Calibration Hardware UP2716D disables uniformity Compensation

Dear specialists Dell team/monitor / calibration, dear forum members!

I recently bought a Dell UP2716D for photo editing and desktop Publishing. I tried to calibrate it with my xrite i1 pro and DellUltraSharpCalibrationSolution display. Results D65 to D50 are the two WELL WORSE than the calibration of the software with Argyll / DisplayCAL. In my view, the fact that you will lose uniformity Compensation during setting ANYTHING but the brightness, makes just Calibration Hardware nearly useless. Change to any other native whitepoint setting is deprecated the DUSCS menu. Also the whitepoint set for calibration is NOT displayed in Kelvin, so you don't know where you're going. Or can possibly calculate you with precision the white coordinates in your mind to degrees Kelvin?

Is there WAY of ANY manually re - calibrate compensation of uniformity for other white dots or different RGB gain of 100/100/100?

I think that DELL must make clear to customers, this monitor is only using UC / can only be used with a D65 whitepoint.

If I was not at all satisfied with hardware calibration due to loss of pay of uniformity. Idecided to try to make the calibration with Argyll / DisplayCAL because like that I could keep at least compensation of uniformity running.

First of all I must say that the measured white point is DISABLED at least 5 Delta E, all its intensity, of D65 when the 6500 Kelvin predefined parser that is probably not a point of ideal departure for calibration. (measured by i1 display and argyll)

I'm right now using D65, 100 CD and the spectral correction profile RG Phosphor in Argyll / DisplayCAL to calibrate with my x-rite i1 display pro. Y at - it maybe another BDU profile, I could use? From my experience in DUSCS I remember a cryptic "Preset" for hardware calibration (which could not be changed under the name of monitor, starting with an X and then all the numbers, but I can not find this analysis with argyll installation file.) What gamma and black point settings that you would recommend?

I would be grateful if your specialists could share their advice and wisdom for the best solution of calibration for D65 / D50 to Argyll in order to get the best out of this monitor. I think that this monitor may have a very good and accurate picture quality, but the firmware and software DELL is not really delivered. Yes I'm using the latest firmware for this monitor.

With best regards, Chris in Vienna

Below my calibration results and parameters to Argyll / DisplayCAL for D65, 100 CD.

UP2716D monitor Gamut (colour) vs Adobe RGB after a calibration with Argyll

AdobeRGB (CAL1/2 or AdobeRGB factory) being useless without color management, go to 'Personal colour', select CPU, get an AMD Radeon, AMD over-pants or a nvidia Quadro and perform a calibration card LUT with DisplayCAL to D65. If is close to the D65 native white point you work in AdobeRGB images with the native range without losing too many levels of gray.

If this is not acceptable, return your monitor to the store.

For DisplayCAL, I'll choose D65, whitlevel = backlevel = native, 2.2 calibration native, slow, others by default. Then set brightness control level by yourself.

  • Adobe Flash crashed so I have disabled hardware acceleration

I guess many people is aware of this problem.
When you leave a video full screen, flash player crashed. Then I saw the solution in this site. He tells me to disable hardware acceleration. If it worked, I'm supposed to update my graphics drivers, but it is already up to date. I don't want to keep my hardware acceleration disabled but when I allow it I still have a few problems. Help me!
    Thank you

Disabling hardware acceleration in the settings of the Flash is the solution given in article videos Flash will not play in full screen . If it works, the article suggests to update your graphics driver. If you can't do that, it's OK to leave disabled hardware acceleration. This Adobe help page has more information:

    Quote:

If I have some display problems with Flash Player, what should I do?

If you have problems to view with Flash Player, such as poor quality, image or slow display times deselect Enable hardware acceleration in the display panel. This should eliminate the problems of compatibility of hardware or driver with Flash Player. Flash Player then uses the software to scale and display content.

    http://forums.Adobe.com/thread/652047

Screen LCD Planar 26 inches wide, Eye One Display 2 and last Lightroom. Just upgraded to Win7 64 bit and kaboom. After calibration and profiling of all the colors of Windows hardware looks great but the photos from my camera (GF2) appear dull in LR and does not match what I see when save for Web and look through the web. Same images open on calibrated XP machine seems very good, all the colors are as expected. If I do not use calibration hardware on Win7 machine and just tweak the sliders in Control Panel-> colors look a little off the coast but not dull and uniform and behave as I hope, used for color management. I tried the two ColorEyes DisplayPro and programs match i1 in simple mode and advanced with similar results (bad). All options other than to stay with XP or use the manual calibration of equipment?  Thank you!

The interesting thing is that if I do proof Setup-> Monitor RGB everything looks much better

I was going to ask about the next. This means that the "dull" colors are actually correct.

Evidence to monitor attributes the monitor profile to the document. Two identical profiles, document > monitor the results of the conversion to no change, and so the sRGB values are thrown directly into Adobe RGB (monitor) color space. The result is the supersaturation.

IOW, there's nothing wrong. What you see, it's normal and expected with a range wide screen.

Use Firefox with the parameter described above by Lundberg. Then everything will be displayed correctly.

  • Hardware acceleration of flash player does not work on windows 10

I installed windows 10 yesterday, everything works fine except the hardware acceleration in flash. I don't see that a green video if I activate hardware acceleration. Work videos flash if I disable hardware acceleration, but I don't think it's a good solution because the CPU usage goes way up. I have an AMD ATI Radeon HD 4890 and I use the drivers supplied with windows 10 because amd has not released any Windows 10 drivers for my card. Strange thing is that hardware acceleration works fine in chrome, so I think this isn't a driver problem, is there some way I can fix this in firefox?

I solved the problem by installing the drivers amd since the INF, now working on hardware acceleration!

Edit: It seems that the Green video problem is solved with this solution because the CPU usage is always the same with hardware acceleration disabled

Windows 7 with the latest updates. Latest Firefox 38.0.1.
Typing slows down to the point that it's frustrating and I need to restart firefox. When the computer reboots, all right. Then after a day or two, it slows down again. I have run Norton malware scans. Hardware acceleration disabled. No other applications running.

    Almost ready switch to Chrome...

    Suggestions?

Thanks to all those of you who looked at my problem and made suggestions to solve them.

I decided to go there and try Chrome.

Since it was not an agreement on the solution to my problem solid (different approaches have been proposed) and I had already tried one number of other approaches based on firefox help, I decided that I had invested enough time to solve the problem and that I would move.

I always use firefox on my other computer with Windows Vista because I do NOT feel the creeping slowness problem and that he had to constantly restart firefox to regain normal performance on this computer. It uses the same version of firefox.

  • Disabled HW acceleration / all the addons FF window remains empty/no icons, just as it does when booting with any permit...

Image shows in every day, newly developed v.37 FF, with all the addons updated helped start. FF started in safe mode is exactly the same. Have already tried disabling WindowBlinds (title bar skin provider); It made no difference. A hardware acceleration disabled/enabled video. Not good. Updated hardware drivers (unless they released a last week). I hate using IE, and I wouldn't rather load Chrome. My time to play with several browsers on since HotJava.

Of course, it was a conflict between Norton and FF18. I upgraded my Norton (we have a subscription for 3 years, so it was free) to version 20.0.2.19 (latest version) and everything works like clockwork!

  • Software calibration Dell will improve the accuracy of the calibration in a later version? (Associated U2713H)

I'm having a problem with my purchase newly U2713H.

One of the reasons key I bought this monitor because it has 2 preset hardware calibration.

That save me a lot of time when I spend 2 color space workflow in Windows

(One fore one for sRGB and Adobe RGB)

and 14-bit LUT calibration equipment hardware is pregnant with precision.

Now, I tried to calibrate it with X-rite i1display Pro and software Calibration of Dell.

I tried the coordination parameters predefined and customized in the Dell monitor calibration software.

All results are terrible. I can't even D65 white point right.

Calibrated white point is WAY hotter that it must, the gamma is off, the color accuracy is mediocre at best.

Only the luminance is correctly calibrated.

However, I use custom color of the monitor preset and calibrate the monitor with basICColor 5 (calibration software)

The result is EXCELLENT, good white point, gamma correct, correct brightness, colors are on-site.

But there is a problem, the range either use predefined custom color standard.

If I want to use emulation Adobe RGB or sRGB. I can use these presets, but in these presets you can not adjust the color settings.

I can't calibrate my screen with these presets with basICColor 5.

So now I'm stuck. Hoping only Dell would have a specific version of monitor calibration software Dell.

I ask you, we will have that in the foreseeable future?

Because I consider really return or sell my U2713H so the answer is no.

    Thank you.

First of all, you cannot properly calibrate all GB - LED with Basiccolor 5 because it uses an older version of i1d3 SDK that don't support GB - led. Folder 'C:\Program Files\basICColor Software\basICColor display 5\PlugIns\i1d3 support Files\RG_Phosphor_Family_25Jul12.edr' is missing. If you add and edit "I1D3Mapping.txt" to contain it, it will show in the list box dropdown tecnology, but it will be ignored.

If you think you have calibration spftware excelent, but your "D65" if off to real D65 (green). Check it with ArgyllCMS (GNU software) and this BDU.

In second place, in a color space emulated without access to the RGB yo gain can 'fix' a little your WhitePoint via GPU LUT keep at least 93 to 96% RGB values. As monitor ages, WP will move and you must do this even if you have a D65 'perfect' at the moment.

Now to the crux of your question. It seems that the Dell software lacks a XML configuration. Check "C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\X-Rite\Dell Calibration\Logger\logger.txt color" for a line of the error in the first lines.

Missing XML file should be here 'C:\ProgramData\X-Rite\Dell UltraSharp Color Calibration Solution\displayTechTypes.xml. It's just a mapping between models of monitors and calibration BDUs corrections. If you don't have it, create it with this content:

But the 'Model' and 'Key' may vary in your case. Check the previous file, 'logger.txt' for the values as:

    "[24.05.2013 23:53:19.156] display of INFORMATION name: DELL U2413 - hardware ID: DELF047 - DisplayIndex: 0".

Also make sure that your nvidia card or ati does not have the color correction, 'colourful' or something like that.

And finally remember that the Dell-xrite software has a few flaws:

    1. it does not reset the values of LUT3D in each hardware calibration, so you have your factory reset values. It is a MAJOR, DELL problem. I therefore ask you, DELL, in order to solve this problem, once again... It cannot be if... just hard reset content LUT.

2-all the predefined values (rec 709, sRGB, AdobeRGB) are YOUR NATIVE white point. Use Custom preset to D65

One last thing, on the back of your 27: monitor LG GB - LED 27 "has its own software of hardware calibration (LG True Color or something like that), but if you buy this, it will work correctly for GB - LED for the same reason that 5 Basiccolor. It may seem to have a pretty white on the view, but no. Download (installation in a Virtuak Machine or something) and check yourself missing files for correction of BDUs.

And Asus 24 "" / 27 "GB - LED has no calibration hardware reset, so..." "adjust" your instalation of Dell color calibration Solution (I've ben asking a software update regarding LUT3D reset and they don't care) or purchase an Eizo/NEC for twice the price.

This is as sad as it may seem.

  • Thunderbird 38.0.1 on Windows 8.1 shows an extra space on the top or the bottom of some windows

Thunderbird automatically upgraded to 38.0.1, with some initial problems with incompatible lightning, as said elsewhere, but they were resolved automatically. Now, I have a problem that the main window is moved downwards by a white line, but Thunderbird acts as if she was OK, producing the effect of a calibrated mouse pointer. A message window, on the other hand, shows a black on the bottom and this line similar behavior. Similar things happen with other windows (e.g. Password Manager). If I restart in SafeMode (disabled all addons), everything is fine. If I manually disable all addons and restart, then it shows additional lines, as usual. Weird.
