Can I manage my guests of ESX4 u1 using different VCenters?

According to the previous post, I am putting together a new Vcenter VM with all 64-bit stuff to host to Vcenter 4.1.

I still have my old Vcenter running.

So I want to stop the old VM Vcenter, and put my new living Vcenter 4.1, including migrating of databases.

If all goes well, my two knots of ESX4 U1 will be managed by the new Vcenter.

However, if something gets screwed, can I just stop the Vcenter 4.1, and then turn on the old Vcenter?

Yet manageable ESXs by old Vcenter after the run by a newer version?

Thanks

Hello

According to the published, release of ESX 4.0 compatibility matrix, Update 1 and Update 2 are compatible with all versions of vCenter (4.0, U1, U2). This means that ESX 4.0 U2 can be managed via vCenter 4.0.

If I get this right you try to upgrade vCenter server 4.0 to 4.1 and the version of ESX host is 4.0 Update 1

You can use the ESX 4.0 Update 1 vCenter 4.0 U1 and vCenter 4.1, every time we add an ESX host to vCenter vCenter agents are installed on the ESX host that are deleted on the removal of the host and a different version would be added if you add the ESX host to another VC.

In my opinion, this shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this information helps
