By default for connections (SYS, SYSTEM, DBSNMP, SYSMAN) unavailable when SQLOpens

I installed the 32-bit version of Oracle 11 g 2 on my Windows 7 x 64 system because the x 64 version would not install. I downloaded the 32-bit version of SQL Developer with JRE, but when I run the SQL Developer, default (SYS, SYSTEM, DBSNMP and SYSMAN) connections are not available.

I entered the tnsnames directory on the database: screen Preferences, advanced and restarted my PC, but there is clearly something escapes me.

Suggestions?

Thank you.

Hi Paul,.

Once I connect to the network adapter, the default ID will appear?

Using SQL Developer says (and I believe that this procedure works even if you cannot 'connect' to the local database):

To create (automatically generate) a database connection for each unlocked user account in the Oracle database instance
on the local system, right-click the Connections node and select Create Local Connections. The connections are placed in
a folder named Auto-Generated Local Connections. Note that for these autogenerated connections (except for the one
named system-), you will always be prompted for the password when you connect, and you cannot edit
the user name or password in the connection properties dialog box.

Then, if that what you ask in fact and you have a local database installed, then you must make sure that your database is running. Open a command line and try these commands:

lsnrctl status

If it is not already started, start it with

lsnrctl start

or not your administrator tools-> Services-> Oracle ListenerWindows (right click: Start)

Hope this helps,
Gary

Method 2: If the issue does not exist in Mode safe mode then try to put your computer in a clean boot state.

  • Oracle SYS/SYSTEM sharing of passwords

Unfortunately, we have an obligation to not have passwords for sys/system shared even among the DBA staff. Someone said an Oracle article which details not sharing passwords. The problem is that security sees this issue as a threat. I supported until I'm blue in the face that these two accounts are required by the dba team. Does anyone have any information on this slot holds pass along? Things that worked and even those who do not? The real problem comes into play when you start looking on behalf of oracle cron jobs which have seen most of the privileged passwords.

    Thank you!

    Regarding cron jobs.
    Here's what we do...
    1. create a permanent account to make these kinds of tasks, something like "dbsdba" on the server.
    2. in the database create an external analog account identified, ops$ dbsdba.
    3. grant the account of dbsdba ops$ the privileges necessary to accomplish its tasks.
4 use dbsdba cron to schedule to the various substantive tasks. Because it is an external account identified, it can connect to.

  • Something on my system starts automatically download when I connect my system to the internet.

    Download never stops

When I make a wireless connection (or even a dial-up access) to the Internet, the download starts.  I didn't ask this, and waited to see if it stops.  It never seems to.  Even after 500 MB has been transmitted. I tried selective startup with all this that deleted except what is necessary to recognize the wireless device.  That does not fix the problem.

I turned on the firewall and Norton Antivirus.

Is it possible to trace communications to tell where it comes from?  Or any other suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks again - this time to Jack.

I agree that I'm probably lacks enough understanding to solve this problem in a forum like this.

PRTG Network Monitor myself to work, but can't find anything in which seems to follow the link which causes the continuous download.  Very probably, I didn't know how to use it properly - it came with a pretty important manual which I didn't read entirely, and what I've read, I found to be of a technical level that is beyond me.  It seemed to be a good piece of software and I enjoyed a chance to make a free download...

I looked your site ezlan and this was helpful.  I did start > run > msconfig and experimented with turning off of a variety of elements of start-up and also on the Services tab most of the non-Microsoft services.  Now I disabled all startup items, and on the Services tab I have disabled all non Microsoft services except Norton anti-virus and NovaCore SDK (which is needed to establish the connection of Virgin Mobile).  I left all on Microsoft services.  Needless to say that this configuration did not stop the download.

But here's a brilliant note: I stopped the download by 1) conclusion on TCPview the process ID (PID) that has been accumulating the ongoing increase received bytes, 2) with this PID, I went to Process Explorer and double clicked on the process that had this PID.  Then, on the Services tab, I read on each of the 25 - odd services that were running and a guess and stopped the BITS service.  Presto! Download stopped.   This service seems to take care of the updates for the operating system and other things, and I guess that's a rather crude way to fix things.   I see that in the start screen, I can uncheck the BITS service, and maybe I should do this to keep it from start to start.

So you can see that I have a fix of some kind, although I know I need to occasionally cancel for the Microsoft updates.  I will continue to operate in selective startup mode and you uncheck the BITS service in the section of the Service of the start window.

At the risk of taking more time, I ask a few questions (hopefully) final:

Offer a clue as to what kind of problem I have my 'fix'?

How much harm I do by removing the BITS service?

    Thank you very much.

There are several options depending on your operating system.

For XP/Vista: You can use Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and run Windows XP x 32 inside your x 64 system.
