Generally with any type of errors of bootstrapper, the only solution is to put your phone in a Verizon store it have shined.

  • The phones software/firmware somehow got corrupted.

Let us know if that fixes the problem, thank you

  • Windows 8 Lenovo Y480 bootloader problem

Hi, I recently bought a Lenovo Y480 preloaded with Windows 8. I reduced the size of the partition of Windows 8 to make a new partition for a new installation of Ubuntu 12.04. Figured, GRUB has messed up the bootloader and I simply can't boot into Windows 8 more.

I tried recovery of Windows 8, but the operating system cannot be detected.

    • Refresh your PC - I get this message: 'the drive where Windows is installed is locked. Unlock the drive, and then try again. "
    • Reset your PC - I get this: "impossible to reset your PC. A required disk partition is missing. »

And so I did the cmd prompt in windows recovery 8 bcdboot my partition, bootrec /fixmbr, but none of them work.

So I tried to restore a Lenovo using the key recovery feature, and I get this message "the program cannot restore the system partition because its structure is incorrect. You may have to re-create the partition to continue '. " I don't have a backup when I first this laptop. I know because I'm sorry for me but it's no use lol. Then I tried to delete my partition ubuntu and do as he used to be. You guessed it, it gives me the same message again.

If you are facepalming during playback I can absolutely understand because I'm about to break and reformat and reinstall windows 8. I have no experience with lenovo and their partitions or software or the UEFI boot loader thing.

Questions are, if I format my windows partition unbootable current 8 and reinstall my Win8 to be here product key with a new will? If I'm screwed?

    Thank you.

And. the answer is, I'm not screwed.

I grew some balls and deleted my windows partition 8. Take a copy of test Windows 8 or whatever we call and install it. Setup rewrites the bootloader and after that I used the one key recovery to recover its initial state.

    Voila. It's good as new.

  • Satellite A200: Can I use the recovery disc without wiping the drive

I read the threads on this forum, but I did not come with an exact answer to my problem.

With my regular PC, I got a disc of Installation of Vista, which is also a recovery disk (like that could do with XP). One of the most useful things is that when you start from the disc you have an option to "fix" the system, which means that all the vital files (such as the bootloader...) will be restored, but otherwise all data will remain. This is extremely important when for example you install a dual boot with Linux, when often Vista refuses to start and to repair the boot loader has solved the problem. Of course it can easily and quickly fix all kinds of other problems in the system as well.

My laptop Toshiba A200 (otherwise a wonderful machine), came with the Toshiba product recovery disc. From everything I read on the forum and what he says on the disc itself, I understand that it only allows a total reinstallation of the system, set at the factory, wiping your drive and everything on it.

Toshiba really leaves us without a 'repair' option '?
I find that quite amazing, because after all, I paid for the Vista operating system, so why shouldn't I get the options I would have if I had an original Vista disc?

If all the above I have is right, it means that if I want to install a dual boot with Ubuntu and would get a bootloader problem, I loose all my data when I have to repair the boot loader? (A problem which, with the option 'fix', takes only 5 minutes to fix!).

I would like to hear reactions, solutions, suggestions or alternatives.

    Thanks in advance,
    Yossi Beck

    Hey Yossi

I think you have misunderstood something!

You received with the image of Toshiba Toshiba Recovery CD! The image contains drivers Vista OS, Toshiba, tools, utilities, and additional programs!

Please don't compare this disc for the original CD of Microsoft Vista and don t mix it!

So using this disk, you can set the laptop back to factory settings!
This is very useful because this procedure takes about 10 minutes only and you get everything functioning OS with all the drivers, tools, etc.

Please note that no all users and customers who buy these phones are technicians and scientists ;) but simply newbie and such possibility of recovery is always welcome!

but the use of this recovery CD format the whole HARD drive and erases all partitions.
That is why it s advisable to back up the data before using the recovery CD/DVDs

  • Problem with re - lock the bootloader

Hi can you please help me with the problem re - lock?

A summary of what has past.

After kitkat 4.4.3 GPS upgrade (from 4.4.2) stopped working, tried everything: reboot, airplane mode, clear the cache, factory reset, etc...) After these procedure, something bad happened and I was not able to start my Moto X, in the boot animation, it stops.

The search in the forum much, the only solution was unlock bootloader and RDS (fastboot) 4.4.2 - Brazil to the detail of the Motorola site.

After this Moto X was alive, but GPS still does not work, it detects the satellites, but their power level increases not (test GPS or GPS status app), when you change the precision, he complains that GPS should be on (but it's on).

So I wanted to send it to repair, because it seems question HW.

Now, I tried to re - lock the bootloader (according to the procedure of re - lock of motorola) but in the first command, I get the following message:

Explanation of the risks of unlocking the bootloader can be accessed hereand the terms legal can be found here.

In legal terms, he said, "the user understands and acknowledges that, because it can be difficult or impossible to know if or ohow a device has changed once its unlock code has been delivered to the user, Motorola disclaims any responsibility for any use of a device either, once he provided the unlock code for the device.»

Maybe someone here in the developer community can offer advice or suggestions... in the meantime, have you tried the convenience store?

  • Problem starting the BIOS NB10t-A-101

I just bought a NB10t to the United Kingdom and try to boot to a bootable USB key

I noticed that the BIOS on this particular model is UEFI mode only, which, in itself, is not a problem because users can sign their own operating systems with a certification authority and use them, but this laptop refuses to boot from any external environment... or even to provide an error message.

I changed boot priority in the BIOS and USB moved up
I disabled the Secure Boot option in the BIOS
I tried all 3 USB ports as well as 3 different drives (NOTE: THESE WORK FINE ON the 3 OTHER SYSTEMS, a dell desktop/laptop computer and a computer acer laptop)
I also tried different distributions (Debian & Arch)
I used several installation methods (hard install of Unetbootin/Full/Rufus etc...)
I tried all your currently released BIOS versions (delivery with V1.0, V1.1 - Jan Feb - V1.2)

After trying all these when you press F12 at startup, the shows start menu but when you select a device, the system continues to initiate (Win8) HARD drive
After Googling around, I noticed that you have unlocked 2 BIOS updates I tried all versions of these and still the system refuses to boot in my selected device

Can we expect more updates of the firmware in the near future? Is there a way to work around this problem to start my chosen OS? Is there an option of CSM?

The laptop can be started from an external source such as USB flash memory stick but make sure of a few important points:
    A few tips:

1 - USB key must be in the right port (USB2).
2 - USB key must be UEFI-bootable (a Debian or Ubuntu, Installer copied on the USB stick with 'dd', is very well).
3 - Bootloader file must be named boot/bootx64.efi (again, a picture of the Debian or Ubuntu installer will be already OK).
4 - now try the ESC key before and during hit the power button, to select the boot device.

Here, I found another thread on this topic:

  • Locked bootloader - it will be unlocked?

    Hi Motorola,

Everyone knows updated in a Motorola phone is very slow! This leaves users with power with no other option, but to go for custom ROMs. Locked bootloader even there always is a very big problem! Motorcycle has long promised return unlock the bootloaders. DEFY and Defy + are now very old phones and will receive no updates either! So now is there any hope that the bootloaders will be unlocked? This discourages many users of devs and the power to obtain motorcycle phones despite a quality excellent construction. I hope that we get a response and this thread do not die no use!

Summary: If you want your bootloader unlocked, contact and encourage politicians relevant to make it illegal to have these restrictions on your purchase phones and quite cleanand come into contact with Electronic Frontiers Foundation (EFF) or your local equivalent and see what you can do to help the cause. Especially, speak (or otherwise, write) on your representative political.

Motorola has indicated that they have no intention of updating the Defy + ICS (or the Defy to gingerbread). In addition, all the elements of evidence so far suggests that they have no intention of ever unlock the bootloader.

I think that the best way to try to solve this problem is to write and speak, your local MP or the equivalent in any State or country you are. In doing so, the real question to raise is this: should it be legal for a hardware manufacturer lock a device that you buy or own so that you can use their software, when the hardware is able to run software from other providers (or even software home made)? By raising this issue with a PM or similar, a question worth asking is whether he could (or should) legal for Dell to sell a PC (i.e. a generalist computing device, as it's a modern phone) that integrates a software lock such that it will work only editing provided by Dell with Windows XP, and only able to be up to date with Windows provided by Dell services packs and not able to be updated Windows XP purchased to another source, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Linux or indeed some operating system that I decided to write it myself. A perspective material such a computer would be able to perform these other operating systems, or the same operating system from another source, but blocked by this software lock.

You can even enforce the fact that with new computers, they can be configured to start in mode 'trust' so only digitally signed code - pretty much the same way that the bootloader is Motorola - but in these new computers this feature can be disabled by the user, if they wish. Disable secure mode has consequences - some software programs that require secure mode does not work - but this option is open to the owner of the hardware store.

I don't understand why Motorola would not to release more updates for the phone models existing. First of all, develop updates (or even new versions of OS, such as ICS) costs them money in development and testing. Second, if the older phones have the latest operating system it will be less impetus for owners of older phone models to buy new phones: why would they, if they already have the latest software? (Let's ignore that most recent phones tend to have a screen better, be faster, have more memory and all the other reasons why people might happen here). In addition to the damage to reputation by not providing software updates continues and timely for their phones, not providing updates is all win, not lose to Motorola.

I guess the reason why Motorola won't let owners of devices Motorola-product run different versions of the operating system, because they would be able to if the phones have locked bootloaders, is related to the second reason above: Why buy a new device if you have the latest version of the OS even when? However, there are several other arguments that Motorola could deploy to support conservation a bootloader locked, and I'll just briefly beat two of them here:

    1. increase support costs (A) - warranty issues

Argument: If the boot loader is not signed, then people will not be able to mess with their software and then wait for their device to be repaired under warranty when they mess up the software. Thus, the cost of support under warranty will increase.

Answer: There are several ways to approach this.

One would be to provide a bootloader unlocked for a device only when the warranty expires, so that the repair will be no longer covered under warranty anyway.

A second way is for Motorola to provide a service in which they re Flash the phone (as they already do for every single phone that comes repair) expensive. This way, if someone mess the software on their phone Motorola can make a little money on it (even if they want to keep the tax in accordance with the actual cost of someone having to reflash + small margin beneficiary or consumer law may have something to say).

A third way would be to allow users to reflash the firmware on the phone stock (which, I would stress, Motorola, users can and already do if they find the right software).

2 increase support costs (B) - general support (forums, phone, etc.).

Argument: Motorola could begin receiving calls to technical support to users with versions customized OS on their phone. This would increase the cost of the media.

Answer: Motorola could start a support conversation by saying "you run the official stock version of the operating system on the phone" and if the answer is no, are not supported. Better yet, they could direct the user to a link to get the tools you need to reflash their telephone (stock - victory for Motorola restoring), or referring users to a service center for Motorola in which the phone can be reflashed for a free (so restore on stock AND assorted priced reflashing - victory and money for the Motorola)

    3. impact of the possible undeserved reputation

Argument: Motorola Reputation may suffer because people make negative comments about the device based on the use of custom software

Answer: If it was possible for users of flash one OS on their phone, and this behavior were commonplace enough that bad experiences with a custom OS were being widely attributed to the material, so I suspect that people would be also aware of the possibility of using a BONE custom to ask if a custom OS has been used , and if that is may be to blame.

    Summary:

My advice is don't expect Motorola to do anything under their own steam - there is no business case for them to do. I guess Motorola feels there is enough few users who do not want to install customized versions of the operating system on their device (i.e. the device entirely owner) that they can afford to lose, as customers, and the number of people buying new phones for more recent versions of software will be more than compensated for this loss. In doing so, they may be overlooking the role that these users to be able to play in recommending to other phones (or more accurately, suggesting brands to avoid because I know that several Motorola users do). In addition, as long as the competitors of Motorola are also locking phones (for example, S-ON on HTC phones) customers have fewer alternative options that run away from Motorola.

So, if you want Motorola to unlock the bootloader, so do not complain of Motorola - they have demonstrated that they won't listen. Complain to your local MP; get in touch with the electronic freedom group your local area (State or country) as EFF (U.S.A.), FTA (Australia) or other. Motorola and other phone makers, will change their behaviour when required to by law.

In the meantime, you can check on XDA-Developers and other similar sites that provide a wealth of information on how to improve the capabilities of your phone and accidentally destroy.

Device is LOCKED. Status code: 0

I never put all ROm that came with Marshmallow installed with OTA was last updated.

If anyone can help me identify the problem and show me how to solve this problem.

The only help we offer here is a reset. If this fails then service is the only option user from the point of view of Motorola.

  • How to block the bootloader on RAZR HD (xt925)

Is it possible to block the bootstrapper on this unit? Trying to get rid of the warning at startup message.

The usual 'fastboot oem lock' command does not work.

Unlike a Nexus device, this device is NOT intended to be hacked or modified, unless you have a developer edition, in which case if you did unlock, you cancelled your warranty.

There is no way to completely block the bootloader.

The warning message comes from a fuse broke on the phone so that you can not ask for warranty repair or replacement in case of problems.

I'm sorry, I just couldn't offer the best news for you. There are ways to return to the image of 'stock', but you will always have the message during startup.

Here is a link to the instructions:

  • How can I block bike e bootloader

Hi my name is Chavigny I bike e I get problem with locking the bootloader and I have no original for e-bike image help

As far as I know, the E bike isn't a developer edition phone. Unlock the bootloader will void the warranty and puts you on your own.

I know that to relock the bootloader, you need a factory image to Flash - perhaps you can find one that someone has saved from another site.

I don't know if you look, you can find it. Unfortunately we can not help you with that here.

  • problems with upgrade hard drive on X200s

Hi I'm trying to upgrade my old hard drive (SATA 200 GB at 7200 RPM) on my X200s (Windows XP - SP3, 3 GB of RAM) to a new hard drive: Seagate Momentus 750 GB

To do this, I created 3 partitions in my new hard drive:

    1. a 400 GB partition to recreate the existing Windows system

    2. a 25 GB recovery partition, which is preventing the drive from origin of the existing partition from rescue

    3. the rest (about 325 casuals) on a FAT32 partition empty (on which I intend to install linux or freebsd later)

Then I cloned the recovery disks and windows using Acronis and then replaced the old disk with a new one.

Finally, I see the following error message:

Playing a disc error has occurred

Press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to restart

I tried to fix the master boot record using a disk objects, but the hot spare displays the blue screen of death at half way through. Put the old drive brings the system online. New drive works as well when I put in a basket USB and find in files.

So I would like to know if there is a way to step by step to diagnose the problem.

    Thanks in advance.

OK, I think I thought about her. There seems to be some kind of problem of bootloader. To fix a little:

1 make sure that you create a rescue disk before doing the clone and replace. I highly recommend the Hiren's boot disk that you can download here:

    http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/

    2. can the amorçage using this disk. From there, I see the options - Boot Windows / XP in the main hard drive (it's the first option). When I select it, I can start fine in the cloned disk.

  • (Closed) Getting to unlock bootloader key of disorder

Hello, recently I tried to unlock my bootloader on my Android 4.4.4 KitKat Moto X phone, I reached a point where I had to ask for the unlock key to Motorola. I copy and paste the codes of the DOS console boot loader, but when I enter the code on the website, the site will tell me my device is not qualified for a unlock for the bootloader. I even made sure there is no space, I even copied the code on Notepad first before I repasted it on the site, always without success. I know there are already discussions on this topic, but in these discussions, the assistants had to individually help fowarding the code to someone. Here are some photos,

Try to publish in this Post. It is precisely for bootloader unlock problems. I hope this helps.
