Broke a piece off mac pro

Hi all

I broke a piece out of my logic on Mac Pro 2013 Board (I circled it in pink in the picture below). Could someone please tell me what it is and if I should worry about replacing? So far the device still works. Much appreciate it.

Is everything written on the piece itself, or about the location on the map where its been soldered?

I'm tired of dealing with this old-tech, unreliable, expensive, overrated,... flat of the weight of the aluminum foil, so please find me a real solution/fix! I could easily put together a very decent PC that 'JUST WORKS' from what ive already spent trying to fix it.

whenever he stops, I hear a click from the PSU (similar to the clicking sound when you press the power button on the front, commissioning). Trying next turn to the after he died, sometimes the power button will not turn on right away. I had to wait at least 10-15 sec to make it work. When it works sometimes stop with click 2 to 5 seconds after pressing the power button. He sometimes dies right after the chime. It starts also through without any problem.

A few times when sometimes I watch the LED at the front of the Board (opposite the PCI fan) when he died, I see the two top LEDS blink once I hear that click, those who are highlighted red in the picture (not a picture of my Mac real). It also sometimes flashes when I press the button boot but used to power upward after that he died. Please, what that means?

  • Mac Pro randomly turns off by itself

I've had this problem for almost a year now with my mac pro, mid 2013 A1289 and could not find a solution to this day. It randomly and spontaneously turns itself off. The boss is very random. I can turn it back on after a few seconds, but he always die on me shortly after. My warranty period is now over and it does not apply to service nearby (I must send it through flight to the nearest service).

A few months back I asked my warranty and send it to apple. They said that they replaced the logic board. Many worked for a few weeks but the problem came back (at this time, that my warranty is over). not even the support of apple on the phone is unable to give me a solution. So, I did a lot of research and try to fix it myself with the help of Heads of the local computer. I suspected a overheating, but the problem came even when I turn it on for the first time in 2 days. I got a 2kva voltage stabilizer and APC back ups pro 1000, did not help. I got all my RAMS controlled, are all 100% working. I removed a few RAMS and switched around to see if there is problem with the slot machines, has not worked. I bought an SSD, deleted all my old HDD, installed a new OS, still the same problem. The only thing that I have not checked and now my only suspect because of the problem is the power supply.

Sorry for making it very long but I wanted to be as detailed as possible. I lost a lot of time, thought and money. And it's hard not to feel deflated. Please, if there is someone out there who can find a solution, it would mean a lot.

  • UPS: turn off at Mac Pro every night

I just bought a new power supply (UPS) uninterrupted and it comes with the option to transform the every night to save energy (after I stop the desk top Mac Pro).

I searched the internet and Apple support communities and apparently there is no big advantage or disadvantage to stop the Mac Pro every night.  It does not harm the desk top, it allows to save some energy, and it makes it safe from hackers while I'm asleep.

I can't find anything that tells me if there is a problem with completely set turned off power every night well.  Anyone know of any reason not to use "SHUT DOWN" and then turn off the UPS?  I guess the only difference it makes to the desk top Mac Pro is that it uses a battery to keep the current date and time.

An overview of everything that will keep my Mac Pro (mid 2010) humming is greatly appreciated.

It uses the battery to keep the current date and time.

... and to remember some system settings that must be available at the beginning of the start-up procedure, such as "where is the boot drive.

If your Mac does not start, the battery is a Lithium long term non-powered cells of room behind the graphics card slot. It should measure about 3 Volts in your hand to be useful. • 2009 mac Pro turns off graphics load.

    Hi all

My Mac Pro is a 2009 with updated firmware version to support 6-core processors clocked at 2.66 ghz. I have improved graphics, Sapphire HD 7950 / 3 gb (UEFI flashed).

    • While I use the computer for graphics intense situations (IE 3d rendering, games), the computer turns off. In order to get back to the computer, the power cord must be disconnected from the PSU. The computer then turns back on without any problem.

Please ask for more information, you may know.

Your symptom has been reported by users who have cheated on the power cords to the. Labour intensive overdraws the power available to the map, and overlap the food makes the unstable power and stops at the Mac.

  • MAC PRO MULTI SCREEN OFF ROAD...

Bus (20 gHz bandwidth) is a MacPro Thunderbold2 (end 2013) combined with AMD over-pants 300, allow the connection of 2 screens UWQHD at 60 Hz?

    (A) knowing a MacPro announced limitation:

Use multiple screens with your Mac Pro (end 2013) - Apple Support

    (B) successful personally tested the following configuration:

"Connection to a 34" UWQHD (3440 * 1440) display as a secondary screen on Imac27 ' Thunderbold (mid2011) port using a mini Display Port to Display Port cable.

This configuration bridges for the limitation of the AMD Radeon of 512 MB of the Imac27 (mid2011).

However, he has worked to keep a refresh rate of 60 Hz.

    (C) does anyone at - he tried to connect 2 * 34 "UWQHD (3440 * 1440) poster on the Bus Thunderbold 3 1 (ex: TB1 and TB2 ports) using a mini Display Port to Display Port (or native TB cable if TB screen like LG)?

And this configuration works at 60 Hz?

Final goal is to connect 6 UWQHD 34 "screen on a Mac Pro at 60 Hz.

    Thanks for your comments.

I could now test the following configuration:

2 screens on bus 1 to on the Mac Pro:

    Eizo ev2750 1 (2540 * 1440) on the TB0 port using an miniDP/DP cable

    +

1 LG34UC88 (model LG with no port of TB) in 3440 * 1440 on TB1 port using an miniDP/DP cable

Both work at 60 Hz non-interlaced.

I believes that this positive answer my own question here above even if it wasn't 2 * 34 "UWQHD (it is always above the spec announce Apple).

However, I have 3 questions to void it please:

Q1: Anyone know if the AMD over-pants 300 since the Mac Pro supports the technology 'free' for the synchronization of AMD.

AMD sent me to Apple because it seems Apple develop its own driver AMD cards used in Mac.

    (no answer until now...)

Can Q2: Someone please explain what benefit we can get using a screen offering a port TB compared to a screen offering a port DP (the two being connected on a TB on a Mac port)

It seems that we will get no graphical difference, but that the native CT will wake up faster than the RFP and offer chaining (for connecting a USB key or on the screen a light on the Mac).

No confirmation will be welcome, thank you.

Q3: Is it possible to change the TB on a Mac Pro parameter to tell the machine than on a TB specific port (ex: TB1) cable (and thus the signal) is DP.

This would shorten the time to a screen using DP cable on port of TB of awakening. Thanks again.

    Best regards

  • CS5 will still support the MCE Blu - ray on Mac Pro Player?

    It's basically my question:

CS5 will still support the MCE Blu - ray on Mac Pro Player?

It is y harly any info the hardware on the web site of Adobe support more. It's just all hype sales!  They used to tell you which disks have been supported, but now that still seems to just be an afterthought in CS5, there is not ehardware in detail everything that is taken in charge and what is not...

This new MCE Blu - ray player looks like a wonderful solution, but only if Encore CS5 on Mac would support it.

    Thank you!

I am positive that your Mac Pro has the connectors. The SATA cable it can be somewhat difficult if you're not comfortable deleting some parts with a screwdriver, but I found it very easy.

Cables SATA sitting around, I had had a little long boxes on the ends of the connector forcing me to have to remove a small amount of plastic from the piece of fan housing. I think that if you buy a kit from OWC cable they include cables that are lower profile but whatever it is, it's not too bad. I just use a dremel to remove a small piece about 1 "x 1" directly above the ports. "

Here are some instructions I found: http://www.newertech.com/downloads/nwtmpqxe32.pdf (Note: the pages in this guide are all mixed!) These guys here sell a kit that delivers these unused ports of SATA to eSATA ports.

You will see that they have low profile cable I was referring to that and so they didn't need to cut the case fan at all. I would say just OWC (www.macsales.com), because they know what you are looking for and you can sell a kit that has the cables you need, including 4-pin-power to SATA power. I recommend you to install the two cables while you're here, so if you later decide to add another SATA drive or an SSD, you will not need to take off again. BTW, add an OCZ Vertex 2 60 GB SSd drive as my boot drive for the OS and applications has been the single most visible upgrade I did and makes the Mac Pro just smoke! Same value as I just pasted the small SSD up there in the optical Bay without a mounting kit, and it works great!

In all honesty, theough, the external enclosure for Blu - Ray works well and is easier to access the drive, because it is now located on my desktop. If you're uncomfortable to disassemble your machine just get quadruple housing interface with the chip set Oxford 934DSB that I can guarantee you that it works out of the box. It cost $140 for the whole machine, not bad compared to the alternatives.

The reader is this: LG WH10LS30. Looks like it's still on sale for Newegg $79 until the end of the year.

Housing I have is the following: BYTECC ME535-Limited-BK. Another $60. The OWC, looks a lot prettier in a Mac environment but costs $40 more for the same features all in brushed aluminium.

I've been creating and burning with yet but Roxio Toast 10 Titanium burns and the authors of the Blu - Ray just wanted to make a CD/DVD

    Good luck!

  • Receiver WiFi for Mac Pro (early 2008)

The Mac Pro, I had originally was without a wifi receiver out of the box. My office is now off by an Ethernet connection. I tried the USB Datalink receivers and they... I won't go into that. I got lucky with the Netgear Powerline product until recently, but that was a fight lately. Is there a market after product I can get, or similar to what Apple Mac Pro to receive WIFI?

    Thanks in advance,

  • Installation 10.11.6 El Capitan with 10.6.8 Snow Leopard on old Mac Pro 4.2 multiboot?

Looking for savvy here advice...  I have an old Mac Pro 4.2 (cheese grater) that runs Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  It is a wonderful workhorse machine, who served me tirelessly for many years.  It is obviously older and slower, but works very well.  I love 10.6.8.  If Apple ever updated the Mac Pro line (I know, probably not... sigh...), I'll buy one and replace this machine.  Until then, I keep doing this work.

This machine is a beast, has been upgraded with internal hard drives 1 TB three (he also got a couple internal HDs inherited from 750 and 500 MB used for storage).  I have also several external 1-4 to, hip, FW800 drives too.  A host of storage, of course, and should be a lot of options to start on several systems.

I am generally satisfied with 10.6.8 on this machine, although there are obvious limits to that.  I would get one or two operating systems newer on it, pick-and-choose between them according to the needs, but I absolutely want to/need to preserve the ability to initiate and run 10.6.8 systematically as my operating system on the day the day, at least for now.  Maybe I'll warm to one of the others on this machine eventually, but 10.6.8 must remain usable, install a newer OS on other readers may not nerve there.

On a year-and-a-half ago, I took a race to install 10.10.3 Yosemite on one of the internal disks.  This doesn't quite work.  I moved, sniffed Yosemite everywhere, don't really like it a lot and went to restart and him switch back to 10.6.8 for a bit.  Initially, it was impossible (from less than I expected, would be the same old process, I have always used, via system preferences > startup disk).  You can read the details of this experience here and more here if you are interested.  This latest attempt to get Yosemite on this machine was a very negative experience.  Yosemite is still there on an internal HD, but I tried not to boot on it since then.

Now I take another look at this.  What is the engine now, is that I want to update my iPad Mini 3 iOS 10.  But that (update of an iDevice iOS 10) requires iTunes 12.5.1.  And iTunes 12.5.1 requires Mac OS X 10.9.5 or newer - it won't work with 10.6.8.  I'm looking for my options.

Right now, I have three large internal HDs: HD #1, 2 # HD and HD #3, each 1 TB.

HD #1 has 10.10.3 Yosemite on this.  I started from this time and have not resumed since.

HD #2 has 10.6.8 Snow Leopard top.  This is my main operating system and startup of daily drive.

HD #3 is nothing special about it.

Although HD #1's Yosemite about that, I have only started from this disc once and hesitate to go back, at least until I can get a way easy and reliable to restart off HD #2.

I understand that I can also get 10.11.6 El Capitan.  I thought that installing on HD #3.  That sounds like a reasonable to add option, but again, I want to make sure it won't cause problems to switch back to start off HD #2 in Snow Leopard (such as installation of Yosemite on HD #1).

What is the best way for me to go about safely - preserve the option to start easily in 10.6.8 on HD #2?

    Thanks for the help!

If you start or restart now Option (Alt) key and calls the Startup Manager, you should be given the choice at the start of any boot disk OS X on any of the readers.
