Can I install multiple copies of Vista Ultimate on the same machine?

Hello

I want to give to my family access to my machine (after a lot of introspection - us material are very protective of our stuff :)).  However, I will not give them access to my installation optimized for Vista game: it took an eternity of disabling and uninstalling things to do to get into this State.

I know at least one of them will want to install full of things, such as the device drivers and IBM DB2 and other things that I don't really want to have it on my setup, that is purely for the start in as fast as possible and to play games on.

So I want to install another copy of Vista on a different hard disk on the same computer to use.

Will it be legal?  It will activate OK?

Thank you

Hello

NO.

It's not legal

A vista license = AN installation of vista, even on the same computer

You can set up different accounts for them in the existing vista installation

User accounts to ensure that several people can easily share a single computer. Each person can have a separate user account with unique settings and preferences, such as a background theme and color office. User accounts also control the files and programs that you can access and what kinds of changes you can make to the computer. As a general rule, you'll want to create standard accounts for most computer users.

  • Can I install OBIEE 10 g and 11g on the same machine?

    While I'm waiting for new hardware, I wanted to start on the installation of OBIEE 11 g on my laptop. Can I do if I have already 10g installed?

    I want to assure you that if I install that it will not affect my current configuration of 10g. I don't know if it substitutes for certain files and folders, or if I can do a separate install for both.

    Hi, I installed OBIEE 10 g and 11g of the same machine (by car).

    Because the installation of 10g OBIEE was the first, it took the 9704 and 9703 port for messages of the BI server.

    Then I installed the OBIEE 11 g installation used the port 9500 (analytical) and por 9702 for BI server. It has also used port 7001 to Weblogic Administration Console.

    The two instances of OBIEE works great!

  • Can I install 2 copies of Windows 7 on the same PC in a dual-boot configuration (using the same license key)?

    I just bought Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade Family Pack, with 3 upgrade licenses.

    I update my 3 PCs at the House Windows XP to Windows 7.

    I double on 2 of these PCs, boot Windows XP (for me, one for my wife) on different partitions. the two Windows installs fine activated using the same license (probably because they are on the same physical computer with the same hardware, and only 1 instance of Windows XP can be used at a time).

    I like to create 2 different partitions, and install Windows on each and choose the one that start when I boot. It worked well in Windows XP. Can I do this with my new Windows 7 Family Pack?

    My final configuration would have 1 PC with 1 partition and a new update to Win 7; and 2 PCs each dual-boot using the other 2 licenses.

    Please calm down, the question is not so complicated (if you read the operating instructions / first license agreements).

    (1) If you want to cancel an upgrade and return to your old system under license (XP), you can do it. You can not use XP anymore, If you upgrade. But if you come back that the State of origin, you will have the same license as before.

    (2) with your Family Pack, you can spend 3 PC to Windows 7. 3 upgrade licenses = 3 licenses to upgrade. It's an interesting idea to use it to "5 installed on different partitions 5" because two of them are "on the same physical PC." However, you should know the rule "1 license is 1 pc." You use not here too artificial.

  • ThinApp - I can't install Excel 2003 and Access 2003 on the same machine

    Hi all

    I have a problem and I can not solve. I have two packages of creatud:

    • Excel 2003
    • Access 2003

    When I install a package, it's the work of weel but when I try to install the second, I got this error message:

    A version identical or newer Microsoft Office Access 2003 (VMware ThinApp) is already installed

    Can you help me please ?

    Miluge

    The reason for the same GUID (MSIPackagecode, MSIUpgradecode) is the capture of the individual components of a single configuration. In your case, you could have captured Access 2003 and Excel 2003 in a single Office 2003 configuration. Thus, ThinApp share the same GUID of the original configuration.

    To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. open one of the package.ini and uncomment the code MSIProductCode and MSIUpgrade (by removing ';' at the beginning)

    2. change code both MSIPackagecode and MSIUpgrade for this package. You can do it by changing just a single bit in the 32-bit key.

    For example, if your GUID looks like below,

    MSIProductCode = {2DF388F8-535F-6909-DBBA-288792F19500}

    MSIUpgradeCode = {0B400927-A236-B536-B00A-8961831A298F}
    You can change the values as below. Here I changed only the last piece

    MSIProductCode = {2DF388F8-535F-6909-DBBA-288792F19501}

    MSIUpgradeCode = {0B 400927 - A236 - B536 - B00A - 8961831A 298G}

    3. rebuild the package and test it. It should work now.

  • How can I install win 8 and win 7 on the same machine

    I am running Win 7 Ultimate and want to install Win 8 Pro as an additional operating system without remove Win 7 and then have the ability to boot to one of the OS.

    One possibility would be to run Windows 8 as VM on Windows 7, although it may not give the best experience.

    Otherwise you're going to need another partition or another drive to install Windows 8 on. If you're talking about a laptop, then additional disks options are few but for a desktop computer, it is by far the best option.

    Provide the original disc is not full shrink the current C: partition to create the ability for Windows 8 must be installed on the empty space is not so difficult, that's exactly what I did with my Acer Touch PC to allow me to test Windows 8 and it worked perfectly (no space for another drive). I could even point Windows 8 at the partition of Windows 7 to search for drivers for the unidentified material, and all have been resolved.

    Windows Vista Ultimate had some problem so I installed another a thought that whoever has the problem would be to replace it with the new, but he does not. So now I'm stuck with 2 Windows Vista Ultimate on my computer and it take so much space. So my question is: how to remove or uninstall Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. Even if you have a little idea, submit it.*

    Alyosha

    Alyosha,

    Remove or uninstall Windows Vista is possible in specific scenarios. You please clarify how you did your installation of Windows Vista?

    1. have you installed your new ultimate configuration on a new partition?

    2. have you you choose customized and placed the installation in the same partition as your old ultimate configuration? In this case you see two Windows folder in your C: drive / drive (or any other partition)? (Possibly with the .old extension)

    For installation of two operating systems to Windows Vista on two separate partitions study the following:

    Before you begin you will need your Installation of Vista support

    Start then in the version of Vista you want to keep and follow these steps to reformat the partition now unwanted Vista install and then uninstall.

    Note:

    • Formatting a volume will destroy all data on the partition. Be sure to make backups of all the data to save before you begin.
    • You cannot format a disk or partition that is currently in use, including the partition that contains Windows.
    • Quick format is a formatting option that creates a new file table, but do not completely overwrite or erase the volume. A quick format is much faster than a normal format, which fully erases the existing data on the volume.

    1. open computer management by clicking the Start button, click Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, clicking Administrative Tools, and then double-click computer management. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

    2. in the Navigation pane, under storage, click disk management.

    3. right click on the volume that you want to format, and then click format.

    4. to format the volume with the default settings, in the format dialog box, click OK, and then click OK again.

  • install two copies of windows oem on the same computer

    Installation of two separate copies of OEM windows 7 on the same computer (an ultimate, a home premium, the two 64 bit) the problem is that I can't hide (do it completely unavailable - mask not only) the first installed OS of each from the second partition (identified as "oem partition") when it is started in the second operating system.

    I would like to do to use the ultimate as a main working OS operating system (be able to load up with various applications, databases of workers etc. etc., that once everything is loaded tends to emphasize the system a little (it does not as effectively as I would like).) I would then use the partition Home premium for latency sensitive things. boot between the two and other work is managed by linux (grub 2)

    the disks are defined as readers of ahci uefi (couple of ssd for boot/apps/pagefile)

    Is it still possible? (even with me having to buy the commercial versions of the os (non - oem), or microsoft is trying to wrest a sort of copy protection scheme

    the two disks (main) are set up as follows
    / dev/sda1 to fat32 (for gpt disks) startup (resized to 500 MB of 128)
    / dev/sda2 unknown ms reserved (this is set here as part of microsofts uefi partitioning installation sequence)
    / dev/sda3 ntfs first installation (7 ultimate) operating system

    dev/sdb1 unknown ms reserved (see above)
    dev/sdb2 ntfs second os install - he actually complains during installation that it cannot install on the partition, but he does it anyway

    Thanks in advance for any help

    I forgot to add the second installed operating system know the partition indicator 'hide '.

    Microsoft has never designed a version of Windows that can hide another version of Windows.  You will need to use a boot improved as Manager:

  • How can I install El Capitan on several computers at the same time?

    I live in Spain, where I have a few computers to service. The internet lines here are slow and unstable, so it is difficult to get all of the updates in without entering the trail other activities.

    I wonder if it is possible to download El Capitan on a single computer and then distribute to others, after which I can update at the same time am.

    Would this be possible?

    According to the license agreement, the license of the OS is for you only, but you can install on any computer YOU own and control. So if download you it and then reject the Setup program before you start, you can find it in your Applications folder from where you can copy it somewhere safe to use on another computer that you own.

    Because the download is linked to your Apple ID, use it on another computer does not work as it should download it using their own Apple ID or they will never be able to reinstall or update that the used ID does not correspond to their.

    And, since you said you 'service' of computers, you will need to look at another type of license - you will need to contact Apple. The retail license is nothing for you.

  • Can I use multiple < class p 'logos' = > tag with the same name in the same html page?

    I was told do not to use the < div class > tags too many times. I used them for the texts, the images, to clear the floats, basically, I built my website using multiple < div class > tags. So if I can not use several tags < div class > can I use the tags < class p > several times in the same html page?

    I have a string of logos at the bottom of my Web page that all use the same css for all logos features. It would be the right way to write the code:

    HTML

    < class p 'logos' = > Logo1 < a href = "... > < /a > < /p >"

    < class p 'logos' = > Logo2 < a href = "... > < /a > < /p >"

    < class p 'logos' = > Logo3 < a href = "... > < /a > < /p >"

    < class p 'logos' = > Logo4 < a href = "... > < /a > < /p >"

    < class p 'logos' = > Logo5 < a href = "... > < /a > < /p >"

    < class p 'logos' = > Logo6 < a href = "... > < /a > < /p >"

    CSS

    .logos {}

    margin-left: 10px;

    }

    Here is my site: http://www.darbymanufacturing.com/test_website/index.html - this is the site built with all the tags div class

    I restarted the site in order to write the code correctly so that I don't come from errors when downloading from the server, as I have with the above link.

    However, custom (and it's only a good one I think) are to use IDS to identify the primary container on your page.  Clearly you usually only have one header, content, footer, etc., area on a page.  This allows you to immediately identify where these rules apply.  Using a more generic class selector does not give you the same immediate locatability.  In addition to this, ID selectors have a specificity greated than the class selectors, which reinforces the rules cascade in the specific containers.

  • HP Pavilion Notebook 15-199sa: can I install more RAM and an SSD at the same time?

    Hello

    I have a HP Pavilion Notebook 15-p199sa I would like to be updated by installing an additional 8 GB of RAM and an SSD.

    I could do both at the same time, or it would be more advisable to do one at a time?

    Usually, I'd do one at a time, but take it apart the laptop and remove the motherboard are quite a job! I have a Ph D in breaking things and I know that if I take the laptop part twice then nothing good will come of it.

    I was considering also put the current HARD disk in the optical drive, but somewhere in the 20 pages of comments to this thread deals UK it is written the header on the motherboard for the DVD player is only SATA I - someone has a I experience to put a HDD in SATA optical drive? (or did someone knows if the header is really SATA I - the manual does not say).

    Otherwise, I could put the existing 1.5 TB of HARD drive in an external enclosure and connect it to a USB 3.0 port. The manual says to connect external drives to these ports is OK but it does not have all the features - would it be a good idea to use a powered USB 3.0 hub or a powered external case? (rather than using the bus power).

    Uh, that's all for now, I think

    John latter

    Hello

    Nothing prevents you to do both at the same time. I have half a dozen old records HARD in USB 3.0, USB 2.0 external enclosures and they work fine. They work on all of my laptops and more comfort than those who have power supplies (much smaller than now).

    Kind regards.
