Can I replace the hard drive of my HP HDX16-1140US with this hard drive hybrid?

Hello. I run the SMART test on my hard drive (500 GB) and he said that it was about to fail quickly. I would like to replace my hard drive with this one:

http://www.Amazon.com/Seagate-Momentus-solid-hybrid-ST95005620AS/DP/B003NSBF32

Is this possible? What are some other drives to consider?

www.crucial.com is a utility that will scan your system and give recommendations for upgrading your RAM and hard drive based on your specific system. You can check for the tough they recommend then go back to Amazon and buy if you don't like their prices.

Make sure that you back up everything before you install the new hard drive. If your computer is equipped with recovery disks or if you have the opportunity to make some, do it before the death of your hard drive. You use to install the operating system on the new drive, or you can purchase the commercial version of any OS you need to reinstall.

    Yes you can. Here's the part you have to do with. Just remove the optical drive, add a hard disk in one of these adapters and replace it for the optical drive:

    https://www.jacobsparts.com/items/HDDBAY-02/

    You may also need to swap the façade of the old optical disc to make the installation of good look.

    I wouldn't use this for one SSD. An SSD belonged to the main disk space to enjoy the speed. The drive into the optical drive adapter will not be bootable and it will be not given quite as fast as the main hard drive transfer speeds. So if you have a drive in this card, a big (1 TB) and slow (5400 RPM) drive would be preferable. It will be purely for storage and it is still fast enough to see the video of for example but if you are doing video editing I would try not to edit videos from the optical drive Bay. Move them to the fastest reader first.

  • Qosmio X 500 - 10W - can I replace the HARD drive with another?

    Hello

    I have a Qosmio X 500 - 10W with two drive HARD Toshiba MK5055GSX 500 GB 5400 RPM 8 MB? SATA II but is one of the hs so I'm wondering if I can be replaced by a more powerful style, drive HARD 750 GB 7200 RPM / min 16 MB Toshiba courses?

    Thank you

    Hey,.

    Your question is a bit hard to understand, but I think you want to replace the HARD drive with another (faster) model, right?

    Well, that s no problem. 7200 RPM hard drives works, they are a little stronger, but they're faster so if you need more performance without problem.
    750 GB or more are also no problem because the SATA interface is not the limited capacity. Theoretically 1 TB or more should also work.

    Anyway, you can buy the 750Go you mentioned that it will work. :)

    Remove the HARD drive cable connector HARD drive. Be sure to not reach

  • Can I replace the hard drive of my Satellite A100?

    I have a Satellite A100 - 033 PSAANE, running Windows Vista Home Basic Edition. The hard drive is 60 g. I save almost all of my data to an external hard drive, but nevertheless hard drive eventually won't have enough space for the growing number of programs that I have installed various temporary files, etc.. For example, I would like to install VirtualBox and run XP (Ido have a copy), and Linux and perhaps a few other systems operating within it, but that is likely to consume more of hard drive space I have available.

    Anyone know if it is possible to get out of my existing hard drive and replace it with another of higher capacity? Is this possible?

    I need to reinstall Vista on the new disc, from the emergency disk that came with the PC. I don't mind this, but will be Windows Vista "recognized" when I try to install the new hard disk?

    Sorry if these questions seem naïve, but I don't know how to put a new hard drive in a laptop computer, or even if it is possible. I bought the Toshiba in February 2007, which was just after Vista had been released. I had not given the choice of XP: Vista was the only Toshiba operating system provide at this time. I was assured that a 60G hard drive would be perfect for Vista, but I have to tell you that, in my opinion, that I was wrongly advised, and that Toshiba should never have released a 60G machine for use with Vista. Where my wish to have a hard drive with a larger capacity.

    Yes, you can install a larger capacity HARD drive. In my view, the A100 can take any size SATA 2.5 "HDD, so you should be able to successfully install a 250 GB or 320 GB.

    In terms of Windows, you can reinstall using the Toshiba Recovery disk came with the laptop.

    Directions for use:

    Remove the screws from the cover of the HARD drive based on the laptop to access the HARD disk.
    Pull the HARD drive out
    Transfer media cradle of HARD drive to the new HARD disk
    Slide in the new HARD drive and screw the cover of the HARD drive.
    Turn on the laptop and press F12 to access the start menu.
    Insert your recovery disk and choose CD icon to boot from it.
    Follow the prompts to install Windows.
    Connect your original HDD to the A100 using a USB adapter to restore your files/documents.

    PS. Don't forget to back up your important files regularly. HARD drives can fail at any time, since they have delicate moving parts, even when new.

    I can start the installation and the drive is missing, only the CD/DVD is here.

    I need to pull the HDD and backup all the data on it and replace it.

    I replaced several HARD drives in all-in-one but have always found some instructions.

    Someone help?

    Pete

    before changing the HARD drive, I would try another SATA cable, is the part number: 50.U86D5.002

    to open the back of your ZC, you must open the 2 feet at the bottom of the back cover and unscrew the 2 screws; with a PIN that you had to push into the small hole in the DVD player until he slip; Then, you can lift the back cover.

  • Can I replace the HARD drive in my Satellite C70D-B-model 00P with a SSD?

    Hello

    My question is in the subject line. If someone has done this, I'd appreciate some advice.

    regards Stuart

    In general, Yes, you do, but the problem is that your model of laptop doesn't have any coverage of HARD drive in the lower corner.
    To have full access to the HARD disk inside the protection must be removed completely, but it should be done by the only authorized service.

    Of course, you can try to do it alone but I'm afraid, you may lose the guarantee of m.
    If possible, contact the nearest service provider for Toshiba in your country, explain the situation and ask for help.

    TKS.

    Hello

    As far as I know the HARD drive is placed on the right side of the laptop.
    I think it's on the same side where the reader is placed.

    1. turn the computer.
    2. remove the screw of the cover of the HDD location and remove the cover.
    3. remove the screws fixing the HARD drive ASSY.
    4. hold the HARD drive door handle and remove the drive HARD ASSY.
    5. remove the screws that attach the HARD drive.
    6 detach the HARD drive from the HARD drive support.

    That's all

  • How can I reinstall windows after replacing the hard drive? Laptop did not come with a disc.

    My internal hard drive went bad in my laptop, easy to replace and relatively inexpensive. However, the laptop came not with the windows disk. So, how can I reinstall windows once I replaced the hard drive?

    Basically, you have two choices. You can communicate with the person who made the computer and see if they can provide either a set of Windows Vista restore disks (I would assume) or an installation for Windows Vista (probably OEM) DVD. If the second choice, determine if you will need to download device drivers or software packages from their web site. OR, you can purchase the operating system of your choice, retail. The wisdom is that, if this is your choice, you see if you will need the device drivers and get those of the web site of the manufacturer.

    Once you have the disks, install in the usual way.

    I had pre installed windows vista on my laptop. now, I replaced the hard drive. so, can we recover only windows giving you the serial number? I have sony laptop.

    How to get Vista recovery Media and/or to use the Vista recovery Partition on your computer.

    There is no Vista free download legal available.

    http://eSupport.Sony.com/

    Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

    Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
    A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
    The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.
    There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
    If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
  • I replaced the hard drive and can't find my distro dvd disc. Help, please!
    Original title: Lost my win7 pro distrib
    Hello!
    I have a Lenovo T440s, I replace the hard drive and can't find my distro dvd disc. On the back side are those:
    WINDOWS 7 PRO OA FOR LENOVO
    * key series *.
    * numbers of many * X 1881991
    Where can I find the version of windows exactly for my laptop?
    Hello
    The only legal Windows 7 download available is now Microsoft, as Microsoft has stopped DigitalRiver Windows 7 ISO downloads.
    http://www.Microsoft.com/en-us/software-recovery
    But Microsoft only provides these downloads for Windows 7 keys to selling product at retail, not preinstalled OEM product keys (Dell, HP, etc.).
    If you have a Windows 7 license detail and are having trouble at the above Web site, contact Microsoft using the Support option.
    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
    If you have a preinstalled OEM license (Lenovo, Dell, HP, etc.), contact Lenovo at the order of recovery media that they need to provide for a fee.
    Or you can also borrow the same exact retail edition DVD of Windows 7 and use your product key to reinstall.
    See you soon.
  • How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive?
    How can I reinstall windows 7 after replacing the hard drive? do I have to call microsoft or I can retrieve it somehow to the old hard drive?
    Well, that certainly puts a different point of view on this subject.
    There are data recovery services that can recover data from disks that have suffered from various types of failures. However, they are quite expensive. Unless the data is particularly useful, it is generally not useful.
    If your Windows 7 is an OEM version, installed on the computer when you bought it, the manufacturer could have a recovery disk on sale. If it was a retail copy and you always have the appropriate product/serial number, you can get a DVD of their team of parts replacement.
  • Replaced the HARD drive, but can not reinstall the operating system
    Evening,
    I replaced the HARD drive on my laptop and used the sony recovery media kit, but the error message "can not configure windows to run on this hardware of computers.
    The HARD drive is a Toshiba of the same style and size. Sony sent me two sets of disks, I replaced the HARD drive twice still have exactly the same problem.
    Any ideas before using it as a target would be useful.
    Thank you
    C
    It is possible that the new hard drive, you bought are 4 k sectors and not 512 KB, which is necessary to make it work properly.  If you have a practical clean Windows installation disc that give a try and see if you encounter the same error...
