  I'm a newbie with InDesign CS6 rank. I have a document preset for 3 columns. If I enter text with Shift-click, the text flows properly column to column as I want. But if I apply a background first color page (using the Logframe tool and filling), then I can not enter text in the column, but instead, it goes into the background space. And if I have everything first enter text and then apply a background color of page, it covers the text and I can't object-organize-send to the rear, because the function is not active. What can I do to get a page background color AND be able to enter text in a column so that it automatically empties into the following columns?

  You could also use text linked with the tool switch and place content, check the link and use different styles.

  You have placed your beam to insert at the end of your text on page 13 and then apply Insert menu: Page Break? In the v5.6.2, Pages I just add a new page to a section of four pages to this approach.

• What would cause the mouse to scroll slowly on Web pages, but normally on text documents?

  I have a strange problem. I have a Logitech M305 mouse on another machine which is too slow scrolling on Web pages. I ordered a new mouse, but today I noticed the old mouse normally scroll in text documents, even though the text document is displayed in Firefox (such as the "subject: config" page).

  Normally, a page will scroll 3 lines for each click of the mouse wheel.
  On Web pages, it changes and it takes 3 clicks of the mouse wheel to get the page to scroll.

  It is troubling to move the mouse wheel and don't have anything happen until the third click.

  So the question is, what would make the mouse wheel behave differently on the Web pages and pages of text, and how can I solve this problem?

  BTW, this is a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit. I use the same exact type of install now on another machine with a mouse Logitech M510 and normally scrolls on all pages.

  OK, a final report on this issue. Yesterday, before installing the new mouse M325, I decided to uninstall the Logitech SetPoint software. I wanted a new installation of the software for the mouse to go with the new mouse.

  To my surprise, after the set point has been uninstalled the old mouse M305 scroll normally on pages of text and Web pages. It seems that something mysterious happened in the relationship between Firefox and the original installation of set point. Firefox made some adjustments or updates of its own regarding record just as it does for modules, I saw it happen a couple of times before. /shrug

  New mouse + set works perfectly with FireFox now and the old mouse M305 + setpoint is now works well with an old laptop XP Pro, at least as long as the button pop-up gimpy holds.

  Solution, in this case: uninstall the Logitech SetPoint mouse software, and then reinstall a new copy of it.

  The Pages ' 09, or Pages v5.6.1 allowed scanner captures in a Pages document. You need to use a snippet and use the file menu: import from a Scanner. Then you can copy/paste this PDF pages result as an object. If your scanner is equipped with optical character recognition software, it can convert the text in PDF, Word or text document.

  Using the front panel of the printer, I loaded the defaults of the printer, and that fixed the problem.

  Go to a page of internet translator like Bing Translator or Google Translate and paste the body of the text file in the text box for the foreign language. This can be done by opening the text document by pressing on Ctrl + A (e.g. Select) then Ctrl + C (e.g. copy). Then, place the cursor in the new place and pressing Ctrl + V (for example the dough). Let the program automatically detect the language of the source if you are not sure of its origin, and then click translate to the English equivalent.

  I went back to an old project Adobe Illustrator I have not opened for years but suddenly need to recovery. To my horror, I discovered that I can not open ONE of these old files HAVE. In the finder, each of these files is shown not as an .ai file, but as a "simple text document. When opening, it does is display a text code page, not my graphics HAVE. I'm currently running AI CS5 on Mac OSX 10.8.5. I would greatly appreciate all useful advice - what someone might have on this subject. Y at - it HAVE a plug-in available for update old files? No matter what?

  Hi everyone who responded, or interested:

  I think I found the fix, courtesy of the Mac guru at the University where I teach. If I just add the suffix .ai on behalf of all of my files, they instantly change to read Adobe Illustrator files! Couldn't be simpler, although it raises a question. These files will open very well without needing to be done with the file at the end of each title designations. Now, suddenly, they need ".ai" after them to open properly. Well. At least, I have a solution to this problem.  Thanks for all the good advice!

  myText.textVariableInstances.everyItem (.resultText) would do it.

  The representation of a TextVariable on the page is a TextVariableInstance. They are objects of 'text' (parent may be: cell phone, change, note, Note, history, TextFrame, XmlStory). • The top of page 2 appeared at the bottom of Page 1

  Top of page 2 is now appearing at the bottom of Page 1 and I can't seem to understand how to bring it to the appropriate page.  I searched on Google and he suggested starting point tool.  In order to better explain what is my problem... in Word (and the document has been created from a form; not a Word document) I would have used a page break.  Unable to find anything like that.

  I just started using InDesign for the formatting of books. I created a text variable to use as a head of the race with each chapter at the top of the page name. The problem is: I want to incorporate a small graphic symbol in the head of the race, next to the name of the chapter. I put all the elements on a master page, but since the length of the variable text changes with each chapter name, the distance between the graphics and the current title changes. Is there anyway to integrate a graphic in the variable text itself, so it remains constant with changing text?

  You can not put the image in the variable, but it looks like you want it next to the variable. What you can do.

  Place the graphic symbol in current title after the variable text, or, if you already have put as a static picture, cut the frame and paste it into the text after the variable. If he has pasted or placed in the text, it will be an anchored frame and it will be able to move in the text moves (as the variable takes up more or less text).

  Thank you for your quick response. I thought I had followed your instructions by creating a new document and save it as a template. The mistake I made was selecting a new basic HTML when I was selecting the new model basic HTML. This time, I got the correct tags, the copied on my model and it works now. Thank you for your help.
