Brightness of the display 6730 b & Windows 7

I just set up Windows 7 on my 6730 laptop b and now impossible to adjust the brightness of the screen with the keyboard function keys. I now have a XP Pro/Win 7 Pro dual-boot machine, and the function keys work always correctly on XP. In a previous post, I have seen that some had success by downloading the driver Win 7 Mobile Intel 4 Express from the Intel site instead of using the one provided by HP. I did, and it had no effect on the problem I have. I first removed the old driver, then I installed the one from Intel, and it made no difference. Any ideas or suggestions? Thank you

Kevin Berlen

Problem solved. I went to the HP support site and installed the drivers from quick launch and essentials windows 7, set the power plan for performance of maximum display and viola, labour now buttons. I'm not sure how I did it caused to start working, but I'm glad it's working now. Thank you, Kevin

  • Satellite L50 - B - 12 G - can't change the brightness of the display

    Hi people,

For some reason that I can't find out, since yesterday I can not change the brightness on my deskop.
    It's a Satelite L50 - B - 12 G with Windows 8.1, 64 bit.

(F2 and F3) function key does not move the scroll bar, and when I try the same thing on the control panel is like this:
It is not simply to change the brightness

At the same time, when I'm with an open office document or on a web page, don's work the cursor as usual... it is slower to move from one cell to another cell in Excel for example.
The sane is to arrive with the page down key.

Can anyone help on this? It becomes very annoying.

    Best regards
    Jose

How did you try to increase or decrease the brightness of the screen?
Did you press the FN key also?

Well, as you said the F2 and F3 keys increases or decreases the brightness of the display
The extra pressure of the FN button depends on the key mode feature which is located in:
    Office Assist-> tools & utilities-> Control Panel-> keyboard

Permit special mode button allows you to use special features without pressing the FN key.

That's why I recommend that you check this setting!

  • Satellite L650-11F - question about brightness of the display by using Win XP

    I apologize;
I want to know is why in windows xp before you plug the adapter into the laptop (Toshiba L650-11F), screen light is bright, but when I drag the adapter, the display light is dark? And the driver is installed

    Please help me

    Hello

Alternatively, you can change the brightness of the screen by using the FN + F6 and FN F7.
But as mentioned by Akuma; You should check the power options.
I guess that the Toshiba Power Saver is installed because you use Win XP.

In the configuration of the Toshiba Power Saver, you can assign the screen brightness level to certain power profile. For example; You can define a profile of power when the laptop is connected to the power adapter or another profile of power for battery operation.

Perhaps the brightness of the display is set to a lower level, while the laptop works on sector
Then change this value, and I think that this will solve your problem.

  • Satellite L40 - 12 k WinXP - cannot change the brightness of the display

    Got Toshiba Satellite l40 - 12 k laptop.
Running Windows XP Pro. The problem is that I can not change the brightness of the display even with hotkey utility for Win Vista installed. But if I'm in the bios of these keys work fine. Even when I started these keyboard shortcuts from gParted Live CD worked fine.

But when I boot Win XP they stop working. So if I want to change the brightness I have to restart or hibernation, the time to change display BRIGHTNESS level because he remembers the last burst upward. So what is the problem? Don't tell about the hardware optimized for Vista, but not for other OS.

When there will be avaible vor Win XP drivers? OK I understand it's MS that has the problem to a normal BONE, but well guys it is so big problem to run under XP?

The funny thing is that everything else works fine and all the drivers I needed, I found in the homepage of Intel. So can hope on a support user, because now I know that it is not hardware problem because even a Live CD of gParted worked these keyboard shortcuts?

PS Sorry for my bad English.

    > So what's the problem? Don't tell about the hardware optimized for Vista, but not for other OS.

Unfortunately, you are right. The XP is not compatible with the BIOS on the L40.
Several different sets of Toshiba supports two different BIOS for XP and Vista.

The Fn keys does not work because the BIOS does not support the XP completely.

I think that you will not be able to use the FN key pressed until the BIOS and drivers needed for XP will be released.

Please SEND THIS If POSSIBLE to BILL GATES AND ALL OTHER MICROSOFT GURU OR MANAGER WHO CARES REALLY BRING of BILLION OF DOLLARS EXTRA to MICROSOFT OF the STRANGER.  OR AT LEAST SEND TO ANYONE WHO CARES MORE TO THE SUCCESS OF MICROSOFT AND THE FUTURE.
My question to which I have still not got an answer was; If "Windows 7 Ultimate" has a button by which we could change the display language for windows with a single click in the computer. To change this through many steps are not an option for billions of nonEnglish speakers who doesn't understand enough about how to do these steps, so they decide that it is not worth to buy Windows in a foreing language to them, so they use just illegal free or cheep Windows copy from one computer to the other. They prefer windows in English, but only at certain times to have display in English and to be able to go to their native language at will. We want a button click on change of English in any foreign language major, on and before each time that decide us or want to change.
Many steps in trying to change the display language is not an option. I am an English speaker fluent, but I like both French and Spanish. I have XP, but for me it is better to buy the Windows7Ultimate if he proposes a change to the language screen button click in windows. IT IS NOT AT ALL FOR ME TO BUY WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE IF I Y GO EVERY TIME THROUGH THE PROCESS ENTIRE HEADACHE TO UNINSTALL ALL MY PROGRAMS AND WIDOWS AND INSTALL AGAIN JUST TO HAVE THE DISPLAY OF THE LANGUAGE I WANT AT ANY TIME I WANT.    BILLIONS OF PEOPLE ON EARTH DESIRES TO PASS ENGLISH LANGUAGE MORE THE WORLD AND THEIR OWN LANGUAGE THEY UNDERSTAND BETTER, TO SWITCH YOU AS MANY TIMES AS YOU NEED OR WANT IT, EVERY DAY WHEN DOES.
It is not practical for us, nor possible because we do not have the time to uninstall windows or a 5 times language pack, or 6 or 7 times a day just so that we could switch between English and French or Spanish or Chinese-Mandarin Hindu SEVEN times per day that we might need. WE WANT to SWITCH BETWEEN WINDOWS DISPLAY LANGUAGE ENGLISH AND ALL OTHER MAIN FOREIGN LANGUAGE 100 TIMES a DAY IF WE FEEL WITH THE CLICK OF A button I LOVE and no one should stop us to do, and I mean that WE SHOULD HAVE THAT OPTION of BEING ABLE to DO so, BUT I'M NOT aware THAT WE DO.
SO please LET ME KNOW IF I HAVE the OPTION with the HELP of THE OTHERWISE ULTIMATE de WINDOWS 7 IT does IS NOT INTERESTING for me to buy Windows7Ultimate since Windows XP, it's still as good or better.    About 5 billion people on earth or more do not speak English a lot understand enough - well BUT they would like to (and I will) to switch between the English and their (or my) native language in the display of Windows, several times per day whenever we want.
Have we THAT the OPTION TO CHANGE THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE in WINDOWS WITH a SINGLE CLICK of a BUTTON AVAILABLE IN Windows7Ultimate OR NOT?

That's what I need to know, but no one answered my question so far.  Don't give me more than a link to a web page where I could buy or download a language pack that I would have to install and uninstall 10 times a day if I want to change from English to Spanish or the French and return in English and Spanish, and so on 10 times a day.  This process is stupid and a waste of time and it is not difficult, if not impossible for most of us (of the billion of us). WE NEED AND WE WANT TO CHANGE THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE IN WINDOWS WITH A SINGLE CLICK OF A BUTTON AS MANY TIMES WE WANT EVERY DAY.  IF I PAY MICROSOFT A LOT OF MONEY IT SHOULD AT LEAST BE WORTHED.
SO GIVE US WHAT WE WANT. ABOUT 5 BILLION OF US SPEAK NOT ENGLISH FAIRLY WELL, EVEN IF WE WISH TO PASS ENGLISH AND OUR LANGUAGES KINDERGARTEN ON, BEHIND 10 OR 20 OR 100 TIMES A DAY, AS WE CAN HAVE THE NEED OF THE DO.  We cannot simply install and uninstall some language pack 10, 20 or 100 times a day else we will not be able to do anything except waste our valuable time.  SO GIVE US WANT WE WANT.
    PLEASE DO NOT IGNORE US.
PEOPLE IGNORED USES PIRATE WINDOWS WINDOWS TOOK A COPY AND DISSEMINATE OR INSTALLED IN HUNDREEDS OF THOUSANDS OF COMPUTERS. It's in your best interest, not to ignore the poor who are familiar with the English people or foreigners, who believes that if they can't buy the windows with this option (to BE ABLE to SWITCH THE DISPLAY LANGUAGE BETWEEN ENGLISH AND THEIR OWN NATIVE WINDOWS WITH THE click OF A BUTTON AS MANY TIMES as THEY WISH every DAY) , then it is not worth to buy it at all, but not worth it from one computer to the other side even if it is illegal.  This is the case today in most of the countries of the Earth. There are more illegal copies of Windows 98 and 2000 in use abroad as any copy of Windows abroad, for this reason = IT does IS NOT WORTH the MONEY WITHOUT THE SWITCHING "ONE click" of ENGLISH FOR FOREIGNERS AND BACK AND FORTH.
You want to address this problem through the introduction of Windows 7 Ultimate, where you can change the language with the click of a button and worth to have the original of these windows, not you?
-I would like to personally, otherwise I won't be wasting my time of Magor write you about the need to switch Windows language display to be made possible by a click of a button.
IF YOU DON'T CARE ABOUT BILLIONS OF PEOPLE OVERSEAS WITH SUCH NEED AND DESIRE, THEN AT LEAST TO RESPOND TO A FEW HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF FANS OF MULTI LINGUIST OR - SPEAKERS MULTILINGUAL; AND DO YOUR MATH BY MULTIPLYING THIS NUMBER WITH $250 BY THE NEW COPY OF WINDOWS SOLD. (IT HAS TO DO WITH BILLIONS OF DOLLARS IN ANNUAL PROFITS). THIS MUST SURELY BE A VERY NICE HIKE IN PROFIT AND IN THE SHARES OF MICROSOFT.  BUT IF YOU WANT TO BE A LOSER OR A SABOTEUR FROM MICROSOFT, THEN GO AHEAD, CONTINUE TO IGNORE THE UNITED STATES AND OUR NEED. MANY OF MY FRIENDS BELIEVES THAT MICROSOFT MINDS AS CLEAR AS THEY ARE, don't ARE STILL NOT BRIGHT ENOUGH to MAKE POSSIBLE TEL NEED AVAILABLE - that is to say: to make possible the switch of the Windows display language from English to another major foreign language with a simple click on a button for us to be able to do is as many times a day as you could want.
I tell my friends that they are wrong and that you can sell these windows.
My second question is: ARE they HAVE RIGHT?  OR AM I RIGHT?   WHATEVER THEY ARE, JUST PLEASE GIVE ME ANSWERS TO MY QUESTIONS AND DID NOT GIVE ME ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS I NEVER ASKED. PLEASE, I BEG YOU.
AND THIS MESSAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY TO BILL GATES (IF POSSIBLE) OR FOR CERTAIN EXECUTIVES OF MICROSOFT RESPONSIBLE AND WISE MAN WHO COULD AND ADDRESSES THESE ISSUES.   IF YOU WANT OUR MONEY OUTSIDE CANADA, PARTICULARLY OUR EUROS, THEN TO GIVE US WHAT WE WANT.
A FRIEND far AWAY WHO JUST SEE WHAT I AM WRITING TO YOU, SAID: "IF THEY are not, THEN THE _ WITH ALL THEIR NEW WINDOWS BECAUSE WE're NOT GOING to BUY EVERYTHING FOR THE NEXT YEARS of 1O if IL VA y BEING MORE UPDATES OF OUR XP is or NOT."
About me... maybe I'll stick with my XP for ten years but I could probably use it for the next seven years UNLESS I could buy a copy of the window earlier that allows the windows display language can be maneuvered with a single click of a button between English and French and in Spanish as many times as I wish every day and will without wasting my time to install and uninstall packages of language or reinstall the windows and all other programs I have installed in my computer again and again.
Well, I hope you could help me with some concrete answers to my questions and good advice about this. IF you do not have available answers to our needs in the "Windows 7 Ultimate" then we should just waith for the next Windows coming after 7 Ultimate WITH the HOPE that you will take care of the major needs in the Windows thereafter, that follows after Windows 7 Ultimate.  Thank you for your time and I'LL WAIT for a RESPONSE FROM YOU.

    Hello danobadiah,

Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.

I merged your nine positions in your last message as they treat everyone the same questions. You had your questions answered several different people in order to help answer your question. The answer to your question, "Windows 7" has a button by which we could change with a single click, the display of the windows in the computer language is 'no '. There's not a single button to make such a change in the display language in the way you described. Persons responding gave you the common way to the Windows 7 operating system works by changing from English to another language. We are not the developers in this forum and do not know if your desire to have a one button click on any major foreign language switch from English is a possibility.

This is not the right forum to ask your question on a design change. If you want to offer developers a way to change the Windows 7 operating system, and then publish the Web site so that you can give your comments in future versions of the operating system.

    Hello

Satellite L30 unknown to me, but as far as I know, on all models of Toshiba laptops you can change the brightness of the display by using the FN + F6 or F7 key combination.

Satellite L30-13 does not exist, please check the description and please give us an exact description (PSLxxx). On this path, it will be easier to identify the model of laptop.

  • Portege 3480: How to change the brightness of the display

I recently acquired a portege 3480 with xp installed.
I've searched high and low and cannot find a method
to change the brightness of the display. Anyone anyone? Büeler?

    Hello

already tried the fn key combination? I don't know how it is with your portege, but it should be like FN - F6 and FN + F7 to change the brightness of the display.
Unfortunately, there are no XP drivers (or just the audio driver) for the machine to change it manually.
You should try the FN key combination, there should be a sign that looks like a little 'Sun' with an arrow up/down in front.

    Welcome them

  • How to change the brightness of the display on Satellite has?

I can't find a way to vary the light intensity of the display. I know this is sacrilege, but his seems a lot easier to read the doc word and pdf of the former TFT screens. No features that I can find in the display settings.

    Am I missing something obvious?

    Hello
Light intensity may vary normally by using the Fn + 6 and Fn + 7 keys to reduce and increase the brightness of the display respectively.

    Kind regards

I have the same problem as other people... .laptop screen is waaaaay to high heat... how it change?  Looks like all the answers were for Windows 10.  Not useful.

A way to change it in Windows 7 on a laptop is to open the "Windows Mobility Center" tool, which has a brightness slider control.

Hold down the Windows logo key and type an X to open it quickly.

Reference: what is Windows Mobility Center?

    Hello

Maybe this problem s inverter a FL?  :|

But before you contact the ASP in your country for the control of the screen and laptop, you must first access the BIOS and it should define the default settings. Then save the changes.

    Good luck
