  1. create a bean with a scope of application with any appropriate instance name: myBean_Request.
  2. create a property of the bean with any appropriate name. For example:

  private String textValue;
  

  3 generate the getters and setters in the bean for the text argument.
  4. set the value attribute of the text box to something like this.

  value="#{myBean_Request.textValue}"
  

  5. can insert setPropertyListener for the CommandButton as follows

  6. in the next page set the value of the text output to the

  value="#{pageFlowScope.textValue}"

  I'm creating a page (index page and action) where the index page has a group of option buttons (4 of them). If one of the four radio button is selected then a text (article about 30 lines) is displayed in the action after a submitt button page or the next button. is this possible?

  This is the example so if one radio button (a combination of radio button, it appears in a page)
  What will be displayed for each combination there is a paragraph.

• Hand cursor on the 'Next' button and text caption error reversal

  I have a template that I have to respect. It has buttons back and forward with a stationary state.

  I need an on-screen text entry field to simulate the text before the user in a form field.

  If you click on the next button and the field is empty or incomplete, I want an error message to the pop-up window. If the text box is filled correctly the next button moves to the next slide.

  Unfortunately, I need BOTH the hover state and hand the cursor on the next button.

  
  

  Ive tried a few scenarios and here is an example of one:

  -Add a text entry and remove text entry button

  -Add the text caption called errorMessage

  -create the variable called nextButtonIncrement
  

  -create a conditional action called checkTextCaption to run at the entrance to the screen

  -button next increment of 1 when you click

  -action checks to see if the button is a literal 1 or more, and if a legend of appropriate literal text (i.e. text).

  -If true, go to the next slide

  -If false to see the error message

  
  

  The problem with the above is that the error message appears when you enter the slide. I just want that it is displayed when the user clicks Next AND the legend of text entry doesn't have a MESSAGE in it. Im trying an AND OR a conditional action, but I am, I was wondering if anyone knows if I'm wasting my time or not.

  Looks like you're on the right track, but you have debugging in the details.

  Your back and next buttons must be advanced a conditional Action running that first checks the current value of the variable associated with ETB to check that it is not empty before performing their assigned back or other action.

  Each TEB inserted into a default Captivate project will also be a user created variable that has the same name as the name of the ETB (let's say for now it is called var_TEB).  As soon as you start typing the text in the TEB, the associated variable is assigned to have the same value (combination of keys for typing).

  Now if you want conditional action to ensure that the BER has a value before you move to the next or previous slide, then you must also create a user variable and NOT add a default value.  You will use this empty variable (we'll call it var_NULL) in your condition of conditional action.

  If your condition will be errorMessage SHOW something ELSE looks like IF var_TEB is not equal to var_NULL then go to the next slide (or previous page depending on whether it is the button Next or Back you use).  (Make sure you have the errorMessage value variable is NOT visible in the output, otherwise it will be visible as soon as your timeline starts.)

  If the condition is to ensure that the variable associated with ETB is not empty before running the jump to slip, it will SHOW you the legend of hidden error message.

• Text captions are not displayed on the calendar settings after publication.

  I use Adobe Captivate 4. I have provided at different start times in editing for 4 text captions settings. When I saw my slide, it shows well. But when I publish and try to see, it's only dsiplaying that the first legend text and other text captions are not displayed.

  Request for help in this regard.

  so, the question I ask is you have a button or box click on the slide? (I'm guessing that you do)

  Buttons and click areas normally pause the slide. My guess is that you have one that is pausing the slide before the other legends were lucky to appear.

• How can I make the text box caption to display a text variable that is longer than the length?

  Hi all, I would like to do this: make a text caption to display a variable that contains a paragraph of text that the user has typed as soon as possible.

  I created the maximum length of the variable only 1000 and I am able to partially displayed variable in the text caption - only at the end of the first line of caption text.

  ICan someone tell me how to configure the text caption so that it can encapsulate texts? I can't find it in the properties panel.

  No need to shout, even if I'm not native English, I understood your question very well, and this can be done with the enhanced TextArea widget as I mentioned. Here is a screenshot:

  

  Workflow:

  • Create a user variable, I scored it
  • Insert twice the widget with variable TextArea (Jim Leichliter, CaptivatePro), on the screen, these are the two rectangles on the bottom red and blue
  • Configure the first Widget to be associated with v_text and show this variable by inserting a default $$ v_text$ $
  • Configure the second Widget to display this variable by inserting returns a default $$ v_text$ $
  • You will need a button to refresh, so that the text appears in the second widget. Here I used the button, and then assigned to the action "Jump to slide" with the same number of slide so that the playback head rewound to the beginning of the slide
    
  • The text in the second widget shows; as you can see, it can be formatted as you wish.

  If you want to display the text in another slide, no need to make the action update, it automatically displays when you get to this slide.

  It is not a text caption that is displayed, but the widget. Is this a problem?

  Tried it, seems to work:

  • create a v_start user variable that will store the number of the first image
  • create an advanced action Start, which will be triggered upon entering the slide, with two instructions:
    • Affect of v_start with rdinfoCurrentFrame
    • Continue
      
  • create captions 5 text and make them invisible, I scored the TC_One, TC_Two, TC_Three, TC_Four, TC_Five; they must start over from the beginning of the slide and timed for 5secs
    
  • create 5 buttons, each of them will trigger a tip action
  • to create advanced actions one, two... Five to be triggered by buttons, with these statements (here One action example):
    • See the TC_One
    • Hide TC_Two
    • Hide TC_Three
    • Hide TC_Four
    • Hide TC_Five
    • Affect of rdcmndGotoFrame with v_start This will send the playback head to the first image, and the text caption will show 5 seconds
    • Continue

  I'm very new to Captivate (only my second week), but am familiar in other Adobe programs. I'm trying to get a dynamic object that I made in a button to trigger an effect on a text caption. I scrolled the forums here and tried various things of the advanced actions for just using the drop down menus in the property inspector and nothing that I tried gives me the result I want.

  Here is a screenshot of what I'm working with.

  

  What I want to do is for the arrows for the buttons (and they are currently). When the slide appears first I don't want that image and the arrows visible. So when the user clicks on the arrow, I want the effect I chose (spiral) that will be triggered with the corresponding text.

  Looks like my property for each caption Inspector (the names are different for each)

  

  And I also tried to write a few advanced Actions that follow as well as tutorials that I found online, and nothing gives me what I want.

  When I preview the slide I can see everything on entry and then when I click the button to apply the effect. I rechecked the advanced actions and usually when I try these nothing happens at all.

  Is - it there anyway that I can get that works this way, I'm wanting. It seems that it should be simple and I'm right on it.

  The shape of buttons are all pause at this moment, it's OK.

  I just tried it out and see what you mean. The text is there from the beginning, and that shouldn't be the case. you expect it not to appear when the button is clicked. I have never used this spiral effect myself, but since you have no control over it, I mean you can't see where starts the effect at all, there is no visible path you have with the other effects of the entry. Either, you need to create a custom, effect whose path begins with text outside the scene, or a combination of an Alpha to + a standard entrance effect.

  Tried the first one with a simple left to a straight path. I edited the paths so that they all start at the same position horizontal and end at the same horizontal position. So happy with the leaders and Guides that we finally got in Captivate, they are very useful for this type of design:

  Here is my scenario, I am the designer of consumate and learning coding by leaps and bounds, today its been a lot of stumbling blocks however.
  
  I have a site I designed that contains buttons that navigate the user at various points on the timeline using image tags. When they arrive at the appropriate image tag, they are presented with a movieclip containing two layers. The bottom layer is a card, and the top layer is a collection of buttons printer having a component tooltip on them showing you the information on detailed mouse printer on and takes you to the Remote UI printer on release. each button has a name of unique queue for the printer appropriate under its name of the instance (e.g. itm100_btn). Here's the jist... I want to be able to place a dynamic text box near the printer and using action script button it display printer queue name automatically simply based on the button, targeting, or even place the dynamic txt area inside the printer button mc. See, on some pages, there are like 24 printers... I'm AFRAID to have to put all these names in manually because there are total 150 printers! OUCH...

  to create a movieclip button:

  create a (insert/new symbol/movieclip) movieclip and attach a stop() to its first image and etiquette 'up '.  create any graphic you want for the up state button movieclip.  create a 'more' and, if necessary, a "low" setting

  When you place this button movieclip on stage give an instance name (for example, printer1) and use:

  {Printer1.onRollOver = Function ()}

  this.gotoAndStop ("over");

  }

  {Printer1.onRollOut = Printer1.onDragOut = Function ()}

  this.gotoAndStop ("up");

  }

  {Printer1.onPress = Function ()}

  this.gotoAndStop ("down");

  }

  and add your onRelease to do all that.

  If you also wanted to add a textfield that displays the instance name of the button when the button is postponed, place a textfield on the framework of the "over" and give it a name instance (say tf) and associated to the MovieClip "over" frame that uses:

  Possible with advanced actions, have several examples on my blog.

  This will be the workflow:

  1. Create a variable user v_counter, if the user cannot return to the slide, not need to initialize it when entering the slide, because if there is no initial value starts at 0
  2. Create the text of the legend TCWarning and set it to invisible in the properties panel
  3. create a conditional advanced action to be triggered by the success of the click box event; don't know what version of CP you use:
     1. increment the counter - CP5/5.5 in a simulated standard action that will be the first decision "Increment":
        • IF 1 is equal to 1
        • THEN Expression v_counter = v_counter + 1
     2. Check the value of the counter in a second decision 'Show '.
        • IF v_counter is equal to or greater than 3

• (Click two boxes) Text caption of failure that appears when the user double-clicks

  I have two boxes a slide is clicked > the first click box is a simple click and the failure text caption is enabled > the second click box is a double click action, and the legend of the failure is not enabled.

  When a user double-clicks on the second, click on the box that the legend of the failure is displayed from the first caption text.  I'm cpatibvate is picking up the second click of the double click and so incorrect display in the first legend.

  Is there a way around this problem?  ISome contribution to this issue would be greatly appreciated:

  

  Clickboxes are set up so that if you have the legends of failure turned on, then a click outside the click box triggers the failure criteria.  So if you have two of them on the same slide, each will be considered a failure if you click on it.

  Buttons work a little differently, then you can try to use the transparent buttons instead.

  Another alternative is to use the widget event handler, which allows to implement various widgets to listen to different mouse events.  The beauty of these widgets is that you have much more control over the criteria of rupture because you can specify events of different mouse for the success and failure on each of them.

• Delayed text captions appear does not (except in Preview "Play this slide")

  Can someone explain why my delayed text captions appear not in any fashion, BUT preview/Play this slide. When I do this type of preview, text captions appear exactly when I put (from 27 s - and are set to display for the 'rest of slide').

  There are eight legends delayed and none of them are as I saw the draft, this slide, or publish.

  The visible indicator is activated, time is 'rest of slide' appear after 27 s, the effect is not relevant and is not a matter of layers.

The duration (the caption text dialog box > Options tab > calendar > display for :) changed even though I didn't change it.) Someone had this problem?   Glad you stuck with this issue cuz I pulled a real boner trying to fix. I was totally distraught on the main menu of * two * UNDO and REDO. If you remember that I tried to install the menu shortcut for UNDO them and REDO and totally rejected the idea that they might be under Edit on the crazy Main Menu which of course, they have been and worked like a charm. THANKS again man, you are a true hero!
