Can I transfer ownership of a copy of Windows 7 retail

I use is no longer my drive windows Ultimate 7, but I have an old aunt with a totally messed up Vista system she bought this desperately needs to be totally erased.  If I will not use my 7 disc can I use it to remake his system or there will be a problem with activation?  If she had the abilty to buy is one thing but she can't and I need to know when I leave a place that I know what is on the system and can monitor it so that it no longer has one system full of spyware, Trojans, porn and other... I have built and repaired many systems in my time, but I have NEVER seen anything as bad as this.

Yes, as long as deletion of the current system its activated or didn't is more in use you can transfer into your system of aunts. Windows 7 and Vista using the same system requirements, so it will work.

You may need to reactivate by phone:

(6) explain your problem clearly to the support person.

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
Click Install now
Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

How can I transfer music from my iPod to Windows Media Player?

WMP is not built-in iPod support, so you will need to use another media player, such as iTunes or Winamp, to get the music from the iPod to the PC (I don't know if iTunes will allow you to do, but Winamp will certainly be).

If you then copy the music files to your personal music collection, they appear automatically in the WMP library.

I use Dreamweaver CS5 on a Windows 7 laptop.  I would like to change for Dreamweaver CS6 on my Mac running Yosemite.  Can I transfer my CS5 files from Windows to Mac computer and CS6 will be able to work with these files on the Mac?  I do not need or want for a subscription account.  Just the standalone program for occasional tweeks to my web site.  to www.longwayhome.com.

It's a simple web site relatively requiring only simple assembly from time to time.

    Ed Dover

Yes, your files in CS5 are just .php, .html, .css and .js files, there is nothing that makes them "CS5 versions" of these types of files.

You can do it two different ways, but the easiest would be to copy the folder used as the root directory (and all of its contents) from one machine to another, and then on the new machine, simply set up a new site definition using this newly copied as the local root folder.

If you wish, you can export your site (FTP and whatnot) settings on the old machine...

Access the Site > Manage Site > site of your choice-click > Export

Copy the .ste file as well as the local root folder for the new machine

On the new computer, go to Site > Manage Sites > import in the .ste

Create a link to this new site in the newly copied folder

Can move you to a new Windows 7 computer

If it's a full license or upgrade retail - Yes. You can move it to another computer as long as it is installed on a single computer at a time (and if it's a Windows 7 Upgrade version the new computer must have its own qualification license XP/Vista/7). The previous installation of Windows 7 on the old computer must be formatted or deleted. You will have to perhaps call Microsoft and explain what happened to complete activation. Turning it on the second computer will automatically be in effect 'disable' the license for the first computer. The key works with 32 and 64 bit, but can only be installed at a time.

If it's an OEM license - don't. OEM licenses, including Windows preinstalled on a computer before purchase and Windows purchased separately, are related to the first computer, they are installed on and cannot be transferred to another computer. To install Windows on another computer, you will need to buy another copy.

  • How can I transfer my data to my computer Windows XP on a new computer?

    in the name of God

I have windows xp sp3 retail box.

I bought the new pc and I want to transfer my windows of my old pc again.

How can I do it without problem?

Windows XP cannot be transferred to a new computer that has significantly different material compared to the old computer.  It can only be installed correctly from scratch as a "clean install", assuming that the new computer has hardware supported by the older Windows XP operating system.

  • Can I sell my copy of Windows Vista retail?

Hi, I have a full commercial copy of Windows Vista.  Having just upgraded to Windows 7 I would like to sell my copy of Vista.

My installation of Vista was activated several times (I tend to reinstall my OS frequently enough).  It is no longer installed on any machine anywhere.

What should I take special measures (e.g. to inform Microsoft) until I sell on my copy of Vista?  Or I'm ok just sell what with drive, box, manual, and CD key?

    Hi Kaporikawn,

Thanks for posting. If you preferred the full versions of these two media you can sell the license to someone else. They call activation to finish it however.

    I hope this helps!

  • Can I install a copy of Windows 7 retail and use the OEM key that came with my system to activate it?

    Help me asus laptop n55sf
I bought asus n55sf notebook, The OEM OS (Windows 7 Home Premium) it comes preinstalled without any image or cd and I want to ask to download an original copy of Windows 7 Home Premium from microsoft using the key provided with the laptop

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

  • How can I not have a genuine copy of windows 7 when I installed it on an official record?

I installed windows 7 on my computer a while ago and it was working fine. Until today, when I turned on my computer and a message popped up saying that I don't have a copy genuine windows 7. Even if I had the drive official windows 7 when I bought my desktop computer. Nothing else was wrong with my computer until now and my anti-virus has not picked up something, so the problem is only with windows 7.

If anyone can help it would be appreciated.

It seems more than one fault on behalf of windows that it wasn't something accompanying advising me of what I could / could not do with the disc.

It is in the end user license agreement you accepted when you installed.
I suspect that you used a Dell OEM recovery disk to install. This drive works only on dell computers that he intended. It will not work on a Toshiba.
Your bios has a marker for windows 7. Windows has not released to manufacturing until end of July 2009. The only way the bios of your computer may have a windows 7 marker is programmatically loading of pirates.
Except for the family pack, it is licensed per computer.
  • How can I turn off activate a copy of Windows 7?

I would turn off a copy of Windows 7. One of my laptops was stolen, but I still have the discs, I would like to sell. Stolen system was 32-bit and all my other computers are 64-bit, so the disc is of no use more for me.

Before I sell it, I would like to disable the copy so that there is no running around for the new owner.

I see lots of advice here on the process of activation, but nothing about disabling a copy. It seems I have the phone activation Support Center, but their number does not seem to be available when you use a copy of Windows that is not yet activated. How can I find this phone number if my other computers all have active copies of Windows? (IE. I can't use slui.exe solution, for example, because it tells me that my copy is active and real).
    Any ideas?
    Thank you!

There is no way to disable remote. The best you can do is explain to the buyer that he was already in use and they should use for phone activation reactivate. When it is re-enabled, it will automatically deactivate the other installation. Unfortunately, if the person who stole it retrieves the key, they can easily reactivate too.

  • Can I put a non-genuine copy of windows to a genuine copy of Windows 8 Pro?

Now before anyone starts to judge I want to give some context as to what happened.

I bought the upgrade Windows 8 Pro pack which was a student offered to host my new hybrid hard drive. I installed on my previous Vista hard drive and I noticed that I was required to install the pack to upgrade the disk with a previous version of Windows. Therefore, I decided install Windows 8 Pro Vista hard disk and clone new hard disk.
The cloning went perfectly. However, when I entered the hard drive containing the Windows 8 Pro clone, it did not allow my turn and in Device Manager it does appear that the system. There is also a Build number located at the bottom right of my desktop screen. Think I should reinstall windows from scratch, I proceed to the real system command (the one containing Vista previously which is now upgraded to Windows 8 Pro) and decided to reinstall windows in the control panel and wipe all readers.
I quickly realized that this is a mistake, because when I boot into the previously-Vista drive, reinstalling Windows 8 became a trial version instead (with XXXX to build lower-right again). In regards to the cloned drive, the error starting screen (that require you to reinstall windows because of lack of boot configurations).
I lost the disc Vista it long time ago and I don't have the box of windows with me more. I copy down the so-called activation key but it's one with xxxxx-OEM-xxxx. Before this script together, under my computer properties, the product key seems to be forever in a State of "2 days before automatic activation" and when I click on it, he said: I'm unable to activate this product key.
So that being said, I was wondering if I could just download and run a picture of a non-genuine copy of Windows in order to start a new installation (ie. choose with windows installation disk and reformat the drive containing the windows build demo).
    Thank you.

I just decided to hell with it and contacted Microsoft technical support for assistance.

Managed to activate my windows and things work fine now.
Thanks for the comments without worrying about all of you who responded and sorry for taking your time.

  • Can I transfer my license to upgrade to Windows 7 on a new computer? The system on which it is has reached the end of his life.

At the launch of Windows 7 I bought one a version upgrade to upgrade XP on my Dell PC to W7 professional.  This PC has reached the end of its useful life, and I intend to give it up (literally).  I would like to transfer the license to upgrade for my Dell Netbook that W7 Starter Edition is installed.  Can I do this?

    Graham.

Thank you very much, this is very useful.  Can I just confirm what constitutes an acceptable method of removing of Dell PC?  I have to do something to turn off allow it on the Dell PC before removing it?  I can't uninstall it (because the update of XP should be a clean install) so my options are delete and format the hard drive (my supported option, can I use it for storage) or go back to XP using an Acronis Disk image that I kept from the time of the upgrade.  Whatever it is, I imagine that Microsoft have to take my word that I removed?

    Graham.

Yes, as long as its not in use on the computer. I would restore the Acronis Disk image that had saved you.
