Can character or paragraph automatically apply a style to recurring words in a document?

Can you character style or paragraph search for recurring words in a document and automatically apply a style? For example to make some "BOLD" words that appear several times in a document? To help Windows and must currently Adobe InDesign C.

You can add a GREP style to a paragraph style to apply a character style to any match for your GREP expression, which may be your Word.

  • In Photoshop CC2015-how I automatically apply a style to the shape layer that I draw?

    HI -.

    I work in an office with a few different versions of Photoshop on Windows 10.

    On my CS5 PSD I can draw some shape layers, like arrows and have all the styles applied automatically style palette that I draw.

    But the fellow with PSD CC 2015 workers need to use 2 markets - draw shape layer and then select the style in the style palette.  None of the settings on the top of the screen seem to allow us to apply the style we attract.

    Is there a hidden area or a preference?

    The automatic application of a style has been removed from Photoshop?

    TIA your answer.

    This is not possible with the latest Photoshop shape tool. If you want that it is a characteristic shape tool like Photoshop old tool form the best you can do is submit an idea on the Adobe site comments but you hold no breath hoping Adobe will implement your idea.  If you want this feature you will now need to regress to an older version of Photoshop as CS2. This is the version of Photoshop, I used for my second screenshot, Photoshop community customer family

  • How to apply the Style to some words in a paragraph (or table)?

    I have a table with the #'s. Some numbers have a note marked with an asterisk.

    For example:

    A01-121600

    A01-121602

    A01-121608 *.

    A01-121610

    A01-121611 *.

    And in this table, there are hundreds of part # s with some with reference asterisks scattered through. I wish that the asterisks to be red in color and a smaller font size. So I created a character style to reflect that.

    So, my question is there a way to apply this new character Style to the entire table, then each asterisk is changed?

    Thank you.

    The find/replace field allows you to apply a character Style to all the text found.

    Another option: If all the text in your table is formatted with a paragraph Style, you could add a GREP style to add this character Style to all instances of an asterisk in the text of this paragraph Style. This way, if the new numbers of the asterisk was added later, the asterisk turns to Red style automatically.

  • How to automatically apply templates A and B consecutively...

    Specifically, I want to automatically apply templates A and B consecutively to a document on all of its pages.

    I found this piece of code in the sample scripts and figured out how to apply B master on one page (page 3 in this case)

    myDocument var = app.activeDocument;
    myPage var = myDocument.pages.item (2);

    myPage.appliedMaster = myDocument.masterSpreads.item("B-Master");

    but now I'm totally confused as to how to proceed.

    I tell myself I need a function to know how many pages in my document, then apply the master B each page until the end.

    so, for example, my document is 6 pages long when I create just has a mask applied to all pages, if A, A, A, A, A, A

    but I want him to be A, B, A, B, A, B.
    fairly easy task to do manually for the 6 pages I know would be very handy on documents much more time...

  • Problems with character and paragraph styles!

    Hello

    I have a problem to inDesign that I don't normally.

    (I work on a macbook pro)

    I'm adding a text in a template document. I have two character styles and the paragraphstyles.

    This is how I work:

    I place my text I have the text box. (placing a word document) First I get all of the italicized words in the text placed and they give a character style: italic. Then, I want to give a definition to the whole text. It is a 'regular' from the same font of type version. When I do that, all of the text get this pink-ish marking meens that the text has not been completely changed the style AND a little plus (+) next to the paragraph style accurs. Normally I just press alternative (alt) as I click the paragraph style and thus cancels the problem. BUT when I do that now all the text becomes italic - witch is not in the selected paragraph style. Why?

    I'm really lost how can I solve this problem - I don't want to create a new document because it is a model that I use each month for a magazine and normally it works.

    Would be - this code in the word document? Or what?

    Thank you!

    best,

    Sara

    Create your paragraph style

    Paste your text

    Run the Script PrepText

    http://InDesignSecrets.com/free-scripts-help-fix-Word-formatting.php

    This will apply/create character styles etc. italic, bold in all the text that you pasted in this text.

    Select all of your text - and click the clear button the replacements at the bottom of the paragraph Style Panel.

  • Overide of Styles of character of paragraphs of text styles

    Hello

    I did something that caused the following to happen:

    1. whenever I have put some text in ID CC victory, my text automatically turns pink and has a certain title font - this comes from one of my character styles.

    2. when I then selects a paragraph style, nothing happens. The paragraph style to display I return to character styles and select style - NO.

    Can you tell me how to get this action to stop and instead, to get a specific paragraph style to become default for all set text?

    Thank you, in advance.

  • style character or paragraph to the text of my body?

    Which should I use, style of character or paragraph to the text of my body? When I first import text in my document, which should I apply?

    Don't we just cover it with you, or was it someone else?

    Paragraph styles are the first level of formatting and are applied to all the text in a paragraph. They include fonts specifications. Character styles are in 'special' situations where you need to a single character or a word or group of words, to have a feature that has a different shape, the basic text attributes applied in the paragraph style. Character styles can be as simple as changing type of italics, or by adding a line of underscores, regardless of the police, or can include police information that will always force this particular text to be in a certain face, weight, size and even if you reset the paragraph style of the text that surrounds (you could do this for a brand name of the product).

    You don't want to apply a character style to an entire paragraph.

  • How to apply several styles of one-sentence paragraphs?

    I'm using paragraph styles, but is not useful because I am applying 2 different styles in the same sentence that does not work.

    To make it work, I selects the sentence, apply the style, for example 'xfont-regular"then I select the word in the sentence that I want to have a different style and I choose in the list perhaps italic police so that it looks like 'something like this'

    Of course, in doing so, I lose all the benefits of the use of styles p and of course, it's so your time. Is it possible to break down the sentence, now in the same line, so that I can apply different styles to it? and always keep the benefits to go just to styles and make the changes to the entire document that this style is applied.

    As Diane King mentioned, nested character styles may work for your need. His example was an initial capital of fall (multiline first one or several letters of a paragraph.) Dropped caps are a particular type of nested style - always the very first one or more characters in a paragraph, high on two or more lines.

    To use the general type of nested style, you must be able to identify the words in the paragraph which gets the nested character style. For example, the third word, or the first two words after the first semicolon. If there is no model of Word (s) that can be identified by the post office or the sequence, it is possible that a GREP style can be used to find a common pattern of characters and apply a style of character to it, for example a phone number, the date, or the amount of currency that is identified by a dollar sign book, or yuan.

    Search Help for InDesign and Google "Style nested InDesign', 'InDesign grep Style' and similar (without the quotes) terms for more details. There has been many discussions of GREP on this forum.

  • Can I automatically synchronize my styles across several .indd files?

    I have a book consisting of 10 separate files. I work in Chapter 4 and I decide to change a paragraph or character style. Is it possible to apply the new style to all chapters without running the load all text Styles... command for each chapter? If I change a style, I just want to automatically apply it to all of my chapters.

    Use the feature of the book. Once all your documents are in the book, open the book panel menu, then sync your styles.

    I have a little problem. How to apply existing styles. Different style to the first, second and third paragraph of the story/selection. I think it's simple, but I can't solve the problem. Thank you.

    var paraStyle2 = app.activeDocument.paragraphStyles.itemByName ("style2");

  • Clicking on a paragraph Style does not apply text Style

    I just switched from a PC to a whole new MacBook Pro (OS x 10.7 Lion), and InDesign CS5.5 bought. I use CS4 on a PC for a few years and had no problems. For some reason, I can't apply Styles to paragraph by moving my cursor in the text and clicking the paragraph style. It highlights the style clicked for a while and then goes to value all styles, but does not apply the changes. The only way I can apply a Style of paragraph right now is click with the right button on the style and selecting 'apply... '. "in the menu dropdown. It is very curious. I was wondering if anyone had experience with this. I also have Microsoft Office: Mac 2011 installed on the laptop, if it makes a difference to anyone. Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I dial and change my life, and this problem slows me down a bit.

    Right on any of the third party plug-ins. It was actually 'good Zoom '. A third-party application that corrects some native zonky zoom behavior for Mac. I disabled it, and it has cleared up the problem. It's pretty strange, however, isn't it? Thanks for your help!

  • Help: apply different styles of Pará to several consecutive paragraphs using the script

    Hi all

    I need to apply different styles of Pará to several consecutive paragraphs using the script, something like this (found somewhere on the net):

    myDoc = app.documents var [0];

    mySel var = app.selection [0];

    var myPStyle1 = "A";

    var myPStyle2 = 'B ';.

    you need to add 6 styles here:

    var myPStyle3 = 'C ';

    var myPStyle4 = "D";

    var myPStyle5 = 'E ';

    var myPStyle6 = 'F';

    var myPStyle7 = "G";

    var myPStyle8 = 'H ';

    the last style is not necessary in the script?

    apply style 1 paragraph 1

    mySel.appliedParagraphStyle = myDoc.paragraphStyles.item (myPStyle1);

    apply styles to the paragraphs after selection

    style 2

    mySel.paragraphs [-1] .insertionPoints [-1] .appliedParagraphStyle = myDoc.paragraphStyles.item (myPStyle2);

    next style

    mySel.paragraphs [-1] .insertionPoints [-1] .paragraphs [0] .insertionPoints [-1] .appliedParagrap hStyle = .nextStyle myDoc.paragraphStyles.item (myPStyle2);

    I tried a lot, but could not find the way to extend the sequence

    Sorry, no skills in the scripts still...

    all styles have "Next Style" option enabled, but I can't use ' apply style, then next style "or object styles, because I need four different sequences of these paragraph styles:

    A-B-C-D-E-F-G-H

    A-B-D-E-G-H

    A-C-D-F-G-H

    A-D-G-H

    and I don't really want to create special clones of the same style for each sequence (Keep It Simple, they say ).

    I think that this can be done through four slightly adjusted scripts...

    any suggestions would be greatly appreciated...

    Sorry to be late to the party, I usually take up such things immediately.

    How about this one?

    1. no separate necessary script, it uses a small dialog box where you can choose what style to use. If I'm not mistaken, you can press a digit key on Windows to immediately select one of the items.

    2. it works down in the paragraph in that your cursor is located. It has nothing to do with the blocks of text, even if - consecutive paragraphs within a story always ignore the text frames.

    3. extensible: you can easily change the names of the styles in the table at the top of the page and the number of groups of style in the list.

    var styleLists = [
              [ "A", "B", "C", "D", "E", "F", "G", "H" ],
              [ "A", "B", "D", "E", "G", "H" ],
              [ "A", "C", "D", "F", "G", "H" ],
              [ "A", "D", "G", "H" ]
    ];

    var radiobutts = [];

    styleDialog = app.dialogs.add ({name:"Set Multiple Styles",canCancel:true});
    with (styleDialog)
    {
              with (dialogColumns.add())
              {
                        with (radiobuttonGroups.add())
                        {

  • InDesign applies erroneously style to any text character

    Last year, I had been importing text in InDesign with little trouble until that what happens beginning of problem and I cannot understand why.

    Let's say I have a CS3 file with defined character and paragraph styles.

    If I draw a blank text box, InDesign displays the character style "exposing" paragraph style "ext_all" are applied. I choose "Break link to Style", but if I'm importing text in this box, the "Exhibitor" character style is applied.

    The following happens first or not if I created a text box:

    If I import a Word style file, all of the text is available in style 'exposing' until it reaches a word character style.

    If I import a text file that contains the InDesign tag, all text is available in style 'exposing' until it reaches a character tag.

    If I import a rtf file a very simple sentence, all the text is of 'exposing '.

    Anyone run into this? I tried Googling, but impossible to find a discussion about this. Thanks in advance!

    Maybe you inadvertently put these styles as the default values? That will happen if you click on them with nothing selected. For the active document go to the text tool and make sure that there is no active cursor or a block of selected text, then check to see that the character style is set to [none] and paragraph to what you would like to be your default style. Also check the settings in the character and paragraph panels.

    To make sure this is not postpone in any more new documents, if indeed that was the problem, close all documents and repeat the steps above. With no document open your selections become the defaults for all new work until this that changed.
