  You already have the best processor that can fit on your motherboard which is an AMD version. Theoretically, you can go with a card mother Intel and processor, but that would cost a lot of money (more than a new laptop) and give only slightly better graphics. not yet for the games. To be explicit, the graphics 'card' are not a card, but a single chip directly soldered on the motherboard and cannot be removed, replaced, improved or anything of the sort.

  The slightly good news is that you can install up to 8 GB of memory... is the DDR3-1333 SO-DIMM. That will boost the overall performance, but still not make a game by a long shot machine.

  Upgrading RAM is possible but the graphics card is unable to be updated!

  If you want to upgrade the memory you could update to 1536 MB max.
  The A60 supports 512MB internal memory and it is so that one memory slot where the extra RAM module can be inserted.

  I can't comment directly on your device (VPCEA16FG) because this isn't an American model, but it is very similar to the series of VPCEA2xx which, according to the spec, can take up to 8 GB ram (DDR3/1 066 MHz).  The hard drive is a SATA probably accommodating a 1 TB drive, but our repair manuals has the largest size being 640GO for this series...

  I'm a complete newbie to this, and being a wrinkled, according to my grandchildren I wouldn't bother! Ive never done anything like this before, it's to ask, I mean, even less to try to improve my laptop.

  Anyway, having just started University I find my laptop, like me, is a little too long in the tooth to work properly!

  So, not being able to go out and buy a new laptop decided whether my only existing can be adjusted (I think the term I use is upgraded).

  He currently works on Win XP and Ive been told to dive into and out of the College Web site, I MUST have a minimum of Win 7. This is why I need to know: -.

  (1) IF my laptop computer motherboard is capable of running Win 7?

  (2) if not, can I replace the card mother towards something that's going to Win 7 or younger AND for not a huge sum of money?

  (3) I am also aware that my laptop will have more memory, a minimum of 2 GB and now I have only 1, or to be more precise, it indicates "980 MHz, 0.99 GB of RAM. So, the motherboard, I have more memory accepts even if it runs on Win 7?

  To be honest, I am lost and don't know who I should looking for first, extra memory, or know if the existing motherboard will accept and run Win 7

  Yes, all that being said, is there anyone out there who is willing to help and advise an old wrinkled who desperately wants to get on with my college courses, BUT requires the use of a reliable laptop.   Yes I saw also that the Starter Edition is available with new machines, or for the people who built them BUT, I thought you should know something different and I kept a version - source didn't happen tho.

  If your computer has a PCI or AGP slot, you could install a discrete video card to satisfy the minimum graphics requirements for WIndows 7.

  If you see the maintenance and maintenance guide it will list of recommended replacements.  The remove section will list all the individual pieces that are replaceable by the customer.
