I get this message when I try to play a file:
Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The player might not support the file type or does not support the codec used to compress the file.
How do I fix this?
Kind thanks.

error message C00D1199 while using Windows Media Player
I'm having a problem getting a video playback with video, that I took with my camera. I never used to have a problem and everything would be reading. Suddenly, no video would not play back and I only got an error message saying that the codec used to compress the file is not supported by Windows. I converted all the files and thought of AVI format that would help, but no luck. I tried to run the Microsoft Fix It and only made his return to some but not all the files. Others still play the error. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Marz_Y,

Windows Media Player will not play files .avi or .mpg - Error Message: C00D1199
Windows Media Player won't play .avi or .mpg files; files which I know to be readable by Windows Media Player. In addition, this program has played these accurate files in the month of August. The files are readable on other programs. I searched other forums, but it is impossible to find an answer to this problem, except the recommendation of a codec - although I don't know how I have "lost" the codec in the past two months. Today, spontaneously and erratically, Windows Media Player recognizes the .mpg files, but not the .avi. Microsoft Security Essentials have installed and up to date, if it is not a virus. Have problems in other programs with the recognition of previously readable files. Not sure if it's related, so I'll post in separate... forums but I'll give you a link if you want to. Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Windows Media Center error C00D1199
I used a program called BandiCam save games/windows on my Windows 7 computer. I recently upgraded to a 2 TB HARD drive and transferred all my files to the new disk. None of the Windows files were transferred by my request and now Windows Media Player cannot read the. BandiCam AVI files. I've read that it could be the Codecs of compression used by Bandicam however until I transferred all my files he was running fine records. I tested on my laptop with the same file, and it worked fine as well. Is there a debug/repair for Windows Media Player program? Or could I just re - install completely? It always shows the error code: C00D1199

I'm reading a file mpeg and Windows Media Player C00D1199 error. How to get good download of the missing codec? I have windows 7 x 64 os.
All is not lost.
Download and install a pack of codecs, such as K-Lite (Google for it). You can find THAT WMP can then read the file.OrDownload and install a small program called Gspot (Google it)! Drag and drop in its window one of the files, you can't plzy. It will tell you which codecs are used. You can then download and install the only after doing a search on the web for it.See you soon,.Jerry -

I had a problem with my Acer AO 756 877B2kk (haven't bought November 2012 - 11.6 screen - WWindows7 - no upgrade to date).
I downloaded a file audio-video to Wetransfer, but mediaplayer will read (unable to read the file); the error is COOD1199.
I can't really work on how to read this file. I downloaded VLC but the file does not start nor.
Can someone help me please?
Thank you.

Hmmm. It is a common file extension.
The error code is usually given for lack of errors of the codex. (Primarily encoding types, many different types out there.)
This codex pack should have the one you need and covers all the files you download as well.

Hello- E-mail are what customer you referring?
- Are you facing problems in opening emails?
I recommend you perform the clean boot.
Configuration of your system in a clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. If so, you need to maybe contact the manufacturer of the program for updates or uninstall and reinstall the program.
See the following article in the Microsoft KB for more information on how to solve a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or Windows 7:
