bookmark file

Whats s up with folders "system"?
They appear 5 to 9 times...

They cannot be deleted.
It is very annoying...

has tried:
Addon: places Maintenanceby mak
Addon: bookmark Deduplicator by systemcluster

Ciao, Matthijs

You use Sync to synchronize bookmarks?

If the extension of Maintenance of places cannot repair the database places.sqlite file remove all places.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to rebuild the database places.sqlite latest JSON Firefox backup in the folder bookmarkbackups.

You may need to restore older backups if the last backup is already affected.

  • Could not import the bookmarks file large

I recently bought another computer on Windows. I installed Firefox and tried to import my bookmarks (html) file. I could only import files into my favorites and nothing else. Then I open my file of bookmarks in Firefox and bookmarks I want are still there. The bookmarks file is 15.8 mb in size. Do I need to split this file and, if so, how could I do?

    Thank you!

If you still have the old computer, you can try backup .json (using the backup instead of export). With the new system, restore the .json file.

  • My bookmarks file is by default when using the shortcut ctrl D

My bookmarks file is not by default when selected.

I have to scroll down to find it in heap.

I thought that Mozilla will leave the last favorite folder selected at the top of the list when you use "ctrl D".

I would use "to bookmark all tabs" but I have 2 pinned tabs and almost always some tabs open that I don't want to put in the folder.

I love the D, tab, alt + down ctrl but shouldn't the last folder of bookmarks in the drop-down list be a sticky until you select another?

3.6 x, I could go to the Bookmarks tab and open the "export bookmarks" and saves it to the top of my favorites to an external backup drive. • My computer crashed, but I managed to save my files. How can I transfer my bookmarks from the old Firefox browser and install it on the new computer? I can't find the bookmark file in the old browser.

I'm transferring my files to an HP laptop to a Dell because the crushed HP desktop computer. I installed Firefox 8 in the Dell computer (I got the Firefox 5 - I believe - in the HP). I'm looking for the old bookmarks file in the old computer, but I can't find them. Where are they? I'll appreciate your help because I had a very good collection of bookmarks. Unfortunately I didn't save them from time to time.

Well, you were able to recover your files. I don't know where you have saved your files, but you can use the search function and search your favorites using this search term "bookmark *.» *«. It should be very probably a JSON extension file.

Once you find the file, use this link to help restore backups.

    I hope this helps.

  • Where is the bookmarks file? I need to sync via mobileme.

For the MAC version of Firefox 4.0.1 where is the precise location (path) on the computer where the bookmarks file is stored? What will be the name of the favorite file?
I intend to put the bookmarks on my iDisk (mobileme) file so that my wife and I can have the same bookmarks and sync will keep synchronized.

They are stored in a file called places.sqlite in the profile folder. This file also stores the history of navigation. For the location of the profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

Another method to keep synchronized bookmarks is to use Firefox Sync, which is integrated in Firefox 4. For more information about Firefox Sync, see http://support.mozilla.com/kb/what-firefox-sync?

  • Can I remove my exported html bookmark file after I re any and it merged with my restoration of my old favorites? Even with the json file?

I recently reinstalled my OS on a new drive and have just successfully restored my old favorite and imported all the new bookmarks that I had saved from the OS install. I just want to know if it is safe to remove the json file I have restored from since it was on the old disk I want to format and I can also delete the html file I created by exporting my new bookmarks until I started this process?
    Marc

You can keep a backup of the old file or make backups, backups JSON on the new computer.

You can decide for yourself if you would have a use of this file.

If all bookmarks have been restored successfully, then you won't need the backup, and you can create a new backup regularly if you have modified or added bookmarks.

  • How to import a .json bookmarks file?

I recorded one of my favorites from my PC .json file to transfer it to my laptop (on the laptop that I have Firefox 23.0, I don't know yet which version is the one on the PC). But it does not work, I just keep clicking bookmarks to an HTML file import and it does nothing.

    You do not have.

bookmarks.HTML format is imported, where the JSON format must be restored.

  • Safari bookmarks file is missing

    OS: Yosemite 10.10.5

    Safari V9.1.1

I had a folder in my popular called bookmarks. It was visible on the taskbar Favorites at the top of the window.

It contained all my favorites work.

I just noticed he disappeared and does not appear when I open "edit bookmarks".

Of course, I want to find him.

I read some old threads on bookmarks disappearing, but even if I can find the bookmarks.plist file it looks like my folder missing isn't there.

Any help to find out if it is still a popular place. I think not that I have a Time Machine backup, unless there is an auto backup?

    Hello oldsailquik,

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.

I see your message that it turns out that a folder of bookmarks on your computer has been deleted by accident.  If you have no backup, then you can always try and retrieve bookmarks, as long as you use them with iCloud.

Restore your Safari bookmarks and reading list

    1. Go to settings on iCloud.com, then click on restore bookmarks (in the Advanced section).

Versions are sorted by date and time that they have been archived.

    2. To the right of the version that you want to restore, click on restore.

There may be several versions that can be shown at once. Scroll to see more.

Note: Wait until iCloud finished restoring your bookmarks from Safari and playlist until you change them. While they are being restored, any changes are not saved.

Restored bookmarks and playlist will appear on all your devices set up for iCloud Safari.

iCloud: restore your contacts, calendars and reminders, or bookmarks

    Have a good.

  • Impossible to import the bookmarks file (file is JSON or HTML)

Recently, I reformatted my laptop with a friend (works in), and from what I remember, he saved bookmarks via the function "import and backup / Backup".
When I went to import back into Firefox, and I sailed to the location of the file, it was apparently not recognized because it does not appear in the folder, in that I know that it is. While in this process, I noticed also that Firefox is either looking for a JSON or HTML file. When I looked more closely the backup file, I noticed that it doesn't have a file extension. When I looked at the properties of the file, it simply says "file". I went online looking for an online tool to identify the file and found TrID (http://mark0.net/onlinetrid.aspx/). When I ran across this identification software all that I got was:

"The file appears to be crude/ASCII text. TrID is best suited for analysing binary files! »

As I don't see any option in Firefox to load this file type, I wondered what could have been hurt during the backup process.
I was able to open the file in Excel (just a hunch because it "seemed" be a text file based on the identification of online files). The file opened, useless of course, but at least it seems that the file is not corrupted in any case.

Please could someone help me with this? I have all my links job search in this backup, and it would be a ton of effort to recreate all this!

    Windows XP Home Edition, SP3
    Firefox 14.0.1

By default this pref is false, if the value is true it is userset or has been defined in this way by an add-on.

  • How can I move booksmark to another machine without replacing the bookmarks on the new machine, IE combine a number of bookmarks files

I'll put up a laptop and you want to have all the bookmarks from my desktop machine to be moved there from different accounts, but in the end upward in a single file so that I don't have to have loads of separate accounts.

You must export the Favorites to an HTML file and then import this file. For more details on this see bookmarks Firefox export to a HTML for backup or transfer Favorites and bookmarks to an HTML file import.

If this is likely to create duplicate bookmarks, you can check for them and delete them using the add-on CheckPlaces .

If you want to keep the bookmarks in the laptop and desktop in sync, you can use the add-on Firefox Sync . Firefox Sync will be integrated with Firefox 4.
