Broken wireless card

Hi all

Since the departure of the thermal paste on my laptop HP Pavilion DV3000 (3 years and which is still ongoing), the wireless card has stopped working. It is not a traditional question, and I have been unable to A) repair or B) find discussions help with my specific problem.

The card is an Intel Wifi Link 5100 AGN (standard on the model of laptop), which has been deleted during the change of the dough.

Since the restart, he stops to converse with the laptop, although it appears in Device Manager, Control Panel, etc...

All this said it is fully functional and the drivers are up to date (confirmed by ethernet with Intel). When run it windows diagnostics it is said immediately that the unit is off, and this is true; the wireless light on the touch panel above the keyboard is orange, which means that it is indeed off. However, it will not turn on, and I can't do it through Control Panel or the Windows Mobility Center, when the button is grayed.

I tried everything, including the laptop tear down again and inspecting each connection and the antenna cable, there is no dust, no damage and no scratches. It is possible that I have it fried with static, but unlikely since I'm rested during disassembly.

If anyone can offer advice or thoughts before I have pay (admittedly minor) for a new wireless card, it would be very appreciated

See you soon,.

George

Have you tried to reinstall the wireless driver for this card? The wireless driver usually includes additional software that plays a role in the activation and the deactivation of the wireless card.

It may just be a "jolt" to put everything back in order.

Dv3000 do not seem to load the page of appropriate support from HP for me. Could you give the number of the product?
NOTE: Do not provide the serial number.

You mentioned the control panel, and windows Mobility Center. What is the unit has HP Wireless Assistant? If so, you can try to use this program to try to turn it on. Most of the units have HP Wireless Assistant.

  • PC with wireless card will not connect to the login of the user (Windows 7 RC)

My PC uses a Rosewill (RNX-G300EX) wireless card with the software and drivers of Railink.

With Windows XP (Pro) PC would connect to my home network and the internet on startup without user logon.  It is important to me because the data that I want to use on the network on this PC, and I don't necessarily want to have a user logged on to do.  I also have immediate internet access to connect remotely with TeamViewer, which worked perfectly with Windows XP.

Since my switch to Windows 7 RC, I don't get the immediate connection through the wireless card.  It does not connect to the local network or the internet until a user logs on.

    Articles I checked:
Driver - Microsoft actually already provided an updated driver that were obtained through Windows Update.  The driver for the wireless card should not be a problem.
Power settings - I checked in advance for the power settings in Windows 7 and made sure that the wireless card has been set 'Maximum Performance '.
Properties of the device - I have checked the device properties for the wireless card and made sure they were NOT defined to allow the OS to turn it off to save energy.

I missed some type of parameter which is a novelty for Win7?  My computer with a wired network connection works fine with Win7 and is accessible at startup without user logon.

First of all, thank you for the Mark test.  But the problem was not to have the connection when a browser is opened.  To open a browser, a user needed to be connected... with a logged-in user, the wireless adapter worked fine.

Now, to answer my own question for someone else who might read this.

I sent this message to Rosewill.  They advise that Ralink (spelled correctly this time) had not yet developed a good driver for Windows 7.  Windows Update apparently used a Vista driver and Windows 7 is apparently a bit different... or just Ralink is not cut with Vista either.

So, I tried a Netgear USB wireless adapter.  BINGO!  The computer automatically start this device.  There is now a network connection to start.  TeamViewer now shows the computer as being online without that person may be connected.

    ANSWER: hardware
RALink is a failure by juggling the time.  If you are looking to buy an adapter wireless network with a Ralink chipset, don't.  The link that Rosewill support sent me for the Ralink drivers was broken.  The Ralink site shows it as having certificate problems and IE8 does not recommend open it.  They are apparently dropping the ball.

I'll buy a new wireless network adapter.

For over year I now, I had been using a USB wireless network (I'm not sure it's official name) fine to connect my desktop computer to the wireless, but when that broken I decided to use a wireless card instead. When I now run the possibility of troubleshooting problems, it tells me I have a "problem with the wireless adapter or access point" which has not been set. • Need help finding the right wireless card

    Hello

I'm trying to find out what wireless network card should I buy for my laptop computer backup HP Pavilion dv4000 (dv4253EA) can someone help with this?

    Hello:

Your model came with the wireless network card.

Is there a place to install a wireless card?

Are there already the antennas in the compartment?

If this isn't the case, you will need to purchase an external wireless adapter.

Please see the service manual in Chapter 5 for the location where the wireless card is going.

    http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c00553278.PDF

There is also a list of the supported WLAN cards with HP numbers.

None of them are available for sale to HP, then your best bet is to buy used on eBay.

Questioned by the HP part only number.

Only one of the listed cards will work and they also have the HP piece on them or they will not work.

  • Satellite Pro L450D-12 X - Wireless card in the process of disappearance

    Hi guys,.

So, I have a laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro (L450D-12 X) in my possession.

She has 8 installed inside windows (but came pre-installed with windows 7).

The problem I face is that, suddenly, the wireless still endangered, literally as no wireless card exists - but there is a wireless card.

I was able to fix it by reinstalling windows 8 OS. It worked only for a little while and then it disconnects / disappears. No wireless in the "map settings" icon Only the "ethernet" adapter
Cannot search or browse for wireless network either.

Since the fix above was not permanent, started the service that controls the card wireless among others who are associated with what this either wireless (don't remember the name) - it worked again.

Now it has stopped. Well, I'm not with the laptop at the time, I said there and all attempts to restart the service via the phone, does not provide any solution.

    Any ideas guys?

    All responses appreciated.

Problem is that your laptop model is NOT supported for Win8.
What WLAN driver have you installed?
    Where did you find?

When you are faced with this problem wireless network card is listed in the Device Manager?

  • HP Pavilion 15z-aw000 CTO: Replace wireless card

Can I replace the wireless card Realtec RTL8723BE in this notebook with capable of 5G wireless?

    Hi there @vht1951,

I understand that you are looking for more information on the issue of whether a module compatible to add the functionality of dual band for your laptop is available.

Looking at the: HP Pavilion Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service of Guide from the support page for your model, page 3 (13 of 94 in the pdf file), it enumerates wireless adapters, which is: Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1 x 1 WiFi + BT Combo Adapter 4.2.

If you find your model on the HP parts store, the part is listed as: '806723-005 Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3165 802.11 ac 1 x 1 WiFi and Bluetooth 4.2 combination WLAN fit' and is currently listed as for the remainder.

You can check the site later to see the availability or the other site HP Partsurfer, to see if you there is a seller who might already own part.

I hope that helps and if it does not solve your problem, please mark this message as a solution. Bravo would be appreciated as well.

    Hello

As far as I know that the wireless card is optional on this unit. This means you have the opportunity to upgrade the unit with the wireless Mini-PCI card. At the bottom of the unit, you will find a machine slot for this card.

Please visit this site to check what wireless card is compatible with your device:
