Can I sell my copy of Windows Vista retail?

Hi, I have a full commercial copy of Windows Vista.  Having just upgraded to Windows 7 I would like to sell my copy of Vista.

My installation of Vista was activated several times (I tend to reinstall my OS frequently enough).  It is no longer installed on any machine anywhere.

What should I take special measures (e.g. to inform Microsoft) until I sell on my copy of Vista?  Or I'm ok just sell what with drive, box, manual, and CD key?

Hi Kaporikawn,

Thanks for posting. If you preferred the full versions of these two media you can sell the license to someone else. They call activation to finish it however.

I hope this helps!

Where is Snipping Tool? If deleted accidentally, how can I get a copy for Windows Vista?

    Hello Bob w. NY

Click on the Start button and type capture in the search box menu star. The cutting tool application should appear at the top of the search results.

As the cutting tool is an integral part of Windows, you might have to reinstall windows to return to the tool. Assuming, of course, you had accidentally deleted.

  • Can I sell my copy of Windows 7 (upgrade)?

My computer came with Vista, so I bought an upgrade to Windows 7. This is a copy of purchased retail Newegg. But my computer is completely dead, is there a way I can return or cancel my license so I can sell my copy of the upgrade on Ebay or elsewhere?

My new computer is already comes with Windows 7 install, so I don't really need the disks to upgrade.

    How can I do? How?

Edit: For the record, I can't access the old computer, it is quite dead.

The thing is that I am using the new version for about a year (it has been validated), but my computer is dead and it's not as if I can return the license or delete from my hard drive. I want to know that if I sell it, the buyer will be able to post because I'm not on the upgrade and I have no use for him.

In fact a retail upgrade license can be transferred to another computer so so it can be sold and activated on another computer, as long as there is a qualification of operating system already installed and activated legally on the new computer.  Detail improvements are exactly that and are not OEM or at all time options that are restricted are related in that they are installed on the original computer.

I bought asus n55sf notebook, The OEM OS (Windows 7 Home Premium) it comes preinstalled without any image or cd and I want to ask to download an original copy of Windows 7 Home Premium from microsoft using the key provided with the laptop

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

Your Manufacturer(not the seller) computer should send you a set of recovery disc Vista for a small fee of $.
    Contact them and ask them.

Otherwise, you will need to borrow a good DVD (not Dell, HP, etc.) Vista
There is no download legal free vista.

A good MS vista DVD contains all versions of vista.

This is your product key that determines which version is installed.

There are 2 disks of vista: one for 32-bit and one for 64-bit.
Yours would be a 32-bit operating system.

    Hello

There's a photo guide based on the recovery of your model here...

    http://www.Sony-Asia.com/support/tutorial/381906/product/VGN-fz18g

If you cannot use this method because what did your friend, your options are...

    • Pay Sony for media recovery
    • A base Windows installation followed by installing specific Sony drivers and software from their Web site.

If you walk down the road of the latter, I would say that, if possible, before you begin reinstalling Windows you download at least the Ethernet drivers and wireless and save in, for example, a USB key. Start your drivers to search for them (and other) here...

    http://www.Sony-Asia.com/support/product/VGN-fz18g/FAQ

.. everything will be difficult to download if drivers that allow access to the internet are not native to a new installation of Windows.

Your principled stand against Sony charges for media recovery is, in my opinion, wrong. As I already said twice...

If Sony did not provide recovery media that they have provided the means to create them

If you lost or do not burn them and messed up your recovery partition, it's not for lack of Sony.

My serious recommendation is to accept a fee of Sony for the recovery media. It will make life much simpler for you. For this reason alone, it is probably useful tax, especially considering that you're obviously not a user advanced. Otherwise, why ask the help of a friend and ask for help on this forum?

I suspect that the links I've seen on this website are actually only valid for Windows 7 media images. If you do not buy the recovery media and go with an iso image download Vista Home Premium, I have to warn about the following...

    • The legality of this is, at best, questionable
    • If it's not genuine Microsoft media you might end by in an even bigger mess (if it works at all)

If your Vista came pre-installed in your old PC, then this is an OEM license that cannot be transferred to your new PC.

  • Can I get a new copy of Windows Vista?

    Hello

I'm fixing a PC from one of my friends, unfortunately it has formatted the C drive (I guess he thought it was a good idea?). Vista Media recovery obtaining and/or using the Vista recovery on your computer Partition to factory settings .

There is no Vista free download legal available.

Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.

Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.

In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.

See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.

Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...

Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.

Also ask them if it is possible to do the recovery disk/s for the recovery Partition in case of a system Crash or hard drive failure.

They will tell you how to do this.

Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.

Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.

There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.

If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu

You have installed?  Which means that you went down and bought Windows XP all by himself in a retail establishment and it is a retail license, not a cheaper OEM license?

I asked a tech savvy friends to help me buy. He brought me a real CD, a product with COA and a manual Win XP key (they came sealed) and reception. It cost me about $160 (actually 7800 Indian rupees). I still have the COA product key, hologrammed CD sticker.

The CoA sticker wasn't on the hard plastic case?  Sounds like an OEM version - which once installed is "linked" to this computer/motherboard.
