• Windows Live Mail does not present as an option for default programs or in the Start Menu.

  Something happened this week. I can't identify enough exactly when so I can't say with certainty whether or not it is the new update of 2011.

  I use Windows Live Mail (desktop application) for the mail. It is installed and since I built the machine first. I've recently updated for 2011 through Windows Update. In the Start Menu, the default e-mail link no longer works. If I go to customize, I have the options of Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail, and Outlook. If I select Windows Live Mail, it launches a web browser to go to live.com and use Hotmail (which I don't use).

  Now, if I choose Windows Mail, and then re - open Windows Live Mail manually, I can set it by default. In this case, when I go back into the Start Menu, the link is there but empty and you get a message that "the selected item is not available. It might have been moved, renamed, or deleted. You want to remove from the list? "I can't get around that. Under "Default programs" in the Control Panel, Windows Live Mail is not yet there. It's as if she is not yet installed, and whatever the shortcut points to (wherever it may be) is apparently nothing. In the registry, under HKLM/Software/customers/Mail, there is no key for 'DLLPath' and "LocalizedString" as there are other programs.

  I must point out that repair installation does not help and neither does file and reinstalling.

• Windows Live Mail will not default on my default e-mail account

  I have several accounts email for different purposes.  Recently, I've upgraded to Windows 7 and Windows Live Mail.  I entered my 5 accounts, which work well for the entry.  But when I write a new message, Windows Live refuses to choose the account which I have appointed as 'default'.  The result is that a lot of my emails bounce because the receiver does not recognize me.  HOW can I tell Windows Live to use the account that I have referred to as 'default' as my default account?

  To specify Windows Live Mail as the default mail client, select it in the section Custom define the default settings for the access and the computer program in default programs. Then Windows will know which program to launch when he needs an e-mail client.

  When you set your default programs you tell Windows what program to use to open a particular file type or use a particular protocol. When you have selected Windows Live Mail, selected Windows such as the program to use for the four items that you selected. Otherwise, Windows do not know what to do with these types of files and protocols.

This isn't a particularly good idea, unless you have a specific reason to do so.

  Since your initial problem was not being able to send a message using a mailto: link on a web page, I absolutely do not see why you want to change the default settings that are currently associated with Windows Live Mail. Please explain.

  WLMail open

  Left-click to select your account

  then on the drop down menu - options - mail

  Compose tab

  Fonts seem to be listed there.

  Click font settings, to adapt to your needs,

  and see if this holds for emails send/dial

  If it works and is OK, it's similar on the tab [read] - fonts for reading emails.
