• Cannot change the 'open with' default application in OS 10.7.4 Lion for CS applications

  When moving to a new version of an application, I would like to continue the default 'open with' on the previous version. It helps to smooth the transition.  I am currently working with CS5 and CS6 applications. • Open a file in a default application

  Hi all!

  I use to develop a BlackBerry JDE 4.2 application. I want to open a file in the default application supported by the BlackBerry device.

  Let me explain in depth. Whenever the user selects a file to open, I want to open this file in the default application without talking to the unit in which the application file should be opened. JDE 4.3 and later, this can be achieved by using javax.microedition.content.Invocation and javax.microedition.content.Registry API. Here is the snippet of code, how it can be done in JDE 4.3 or later.

  But this is not supported in JDE 4.2 and earlier version.

  As you say, we support JSR-211 Content Manager API in JDE/Handheld versions v4.3.0.

  I am answering my own question. I learned that if you right-click while trying to open a PDF file, you will be asked which application you want to use to open the file. If you click read the information, instead of choosing an application, you get this great information box that gives you the ability to set Adobe Reader in your default application for PDF files. It lets you change all the pdf files, you already have the Adobe files. Yay.

  Help, I have a small embroidery business and have used a program called Embird.  Yesterday, I downloaded an upgrade for this program. It said to uninstall the old program before installing the new, so I did.  Now when I try to install the new one it says this link must be opened with an application, select application.  I have no idea what it means that someone can help me?  I tried to restore the computer to a date prior to just start all over hoping he would restore the old Embird, it says that the file may be damaged and will not work.

  Follow these steps:

  In windows 10:

  Go to system

  then settings

  then the default applications

  then scroll down and select "choose default applications by file type.

  then scroll down to the file xlsx extension and make sure that it is set to EXCEL.

  Mine was not, somehow upgraded to acrobat.

  Then I changed it back and to EXCEL and it's fixed!

  What is happening on my Nikon and my Fuji SLR. All of a sudden it will not open in Photoshop CC. It is opening in Photoshop Elements, which is also in my Mac.   CD player took over as default application for .pdf files and I can not reset to Acrobat Pro XI. I tried with "open with...". "and"Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs\Set Associations"but CD player persists.
