  In 2010 I bought Windows 7 Pro (downloadable), which was composed of three files - executable and two .box file.  Run the executable file created a subdirectory called "expandedSetup" in the .box file.  This directory contains all files in the folders to include a .box setup.exe.  I installed this on a test without problem computer.  In trying to create a VM Pro Windows (since I can't run the setup.exe directly), I used MagicISO to create an ISO of the contents of the directory "expandedSetup".  When I select the file in VMware, it recognizes that it is Windows 7 Pro; However, after the initial requirements of VMware configuration, VMware tries to run the image and returns with "Not found operating system".  And that's my problem.

  Each manufacturer is different things about the recovery partition.  You need to contact the computer manufacturer (online - they can publish procedures - or by telephone) for instructions on how to use the recovery disk (there are probably a combination of special keys at boot that activates the process).  Keep in mind that this type of resettlement will completely eliminate your primary system partition, so don't forget to backup your important data until you try it.

  While ESXi 4 will install, DL380 G4 platform is not supported.  This generation of processor (Xeon 51xx) taken supported operating systems for 64-bit, but there is no VT extensions.  It's why he can't support 64-bit clients.

  I have just downloaded 8 Win and tried to upgrade my existing Win 7 Home Premium VM, which I run on VMWare Fusion 5.0.1 on my Intel MacBook Pro 2009. I wasn't able to do the upgrade in place - the installer told me that it was not possible to run Win 8 on this machine. Instead, I created a. ISO file and used to install Win 8 in a new virtual machine. Everything works fine, but I can't activate Win 8. The error message tells me that "something is wrong with the product key" even if I could install Win 8 with the same fine product key.

  I called various hotlines MS today but don't have anything got no solid advice. Am I the only one who experience this issue? Is there something I need to pay attention during installation of the virtual machine to win 8? Is it possible to install a fresh VM with a key product upgrade in the first place? I would appreciate any information you might have on this subject.

  Currently Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 x 86 (no patches since 2008). Currently, it has no AV and has not been connected to the internet yet. It will be behind a router.
