  You have an original spare part of Toshiba (display) or is it a 3rd party screen? It is important to use the Toshiba spare parts only because they are tested and designed for your Toshiba laptop. If you use 3rd party parts, they may not work.

  The version of the BIOS has nothing to with the brightness of the display and the brightness of the display can be changed with the key FN + F6/F7 combination, but not in the BIOS.

  Not the F2 and F3 keys is not a function in the BIOS. The screen cannot be cleared up or dimmed inside the BIOS.

  For the issue of screen resolution, the resolution provided for within Windows should also be the resolution on login/Welcome screen. Try to reset your resolution in Windows (without an attached external monitor), and then restart it a few times to see if the resolution sticks throughout the boot process.   To develop which says Halima, if the driver update does not work, you can check with ASUS to make sure this isn't a hardware problem. There might be a problem with LCD backlighting, or maybe a bug in the BIOS. ASUS may have specific information for you and chances are that if other users have encountered problems with this series, ASUS will be able to provide you with instructions on how to solve the problem.

  To me, it seems that you tried to install applications that are not compatible with this laptop.
  Where did you get the drivers?

  I didn t find this value-added package on Toshiba Europe site.

  There are only 3 files for Vista. One of the files is BIOS v1.60 - WIN, which seems to be independent of the operating system.

  You should know that the update of the BIOS is always risky.
  If you use the wrong version of BIOS or bad BIOS update procedure can damage the motherboard!

  I have a Toshiba Satellite 5205, I updated the BIOS to 1.5 (I think it was.)

  And the laptop locked up it seemed all in the bios flashing. The reason why I say shut up

  I have an old Satellite 4300 Pro that I've updated for my daughter last summer.
  I spent some time just right, put the upgrade of memory maximum and the installation of Windows 2000.

  Pleae note that use of the combination of keys for brightness settings work, just at the moment where OS is started and if some Toshiba designed tools are pre-installed. If this happens when starting laptop too and the BIOS settings are not visible properly I assume the inverter FL (backlight) is defective and must be replaced.
