HP envy 15 key 'fn' 1066NR does not

I bought a referbished envy 15 1066NR delivered without an operating system. I installed Windows 7 and noticed that the 'fn' key did not work. I thought it was a driver problem, but now I have downloaded and installed all the drivers I can think.

In the last few days that I have upgraded to Windows 8 and after many hours of work with video drivers, finally got the system is stable. All the old drivers I had installed Windows 7 are compatible and since it was an upgrade, settled automatically in Windows 8. I always have problems with the "fn".

That's when my friend 'Google' has been used. I found that, in the bios settings, there is a way to activate the default fn keys (pressing the f11 key is f11 but mute). This setting has been activated (f11 = mute) and I turned it off (f11 = f11) but now the fn key still does not work.

I know that the "f1 - f12" keys work with their assigned functions because when the above bios setting has been activated, I was able to use them, but not my f1-12 keys.

I would like to activate my fn button. I think that it needs active and should be trivial, but I don't see how.

Please help and thank you in advance,

-bscholt22

OK, so it sounds like the Fn key does nothing at all - just wanted to confirm that the toggling this setting did not produce a different result.

So, it looks that the Fn did not work right out of the box, this exact key? In this case, if you bought it refurbished at HP, always be guaranteed on this subject and could get a repair - maybe it's that the keyboard is physically not working properly. If you bought the device, refurb, please contact them and see if they will honor any kind of warranty.

  • HP Envy 23: HDMI in button does not work in Windows 10

After the upgrade to Windows 10, the button used to display HDMI no longer works on my HP Envy 23

I had this same problem, except on the 27xt, which is the version 27 "the envy of HP TouchSmart. It is same as the 23 '' only bigger. I called HP who told me to call Microsoft, which, after an hour of Remote Desktop new installation graphic drivers and who does not, told me to call HP.

So, I googled the problem and found this thread on this forum and I am so glad that I did. Hpuser30 is quite right, except that I found a method even easier for fixing.

I went to my local BestBuy store which sells version 23 "and I plugged a flash drive, I brought home, in the USB 3.0 port on the side of the screen. Then I went on the c:\ drive and found their SWSETUP folder, and I "copied" the entire folder on my flash drive. Their machine works perfectly in Windows 10, so I felt confident that this could work. I went home and opened the SWSETUP folder on my computer and I tried MyHPDisplayOSD and I found the folder named the same thing. Inside this folder is a file called HP_My_Display_2.08.020_Setup.exe.

I tried to launch the file but it said I couldn't, because I already had a newer version. That was the problem in the first place. Microsoft or HP had updated the driver to one that is no longer recognize the HDMI port or button.

And I went to control panel configuration then programs and I uninstalled my HP device, requiring a reboot. Then I installed the Setup file on the Flash drive, I got the computer to BeatBuy. I didn't even have to reboot. I just pressed the button HDMI IN and it worked perfectly, the way it is supposed to.

The version store is 23 "and mine is a 27". The store had 10 Windows Home and I have Windows 10 Pro, but the HP_My_Display_2.08.020_Setup.exe works on both.

So, it isn't the graphics driver and is not the button or port, is this HP My Display driver. The solution is really as simple as that. Now, I have to see if Microsoft or HP update again and it mess... Once again. If they do, at least I know how to fix it.

  • Bottom line keys Lenovo T430 does not

    Hello

I have Lenovo laptop, T430, I cleaned it and closed the lid, so he went to the sleepmode, when I turned on the bottom row keys were not work - including the one above the bottom line that starts with z, also enter key.

I used the same solution that I use to clean the screen, it should be relatively safe more T430 must be resistant to spills.

I removed the keyboard and checked the cable and the connection to the motherboard, all was well but its still does not. However when im on the login screen, it shows as key Z, which shouldn't work, he is constantly depressed and typed my password field.

Im running win 10 and have not had any problems.

So that leaves me the possibility that mobo is faulty, the keyboard is defective or software partners. A few months ago dissipated my warranty if im trying to figure out until I'm sending for the technicians they will charge me if I do.

    No doubt the keyboard

  • HP envy 15-j067cl Simple Pass does not work

Just bought Envy 15-j067cl yesterday with the fingerprint reader, which I've never used it before.  I did all the updates of Windows 8 and then upgraded to level to Windows 8.1.  I uninstalled Norton, using the removal tool, because I have a current subscription for other security software.  I tried to find a way to implement the Simple collar, which is what I understand how to set it to use my fingerprints.  I was unable to put in place.  I checked for Validity Sensor Device Manager and saw the yellow exclamation with this message:

"Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) "

I checked this site, saw a suggestion for drivers of HP recovery, so I did it and now the validity sensor does not show in the Device Manager.  It shows only as "unknown device - another device."  How can I fix it?

    Hello

First, if you haven't already done so, install the driver from Chipset 8.1 on the following link.

    Chipset Driver - Windows 8.1

When this has completed, restart the laptop.

Then see if you can install the following Validity Sensor driver.

  • HP envy 17 J160NR: hp envy 17 J160NR mute button does not turn on

I have a 17-inch hp envy laptop my work button mute it just used to light up orange when cut more I've had this laptop for a year. It was working fine yesterday but when I went to bed last night hp was an update of copying files and other stuff for this, but when I woke up this morning the button mute wouldn't lite upward when you press. and on my laptop the mute button is f6 and the keyboard is backlit. can anyone please help me out and tell me how to solve this problem? It's really annoying, I need help badly please. It is a portable jump movement.

    Hello

The driving mute functionality is provided by the audio software package, so most likely, Windows has updated this to a version that does not have this feature.

    Try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    http://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

When finished, turn off your WiFi card (or if wired, just unplug the router/access point).

Then open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver.

    When finished, restart the laptop.

Let Windows load fully, then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  When this has completed, restart the computer again.

If your mute led functions now correctly, turn on your wireless adapter (or re - connect the access point / router) and use the utility on the following link to prevent Windows 10 automatically update the IDT audio driver again.

    Hello

Maybe it's a hardware problem, but it is always worth trying the following.

Shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Tap away at the button esc you start the laptop to see if it will launch the Start Menu.  If this is the case, select f10 to open the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the default values (sometimes it's f9, but the menu below indicates the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press ENTER.  Press f10 to save the setting and still use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and press on enter.

  • HP Pavilion F6 / Mute key Light-Now does not?

    Hello

A little over a week ago, I went out and bought a HP Pavilion 15 laptop-e092ea.

It's a brilliant machine and I'm really happy with it, but there is just one small thing that has popped up.

I'm sure many of you know, Pavilion series laptops have a mute very practice that serves to the F6 key. This key is a small LED that lights up when you press on to show that the computer is cut.  Until yesterday that the light was working fine until something came on the screen mentioning an update of the BIOS. I went ahead with the update and everything seemed fine. I then discovered that the LED was not lit when I used the key to turn off the computer.

I tried to reinstall the audio drivers and restart the computer several times after reading some information on the forums, but nothing works. The key still works perfectly, but given that the computer is fairly new, I just fix the problem. I would take it to a repair place, but it is too small and the pricing is not fair in the slightest.

The lights of the Caps Lock, button / stop and led for Mode without wire/flight work, it's just that touch Mute, that does not illuminate. As I said, this is a minor thing but I would be nice just to have working again.

I am running Windows 8.1 if it's of any help.

Anyone know how I can fix this problem? The update of the BIOS could affect it at all?

Thanks to all those who can help you.

    Thanks for your reply.

In fact, I managed to get the light works again after reinstallation of an audio driver using HP Recovery Manager.

I tried to reinstall the driver using the Windows Device Manager, but it had not worked.

As soon as I used the Recovery Manager when amber was light once more.

    Thanks for your help.

  • Key wireless button does not

I have a problem with the wireless button key. Does not. Is it possible to switch this button? Anti-piracy

    Hi Mark,

Please contact technical support group of the manufacturer of your computer and/or forum with the specific brand, model and serial number or service of your computer code (phone, chat, email, articles, knowledge bases, guides the user manuals, forums, troubleshooting guidelines,...).

It would have really helped to know the manufacturer, brand or specific model (not only the family of models but the exact model) of the computer that you're talking about (as well as the operating system.  Without that, I can only provide the following search options which are certainly generic but can help or you can modify as appropriate to better target your situation (including the specific computer model or something else):

    http://www.Bing.com/search?q=Wireless+Button+not+Working&QS=n&Form=QBRE&PQ=Wireless+Button+not+Working&SC=5-27&SP=-1&SK=

    http://www.bing.com/search?q=how+to+enable+wireless+button&form=O1FD2

    http://www.Bing.com/search?q=How+to+Bypass+Wireless+Button&QS=n&Form=QBRE&PQ=How+to+Bypass+Wireless+Button&SC=0-29&SP=-1&SK=

Another option would be to check that the wireless works for other devices (the possibility that the problem is the router rather than on the computer) or with the laptop (so) at a kiosk computer to see if you can connect (which suggests a problem with the router or the configuration of your network as opposed to the computer or the button).

You can also try to set up a new wireless connection on the computer and see if it works better.

The out rule, I would update the networking and device manufacturer keyboard drivers to see if that solves the problem (and it may not hurt to get the updates anyway).

I've never used a computer with a key/button, so I don't know where to look.  Instinctively, I would try to control panel / Device Manager to see if there are any problems detected it (red circles, triangles yellow, white points mark) and see if you can find the associated devices and confirm that they say they work very well without any problem, then check the network configuration and control center for options.

    I hope this helps.

    Good luck!

I try to search in google on how to configure the multimedia keys LED... He told me to press the FN key... I tried to click FN... But nothing seems to happen... I use toshiba satellite A300...

    Hello

    Did you change your computer?

    (a) turn on your Toshiba Satellite laptop.

    (b) press the "Fn" key on your laptop keyboard, which should set up a line of icons at the top of your screen.

    (c) use the arrow of your keyboard and the 'Enter' keys or your touchpad to select the icon that has a silhouette of a person inside.

    (d) select the icon "settings". Although it is not labeled 'Settings' by name, it will be the icon at the far right of the screen that looks like an audio equalizer, four columns with sliders.

    (e) use the touchpad of your laptop Toshiba Satellite to select the list for the media playback button that you want to reassign.

    (f) label your media new button function by typing a descriptive word or phrase in the box "Description." Then, copy the location (see 'tips') of the program you want the media button to open the box of "path of the target.

    (g) press 'Save' to configure this media button based on your new settings

I suggest you contact the computer manufacturing and check.
