Can connect is no longer with my external hard drive.

I started getting this message while trying to connect to our external hard drive: no more connections can be made to this remote computer at this time, because there are already as many connections as the computer can accept.   We use it to transfer files between our office and our laptop.  The office is the main computer that is running Windows XP home.  The laptop is running Windows 7.  It works very well.  Someone has an idea of what is happening, and how to fix?

Thank you

kbp

Hello

Windows XP Home Edition can keep only 5 network connections.

Apparently, your network is now more than that to the computer and cannot connect the reader more.

Win XP Pro 10 connections.

  • How can I change the icon associated with an external hard drive in XP?

I had to reformat etc and when settled dust that I can not put an icon on my external hard drive from seagate 1 t. It's not bad but it drives me crazy because it seems that it does not...

Using Notepad, create a file with the following content

    [autorun]
    ICON = localpath\iconfile

Save the file as autorun.inf (be sure to set "Save as type" in the drop-down list for "All Files" box).

    • IconFile is a file with the file extension ico icon.
    • LocalPath is the file (or folder and subfolder, etc.), without a drive designation.  So, for example, if there is a folder in the root of the named Seagate external drive, and you have an icon named seagate.ico file, the line in your autrorun.inf file would be:

    Icon = Seagate\seagate.ico

Note that the square brackets in the first line should be included
The autorun.inf file is usually a hidden, but making it so is yours.

Yes. Find LR catalog file in Edit/settings/general catalogue. Close LR and go to this place. The catalog file is one that ends by .lrcat - move it where you want. Beside the .lrcat file is a subfolder called Previews.lrdata. You can move, but if you don't not LR will generate new insights. Double-click the .lrcat file in her new home and LR will open with this catalogue. Set preferences in more recent catalogue.

  • create the dual boot with an external hard drive

I want to create dual boot laptop (OS 2 in 1) in my laptop, but my internal hard drive reach maximum (3) logical partition for my windows operating system 7 is not allow me to create a new logical partition install win8 pro. I've planed to buy an external hard drive and connect with my laptop and install win8 in external hard drive and use win8 and 7. Is it possible? If possible how to create? Please give me instructions step by step.

    Hi Karthik,

If your hard drive has enough free disk space, you can install a newer version of Windows on a separate partition and keep the earlier version of Windows on your computer. It's called a multiboot or dual-boot configuration. Every time that you start your computer, you can choose which version of Windows to run. You can also install Windows 8 on an external hard drive and use it to dual boot.

You can see the Microsoft article below for more information about this.

  • How can I recover iTunes library on an external hard drive

Stupidly I deleted my iTunes library earlier today and fight to get it back. (All purchased songs always appear but all songs imported from CDs are gone). I deleted the library and then empty the trash. I have a update on my external hard drive last night so hope I can restore my library iTunes from my external hard drive, but can't get it. Have tried, as a result of aid, online articles, but I do not get any further...

So far, I saved my iTunes backup folder on my desktop iMac. There was a suggestion to open iTunes, while holding down the SHIFT key (keyboard of Windows) and this should allow me to create a new library or open an existing one - none of these options appeared, my result was iTunes open normally and showing all my purchased songs. The other suggestion is to open iTunes - file - Library - Library to import the backup file, but also no results.

It seems it should be easy but... not for me to do something. Can anyone offer advice that does not suggest that I have to re - import all the music?

    Thanks in advance

    Truck

The file that you must replace is located in the following location.

    / Users/USERNAME/music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music

Just replace the one on your Mac with the library you want. Don't forget, it's only music, not any what other apps, videos etc., if you want to replace it, replace the entire iTunes Media.

I suggest that you give all permissions for everyone on this folder and check if it works.

  • Synchronize folders with an external hard drive.

Can anyone help? I want to be able to sync my library and office with an external hard drive (Freecom on USB) files.  The goal is to be able to maintain an up to the minute backup of all my files, so that the next time my hard drive failure I have to absolutely all backed up. I am aware that that is not only the problem of accidental deletion of files so periodically I will also manually save the backup to a different folder on the same hard drive, or is it also possible to get windows to schedule this backup type automatically)? Or y at - it another way to achieve this level of security of the files without a mirror raid arrays (or spend more money on hardware or software)?

    Try this:

I would like to inform you that, if the backup is interrupted and it is asking to start the backup. Then, you will need to perform a new backup.

  • To edit first with different computers, with an external hard drive

Is it possible to have several editors work with an external hard drive in cs6 first so that when the external drive is reconnected to a different computer that the files do not have to be reconnected. It seems that every time that the hard drive is open on another computer, it loses track of where the files are located and we spend a moment to reconnect them.

Just check that the drive letter of the disk is the same for all computers.

  • computer a824n of office doesn't start with an external hard drive 2T connected.

My HP Pavilion a824n desktop computer won't start with my new external hard drive 2T connected via a USB port.  The computer stops on the first screen, which I think is the Intel screen, with options for press ESC, F1, F10.  But these keys do nothing.  The only way out is to press the power button until the computer turns off.

If I disconnect the external drive before turning the power on, the computer starts normally, the internal hard drive.  After that, I can connect from the outside and it works correctly, so I don't think that there is a defect in it.

I can get into the screen of the BIOS settings to start with the external drive disconnected and by pressing the F8 key.  But the BIOS shows adequate priority, with the hard drive screen internal first, second DVD, third CD.  The internal hard drive is correctly identified by the model number and the new external drive is not at all (because I started without the connected external.)

My guess is that when I start with connected externally, BIOS thinks it's the hard drive, it is supposed to boot from.  How can I get the machine to boot from the internal drive?

Your guess is correct. The hard part is that I'm not sure of an exact solution I've seen this be something difficult to solve.

Have you tried to update the firmware of an external drive?

Have you updated your PC BIOS? If you are still running XP, I think that it is the update to the BIOS of your PC:

  • I can't save the file to my external hard drive connected to my wireless router!

I have a wireless router netgear WNDR3700 with 'plug-and-play' feature that allows a home to simply connect your hard drive to your network. I managed it to get up and running, but I encountered some problems when I tried to save files on the disk. The strange thing is that I can copy and paste or move the files to the location that I want to but I can't save it there... I have windows 7 Professional 64-bit installed.

    I thought about it :)

In the folder "My Computer" and under "Network location" I clicked on my external hard drive. Just below the navigation bar, I clicked on 'Map network drive' I entered all the information of location on hard disk and I got another file under "network location". I deleted the old one and used a new one that I could use without any problems until now... hope this makes sense...
