Bridge CS5 crashes repeatedly (CS4 too)

A typical workflow for me is to open 4-5 (.dngs) in Camera Raw in bridge raw files, edit, save as TIFF, return to the bridge and move the raw files to a subfolder. My problem arises usually when I try to move the raw files. Bridge moves them, but at the same time it crashes. I can move 1 file at a time without crashing, but not 2 or more.

I hoped CS5 would solve this problem, but it didn't. I trashed my prefs, several times. I purged the cache several times. I changed my openGL settings in Photoshop Basic. Every thing I try works for a short time (which means that for about an hour I can come 2 .dngs both in subfolders after backup/editing in Camera Raw). Then it stops working, and I'm back for repeated failures.

I am under Photoshop CS5 x 64 in Windows 7, with 12 GB of Ram, a quad-core i7 processor and an ATI Radeon 4870 graphics card. Photoshop CS4 and now CS5, work like a dream; and that's of Camera Raw. I know Bridge cannot see most of this RAM, but I would really like that it works as well as it did in CS3, on a much older, slower machine for me.

Is it a problem other people had? I was not able to find much about it in the forums or Google, only a solution involving a nVidia graphics card, which I did not. Oh-, I have the latest drivers for my graphics card, etc.

    Joseph Heller would be proud.

Adobe Bridge, CS5 crashes when starting.  I downloaded Photoshop CS5 Extended, installed on my new MacBook Air (this computer has never seen any product of CSx).  Installed CS5 installed SC4 legacy serial number serial number, all right.  Photoshop works very well.  I installed all my plugins Nik and Bokeh Plugin.  All right.  I tried to launch the bridge, and it crashes during launch "not able to be achieved.  An unknown operating system error has occurred. "Adobe has released an update, I downloaded, but when installing, it crashes too (could not perform the update and provided a link to the Adobe support.)

Hours later with Adobe ovens.  Tried:

    (1) by removing the PLIST file for bridge, no luck.

    (2) tried the trick of the Bridge Option to reset all the preferences in Bridge, no luck.

    (3) bridge created a new account Admin, connected to it, worked.

    (4) technical support adobe says it's now a problem with Apple because the program has worked with the new admin account.

    (5) says Apple book sand, it is a program of Adobe, it should work regardless of what admin account.

    (6) back to Adobe, talked to anyone at the third level (always 1), it's an Apple problem.  He suggests to disable Photoshop, uninstall Photoshop, run a clean script (that I just downloaded but haven't tried) which will remove all the files that have to do with CS5 uninstaller doesn't uninstall (completely logical), re - download and reinstall everything, yet once (I've not tried yet).

Do a Google search for crashing at the opening of the bridge reveals a frightening amount of comments with people having similar problems (don't even get started me on Adobe Air).

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

    Hey Arnie,.

We have this (former) document on the problem that you describe. The solutions are still valid.

Troubleshoot unexpected behavior that occurs only in a particular user account. Adobe on Mac OS software

    http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/408/kb408993.html

Here are the locations of specific Bridge preferences, you can try to pass Bridge CS5 files the following paths on the desktop to ensure all get recreated and exist. I know that you had mentioned the PLIST one already in #3.

[It] in the path would be your specific user account.

If your user account was not all permissions of read/write on any of these directories, which could also be the cause.

  • Too dark JPEG thumbnails in bridge CS5

All of a sudden my jpeg thumbnails appear very dark and muddy in bridge CS5. These images are normal when opened in Photoshop appropriate brightness.

Everything also confusing is when a jpeg image is then "registered under" back to the same folder to (for example) the jpeg tiff seems dark, but the TIFF of the same file version seems correct. RAW files still look correct.

This seems to be a recent problem in the form of jpeg images, I treated a few weeks ago still stove display normally in bridge.

I tried to purge the cache of the file without effect. Thumbnail quality is set to "high". I think I was able to accidentally change a setting, but can not think wghat he might be. Help, please.

JPEG images are all too dark, all other file types will be displayed properly

Thanks for the screenshot, here's what I think. You have defined a custom default for a JPEG setting.

To check simply select the JPEG darker and with click right mouse menu, select "open in Camera Raw". This should open the JPEG in the Camera Raw. on the Basic tab, check if the exposure setting or other parameters have changed values other then set to zero.

If so, here is your problem.

Click the icon of the menu just to the right of the "basic" title (under the icons) and at the bottom of this menu, choose Reset camera Raw default and check if the file gets its normal exposure. Then the move that was made.

    You can test this?

  • InDesign CS5 to crash repeatedly.

I use Indesign CS5 for about a year now, migration of Quark. It has been remarkably stable, running on my iMac OSX10.6.8, 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/4 GB of SDRAM. Then suddenly today, a particular file starated crashing repeatedly.  I ran disk on a different startup disk utility, repaired permissions; everything checked out OK. Always crashing. I created new documents and slide thumbnails of page by page, trying to ID of the offending page, but crashes every doc of this line. (It would take a lot of time to rebuild from scratch.) The original doc became irrecoverable. The original breaking file had a few rows of type on a circular path and I was wondering if that was the problem.  I deleted my .plist. Finally, I uninstalled and reinstalled the creative Suite5 together. Always crashing. Any ideas? I need to be running for my work. Thank you, Dianne,.

Looks like a corrupted document http://forums.adobe.com/thread/526991

From time to time code can accumulate on the saved - or elements on a page are corrupt.

If the link does not quite work for you then I suggest another method - divide and conquer.

When files become dark like that I'll take the file and split into half - and then see what document crashes or becomes unstable.

I then take this file and divided in half again once. Then I can finally he whittle until a range of reconstruction and pages - usually this small page range will fix the problem.

  • Bridge CS5 with CS4 files cache problem

If I use Bridge CS4 on a directory, then open the directory even with Bridge CS5, bridge insist on rebuilding thumbnails and previews (as shown on the lower status line).    If I reopen it then the directory in Bridge CS4, it rebuilt again inches and previews - but only inches seem to be rebuilt.   Preferences in both versions of the bridge are "identical".  The bridge cache files are kept in directories of images.

The construction of the cache seems to be pretty fast (faster than expected) - I don't know what, if anything, is being rebuilt.

    What is an operation expected?

This poses some difficulties that I have 530 000 images (7 terabytes) on Bridge CS4 and the reconstruction of the files would literally take weeks to rebuild.

Central cache built in Bridge CS4 allows not in Bridge CS5, as expected.  But there is a way to save a lot of time is the construction of a local cache in CS4, which will produce 2 hidden files '. '. BridgeCache «and» BridgeCacheT' in the same folder with your images.  After that when you open the folder in CS5, the thumbnails can get out of the local cache, which will be much faster to rebuild the cache.

For reference, there are 2 ways to build the local cache:

    1. check the option "Automatically export Cache files when Possible" in preferences > Cache.  This will produce a cache local to each folder as you navigate so you don't need to worry about build manually.  It is unchecked by default.

    2. manually build a local cache for a folder and all its subfolders by innovation in the folder that you want to build, then the selece tools > Cache > build and Cache export, with the option "Export Cache files" checked, click 'OK '.

Please try it and tell me if this solves your problem.

    Thank you!

  • Layout to the bridge (CS5)

When I used Bridge & CS5, I had what seemed to me a very satisfactory layout. On the left side were: metadata, bookmarks and folders. Below: filter, Collections and export. To the right of these was a portrait of the images in the folder "film". And to the right of this band is a Preview Panel (forgive me if the names are false). However, at some point given, I clicked on something and now 'film' is horizontal and under the preview. It would not too, but either I do the film a bunch of very small, or preview is not big enough. How do I drag the band so that it is vertical again?

    Thank you

    David

In Bridge, you could try window > Workspace > overview, but you will probably need to go to the window and check the metadata Panel so that it appears as described above.

Bridge works similar to photoshop to be able to dock and move the panels and once you get bridge to setup as you want, you can go to the window > workspace > new workspace.

  • Disappear keywords Bridge CS5

I know that this has been talked about on the MAC and PC forums for the bridge and has been a problem with the version of CS3 to CS5.  However, it doesn't receive the attention of Adobe.

I went through the Mac and Win from CS3 to CS5 forums and there are several lists of people lose their key words.  I just lost againmine, after their reconstruction about two weeks ago.  On another call, 3782474, Paul graciously produced a script to build your existing keywords.  You have to reenter the!  Adobe, PLEASE fix this.  I copied the key file and saved it to a backup location. When I lost my file this last time, I restored this file.  He stll did not work!  I have not updated all Adobe products, other products of window or patches.  The only thing I've done in the last two weeks is photo editing and goes from a disk storage across the bridge to find photos.  I'm afraid that if I lose the one I have just manually recreated that I no longer use bridge since it is one of the features that attracts me to it.  I don't know there are other products to a keyword search.

Adobe, I hope you read this thread and take control.  I'm running on Windows 7 and Bridge CS5.

    Thank you

It is probably a good idea to backup your Adobe Bridge Keywords.xml (completely filled) file manually too.

  • Cannot open the camera raw 6.0 Bridge CS5

I just installed photoshop CS5 and I'm unable to view and open my NEF files in Camera Raw in Bridge CS5.  It worked perfectly fine with CS4 Bridge and Camera Raw 5.1.0.30.  Anyone have any suggestions other than using my old Bridge CS4. I have mas OS X 10.6.3 installed on my computer.

    Thank you very much

I uninstalled and reinstalled the whole photoshop CS5 and it's always the same... I am at lost and using my old CS4 bridge for now.

You must confirm that the Camera Raw plugin has been properly installed so that the two bridge _and_ Photoshop can access. For Mac only right place is to be installed is: the level of the root (not the user library) library. To the inside of the eye to Library Application Support / Adobe/Plug-ins / CS5 / File Formats / camera Raw.plugin

If plug in Camera Raw isn't here or one of these folders are not there then Camera Raw is not correctly installed... If Camera Raw is correctly installed, then you may need to do several things... first of all, in the folder that you want to see raw images, and ride under Tools / Cache / purge the Cache for the file. If this does not work, you may have to trash your preferences in Bridge CS5. To do this, hold down the command / Option / Shift key while double-clicking the bridge app icon and choosing preferences reset...

If Camera Raw was not properly installed, sorry, you can not help... you may have to contact Customer Service for technical support installation.

  • Previews in Bridge CS5 are not sharp

The Panel in Bridge CS5 preview images are not strong (almost blurry). Also when I select an inch and view it using the method of the space bar (of the bridge) the picture not sharp. Anyone has any idea why? They look fine in Bridge CS4. I searched for a setting, preferably without result. It doesn't matter if it's RAW or JPG (same results).

When I select an image and view using the space bar (in the finder) looks sharp/normal.

    Thank you.

You generate previews monitor size (an option in preferences)? You will need purge the cache for the records after making this choice.

  • Use of the spell checker crashes InDesign CS4

    Hello

Have installed InDesign CS4 and updated to 6.0.3

But whenever I try to check the spelling in any document or access the dictionary in file > Prefs, InDesign crashes.

Have done all the usual checks, repair disk permissions, set cell former InDesign Prefs file, then recreated fresh file, not identified any conflict in the Console, run as an Application only on Mac InDesign. I have no third-party plug-in in the plug in folder, set up the default printer in the Print Center, logged on as another user who has administrator privileges, troubleshooted all my fonts, defragged the hard drive and checked all hardware.

Still InDesign crashes when you try to access the dictionary in file > Prefs, or simply to check spelling Edit > check spelling in all - new or previously created document.

In fact the first time check I'm using spelling (Edit > check spelling) in a document, the spelling will appear, but with a US instead of a British spellcheck, I can't change that in file > because InDesign Prefs, it blocks.

Then if I try to check spelling Edition > check spelling a second wheel rotation, the time appears and bang - crash repeatedly.

InDesign CS4 6.0.3 Mac OS 10.5.7 running on a Mac Pro 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon with 2 GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 2600XT.

The CS3 clean script would be a mistake, I think. There is a version of CS4, but which would remove the other CS4 applications as well.

Being a Windows user, I'm not well versed in all potential problems in OS X, but this kind of accident is sometimes related to fonts. You have any kind of font utility, you can run to check for damaged fonts? You use a font manager?

What about the other third-party plugins? You must disable ALL the non Adobe plugins and test again. Alternatively, you can rename the folder to SING, even if problems that have generally crash at startup, I think.

Have you tried to create a new account clean and stable in this? What permission repair, Disk Warrior and other typical functions of Mac maintenance?

    Firefox crashes repeatedly

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. As this feature has been added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there are still some problems.

You will have to perhaps restart Firefox for it to take effect, so save any work first (e.g. you compose mail, documents online that you are editing, etc.).

    Then perform the following steps:

    • Click on the orange top left Firefox button, then select the 'Options' button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to tools > Options.
    • In the Firefox options window, click the Advanced tab, and then select 'General '.
    • You will find in the list of parameters, the checkbox use hardware acceleration when available . Clear this check box.
    • Now restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

In addition, please check the updates for your graphics driver by following the steps in the following knowledge base articles:

  • CS5 crashes when you try to print

Note: I tried that before sending.  Don't go through.

    -------------------------------------------------

According to the web, this issue has been beaten to death.

Still no solution as far as I can tell.

I tried to reload CS5 disk, new drivers for the printer, delete preference files,... literally every suggestion on the web has been tried.

If I click on "Print a copy", it works fine.

The moment I click Print in 'Print,' CS5 crashes.

Before continuing, let me just say, I do not use Photoshop as part of my work.  Perhaps, I use it 3 or 4 times a year to clean a photo before printing it and hanging on my wall.  All this 'Creative cloud' would be a waste of money for me.

By-the-way, is another software that does what the old Photoshop and now enjoys?

Is it not possible to, say, put in a dialogue box that actually says: what is the problem instead of leaving CS5 crash?

Go in your System Preferences > Security & Privacy > General and check allow applications downloaded on: Anywhere.

    Install the 12.0.4 update

Then put the security settings to where they were.
