  I recently bought a new HP laptop and struggled to establish a connection with my photosmart printer HP c7100. I get error messages about the compatibility with the XP software on my laptop. My guess is that I need to update the drivers but cannot say with certainty. Looking on the Hp website for driver downloads, I see that for slightly different patterns of what I have (IE 7130, etc.), but not for the c7100 model specifically. I have 2 part question: #1. Are the drivers on these other fairly similar models that I can replace (or are there infact of the specific drivers for c7100 model I simply) and #2. What exact drivers I need to download. Is - this one file or several different. Please notice that I don't want to mess too much with my new laptop. I would try to call HP, but it seems that when I do, I wind up being left on hold or speaking to someone in a foreign country which I don't understand.

  C7100 is a series of Photosmart printers. The variants that you see, like C7150 and C7180 are the names of the actual models. All printers in the same series use the same drivers. So, you can choose one of them.

  Error 1068 when you try to start a Windows Service indicates a problem with dependencies. The instructions below will explain how to locate dependencies and make sure they are enabled. Depending on your version of windows, you may need less listed dependencies. Let me know if you have other problems.

  Restart the services of dependencies:
  1. Click Start, in the search box type "services" without the quotes.
  2. scroll down until you see Windows Image Acquisition (WIA).
  3. double click on it and go to the Dependencies tab.
  4-2 services must be listed.
  5. close this window and look for the remote procedure call (RPC).
  6. make sure it's on manual or if it is enabled automatically, just leave it. Make sure the service is started.
  7. go to hardware detection kernel and Double click.
  8. set the Startup Type to manual and click on apply.
  9. you should be able to start the service by pressing Start.
  10 now, you are done and the Twain Manager must work and gives you is not a mistake.
   
  Check the dependencies or sous-dependances:
   
  Right-click WIA (Windows Image Acquisition) by selecting the first properties, and then click the Dependencies tab. It should list: remote procedure call and detection material core

  I bought a new MacBook Pro for my wife, and we tried to connect its Photosmart printer.  I show very well in the printer & fax window, but with Gutenprint 5.2.3 as driver v.  When I try to print to it, I have 1-2 lines of text in the left corner of the page and nothing else.  The printer indicates that it has completed the work, but the output is never complete.  When I tried to print a page of 3 small pictures, the first two printer, very slightly and have been duplicated.  The 3rd, which was under the first 2 ever printed.  Still, I do not receive an error indication.  Any thoughts?

  Well first head in "System Preferences" > "printers & scanners" do a right-click on one of the printers and choose "reset printing system" in order to eliminate anything that might contradict the newer version than we are going to download.
  Then download this driver package (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL907?viewlocale=en_US)
  Once it's finished downloading.
  1. reboot your computer
  2. start the installation.
  3. restart the computer.
  After that he will turn on try and add the printer again. (Note: make sure that the driver you are adding is not AirPrint)

  I went to another part of this forum and found the answer!

  In my original installation he missed a static DNS parameter. I had to go on my laptop and discovered my printer through its IP address and made the changes (DNS 8.8.8.8 perferred: alternate 8.8.4.4 and she finally connected to the web services so I could complete the whole upward.)
