus (maybe assume the durations you can adapt are a little less that this is safe).

  • Problems with the pop-up menus of blu - ray

I made the mistake of pointing this issue/problem on another similar post so here is still for some:

I got this error message at the end of the generation of disc:

Blu - ray error: "fatal error". Code: "6", notes: "the Graphics buffer overruns. & #8232; -not multiplex with maximum IG PTS: 54900000 (in 90kHz).

I'm working on blu - ray is a live concert of 87 min with about 8 other much shorter deadlines.  The main menu has 6 buttons with a background of movement.  There are a few sub-menus as well, but the problem came when I started to make the context menus for the different timelines.

It is the first project where I had to really explore the possibliltes and limitations of context menus again.  I burned a disc to test with just a pop-up menu base to see what the opacity of the menu would look over the final video.  All video assets were installed to transcode "automatically".  All the audio supports are blu - ray compatible ac3 Surround or stereo WAV 16 bit so could be left as "not transcode.  This disc perfectly.

I then went through the process involved enough to make a final version of the main menus pop up.  Context menu of the main concert is 5 pages (including page 0).  There are specific menus of other timelines, but those who have no more than 2 pages.  None of the menus have more than 10 keys.

I tried to burn the disc, and he returned with the above error.  After reading other posts, I thought that it was worth trying to remove the AuthorScriptHDMVSessions file before you start a new burn because it was already filled with files from my test burn.  That did not help.

Any idea or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you.

After countless tests and research, I finally have a blu - ray burned successfully with several contextual menus pages (that satisfies me) work.  Thanks to all who gave the theoretical orientation and suggestions in emails and other messages.  There had been no shortage of quirks and obstacles to overcome in trying just to make a blu - ray player.  Unfortunately, I don't have the time to identify precisely what was causing the error message.  The project just has to be.

Main popup menu has 4 pages, with 13 buttons on each page.  Only about 5-9 on the "buttons" on each page are buttons that have a link anywhere.  The other buttons on each page only serve the remaining substantive pieces of the menu and are not accessible on the final drive.  Totally ridiculous how to make backgrounds for menus, but it works.

Among other things I've learned about the menus pop - up + more misc:

    1. If possible, quite create a menu .psd before you import it into a project yet.  Create the button order in the .psd you want that he will eventually be the end (the bottom layer is 1 key).  If you edit and resave order once it has been brought, yet almost always return it to some strange order of buttons (possibly original).  You will spend all your time to re-routing of navigation button and change their numbers, only to discover later that even changed any return without notice.

    2. as many people of State, preferred to have still to make a reflection as little as possible  All my button groups initially had text layers in their breast with some fx applied.  I have merged each text layer down in the bottom layer of this button to essentially rasterize the text with the fx applied.  Each (+) group button so only was a Higlight and a background layer.  After doing this for all the buttons, the .psd file size is greatly reduced.  Naturally, I've saved a copy before you go through the process of merger where I never had to go back and change the text.

    3. originally, the background for the menus were made to cut out a rectangle of the background of the main menu.  It was the width of the frame and about 1/5 of the height.  I had changed the opacity to around 60% and cut the pieces to go with their respective button.  For the final disc, I just did a shape with the rounded and filled with solid color Rectangle tool.  It's likely that about half the size of the pop-up menu original background.  I changed its opacity as well, but then he merges with a layer of white so still didn't have to think about the opacity setting.

    4. I encoded all the video elements BEFORE they were brought into the project.  There are some problems with how the sizes of the files are interpreted by yet, but I will not trust him to encode anything again.

    5. for some reason any still wants to transcode 16 bits, .aiff files .wav files, 48.0 kHz by a blu - ray, but 16-bit 48.0 kHz do NOT need Trancoder (for DVD and blu - ray).

  • Software disc drive Blu - Ray doesn't play new Blu - Ray!

Rather disappointed with the Blu - Ray drive at this moment!

My machine is a Qosmio X 870, running under Windows 7 64-bit. It comes with the Blu - Ray disc player, which so far I've used with my previous purchase - the next Star Trek generation season 2, which presents - and continues--work very well.

However, the season 3 Blu-Rays that are just out, do any work! As far as I know, the discs are not defective - they are recognized, and the structure of the file is there. I tried multiple disks, but all simply freeze them the player when he tries to load them. The screen is black (flickers sometimes) and unresponsive. There is no error message. As far as I know, this isn't a hardware problem - disks are fine and the laptop drive can play the old blu - ray without problem.

    However, these news do nothing.

    * Solved * -after a lot of searching around, managed to find a software update for the player on the Australian Toshiba site (why doesn't the European site list the Bluray Player among the software updates?).

  • Satellite P200-1EE - is there an available Blu - Ray player?

I asked this question before but at the time (March 2008), there is no disk in Toshiba or any other manufacturer.
    Some readers are now available.

Has anyone tried to install a Blu - ray player in replacement of HD - DVD unit provided with this computer?
Are there compatible drivers, like thiese are normally only provied by Toshiba?

It would be a great alternative to the replacement of this computer because it has all the requirements of the HD.

    This was already asked, here:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=34643&TSTART=0

I didn t find any information if a Blue-ray player is compatible with any of the Toshiba in my opinion, would not be possible.
As you probably know n t, not all readers are supported due to different settings master/cabel/c-salt.
A disc with no compatible settings would not be recognized by the BIOS.
That is why it is important to know which drives are compatible and this drive are not supported. I think that Blue-ray discs are not supported.

  • Satellite P855-307 is not play the latest Blu - ray discs

The Toshiba Blu - ray disc player is is more grateful or play the Hollywood movie Blu - ray discs.

The recent Hollywood film set of Blu - ray discs in both my Pioneer HDD-Recorder/Blu-ray player and play on my PS3, it is why blu - ray discs are fine.

Drive Blu - ray on the satellite p855 works so I can play Blu - ray movies non-Hollywood on my Satellite P855 (e.g. "in the shadow of the Moon") as well.

This also indicates that the Toshiba Blu - ray disc player software can work, so something else is preventing the operation.

    BIOS 6.80 VICTORY
Version of Toshiba - 1.05.207 Blu - ray disc player.
Is Blu - ray zone B and 5 changes remain (never has been changed).

There is no firmware update on the support site of Toshiba for the BD - ROM Pioneer BDC - TD04S.
Satellite P855-307 runs the original OS (Win 7 HP 64-bit).

Read the Readme to Toshiba Blu - ray disc player mentions AACS key renewal, although I don't see any way mentioned anywhere by which's made it.

Corel WinDVD is of no assistance as a player, as well as the trial version of WinDVD 11 recognizes only Intel HD4000 graphics.

Trial version of CyberLink PowerDVD can't read Blu - ray Disc movie Hollywood but will play non-Hollywood films such as "In the Shadow of the Moon".

It seems you have a problem to play only some specific BD discs.

I m not quite sure that your problem, but from my point of view it may be a problem of firmware of BD player. Unfortunately, Toshiba driver page does not only updates the firmware for the BD drive so will not be able to try a firmware update.

I put t think there is a problem with the playback software (Toshiba Blu - ray disc player) because it seems that you are already using the last available Toshiba Blu - ray Disc version 1.0.5.207 player. If the software is already up-to-date.

However, the freeware VLC player software/tools are supported BD disks too and play almost all formats and file standards.
Recommend you test just to see if the problem still occurs even by using such usefulness of these tools.

  • Windows Media Player cannot play the blu - ray files

I have a Blu - ray player in my laptop, so why can't windows media player play? and what can I do so that it will be?

    1. My first answer is the Google search for Blu - Ray Codecs
    2. My second answer is Google looking for a program to play the Blu - Ray (some are free, some are paid

I do not think that caught WMP supported by Blu - Ray, but Apple's iTunes, and its free to download for PC and Mac, but on PC it is a Devourer of real resources (RAM and processor). Now I don't know if this program works for Blu - Ray, but Media Player Classic home cinema SurgeForge (and not by Microsoft) plays most formats as long as the K-lite codec pack is installed. Both k - lite and media player classic home cinema (and not by Microsoft) are free to download and and findable by searching on Google.

Good luck in getting your Blu-Rays to play, at the moment I am looking at myself if my PC will play Blu-Rays at all.

  • Blu Ray does not work after upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit

Hope someone can help with this problem. I found a lot of forum and users with similar problems but I can't solve this problem.

I bought this HP Pavilion DV7-1055EA about 3 years ago the drive blu - ray one of the points of sale, it was loaded with Vista 32 bit. After making this computer has 4 GB of RAM instead of 3, I did a clean install of windows 7 64-bit. After which my Blu Ray player stopped working.

When inserting a CD/DVD, the drive works fine and everything is as usual, however when insert a Blu Ray disc windows does not recognize the drive IE "drive is empty".

Different things, I tried to set the inclusion of the problem, reflashing the BIOS, install the latest firmware, re - install the game media, installed PowerDVD but without any change in the symptoms.

Can someone help with this problem? Well, I'm stuck on this one like blu ray readers are not my strong point in computers. Maybe HP (in their wisdom) printed a digital brand on the device which prevents him from being compatible with more recent versions of windows? I talked to HP however my warranty has expired I do not pay £15 for a fool to tell me to come back for win vista (which is the worst OS known to man kind) or that there is no solution available. Help, please?

    Hello

After writing this last post, so I decided to download Nero Info Tool to look at information from drive etc.

The program asked if I could put in a disc to test the speed of running, so I thought... what the hell I'll put in a blu - ray disc and see what happens.

Next thing I know that running speed test took place then everything suddenly the blu ray kicks in life and he was here... smooth as the more calm waters, known for the kind of man... my blu ray film.

Reboot the machine and now the blu - ray player works fine. Any idea on what just happened?

I found a Blu Ray drive for your computer laptop here, but it is a company based in the United Kingdom (but they do an expedition around the world!). As it is designed for the 5750, there will be no compatibility issues. You'll need is a software to run Blu Ray movies.
