Can I use product key OEM Portege R400 - S4832 to the re-installation of Vista

If I don't have my restore DVD came with my laptop Portege R400-S4832 I use an other users Vista OS DVD to install Vista using the product key that came on the bottom of my Portege?

Otherwise, it's a hassle to ask a Toshiba Recovery DVD?

Thank you.

Well, what to say to my knowledge it of not possible to activate the other version of Vista with OEM from Toshiba key.
This key is assigned to this OEM version and it should not work with another Vista CD/DVD.

However, I found this thread another in this forum about Vista installation and activation and the last user potatohead reported that he was able to activate the OEM of Vista version with the phone;

http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=28340&TSTART=0

It's very interesting but for me really amazing. In any case, it s worth a try.
If you get more information from Microsoft, please post it here.

You would be really appreciated your comments.

Good bye

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

  • What happens if I install a new windows on a computer product key OEM windows laptop?

I bought a laptop in 2009 with Windows Vista Home Basic OEM on it (I still have the sticker of the portable product key).

This year, I bought a larger capacity HARD drive and installed on my laptop.

I thought it was the perfect time to upgrade to Windows 7, so I bought a DVD of Windows 7 Ultimate.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my HDD new and used the new Windows 7 Ultimate DVD product key.

    My questions are,

What will happen to the product key Windows Vista Home Basic OEM?

If it is replaced with the new product key?

Is the OEM product key became invalid?

Now I use Windows Pro 10, as a free upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate, so...

What my new Windows 10 Pro registered product key?

I know that since windows 8, the product key is installed on the BIOS (am I right?).

    then, how it actually works?

Thank you very much for the reply.

    Kind regards

    Hello

No matter if you did a clean Windows 7 or updated installation to upgrade to windows 7 from Vista, this OEM Vista product key is blocked on this computer and cannot be transferred to another machine.

You can only use this key OEM of Vista to reinstall Vista on this particular machine and start over.

    Licensing rules (my words)

If the computer/laptop comes with the preinstalled Windows operating system (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) or is licensed to OEM System Builders, that the product key that came with the computer/laptop is preinstalled OEM license and is not transferable.

OEM license/product key (systems of operating pre-installed on Dell, HP, etc.) and the license OEM System Builders are related to the first machine it is installed on and dies when machine who dies.

Only retail Operating System license that you buy and install yourself, are allowed to be transferred to another machine.

And retail licenses also can be installed on a machine at one time.

    @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@

Rec would be the free upgrade to 10 7 as Vista never qualified for the free upgrade to 10.

The key/license Windows product to describe the operating system, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, etc. is absorbed by upgrading Windows 10 during the installation process and becomes an integral part of the active Windows 10 final installation.

The license qualifying operating system, either Windows 7 or Windows 8.1, etc. cannot be used anywhere else, or in a dual boot with Windows 10.

But there is no product key for your free upgrade to 10.

Hardware configuration you laptop is stored on Microsoft servers and how your machine will be recognized if you always want to reinstall 10.

    See you soon.

  • Product key OEM Windows Vista Business on Precision 490

Just bought a Dell Precision 490. It comes with 32-bit Windows 7 HP... The product key for Windows 7 is on the case. With this key, there is a Microsoft Windows Vista Business OEM key. My first question is how do I know if it is a key of 32 or 64-bit of Windows Vista? Or can be used for either (it does not specify the key). My second question is how properly to reinstall Windows Vista. I noticed there are a lot of different people who sell different restart/reinstall/repair disk. Thank you.

Windows OEM product keys can be used to install either 32-bit or 64-bit.

You can ask Dell support (if in the United States, and after a "transfer of property") or use a disc from another system that corresponds to the version of that license is for (Home, Ultimate, etc.):

    support.Dell.com/.../backupcd_form

You can use Retail media, then activate by phone from Microsoft (not Dell) using your product key:

    en.Community.Dell.com/.../3317.2-3-Microsoft-Windows-Vista-Official-ISO-Download-Links-Digital-River.aspx

Just boot on the Windows DVD, delete all partitions that are shown to you, then call install... you will have to install drivers after Windows is installed, but you can ask that once Windows is on.

You must also determine if you have a RAID controller that requires special drivers during installation.  The 490 could use a PERC or SAS RAID 5 card.  You can check the box to see where the disks are wired to and/or check during POST to see if you have a CTRL-C or a prompt CTRL-R, while the loading devices.

  • Why say CS5 key-config that I can't use a key (combo) when I can?

I was watching my keyboard shortcuts (not that I can remember who is assigned half!), but looking at the things that I've done more often and I've ever used (and things I really wanted to not use accidentally, as enabling/disabling save transparency assigned next to 'go' key /..) ...

But one thing that I have frequently had access to merge... options so I thought, why not Ctrl-Shift-B?   Small message appears and says that I can not use this key as a shortcut.  No reason given - I tried just Ctl - B, but he was assigned to something else (color balance or such and gave an ominous 'you cannot use _any_other_ key to the color balance'...) (Huh?) ... whatever..., I went back to my 1st choice Ctrl-Shift-B.  "You can not use this key as a shortcut...". Grrr... Well, what happens if I just hit enter?...

Click - it saved.   Save the choice of config... Press Ctrl-Shift-B - Up comes from the merge options.  ?!?!!?

I had never seen such a weird message - several other combos use CTRL - SHIFT - < letter >, so why would he complain of C - S-'B' but more weird... when I just go ahead and "do..., it works?"  Why should I say that I am not allowed to use a combination of keys when I am?   Is there a law that I don't know?

I was wondering what else I said I can't do that I can't do and I was wondering what else isn't really true when he gives guests who seem completely illogical - and who are also "bad"?

'Ctrl Shift B' is automatic color.  Look at your puck history as you try to possibly available shortcuts and see if they do anyting.

  • My product key is not be accepted after you have reinstalled Windows Vista.

Using product keys Vista reinstallation (OEM)

I reinstalled Vista after failing to fix some registry errors. I threw down the front product key I have re-installed, but it's a product key which is not accepted by MSFT.  Instead of 25 numbers as it requires, I wrote a 20 (and part it says OEM).

It's good to upgrade to a version XP OEM Windows Vista and upgrade CD is not a product key. The XP CD has a product key, but of course Vista is not accepting it.  Apparently Vista stops working in 20 days, if I activate it. What is the product code I can use!

    Not worth it!

Obviously the disk did not contain certificates appropriate for the key.

Your SLIC table seems to be the appropriate injector to install a Vista, rather than installing a XP, so a recovery disk Dell to Vista so that the machine can very well work - and is much less expensive than buying a new license.

Your best option, if it comes to having to purchase a new license, is to buy a copy of Windows 7 upgrade, it would be cheaper that a full version of Vista from Dell and would be transferable to another machine if he died. ($120 MS for Home Premium upgrade of XP/Vista). You can check compatibility first, just in case there is a problem - http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

How to recover my product key of windows 8, I installed the windows 10 techniques view without taking backup I need to go back to my windows 8 pls someone help

    Hi Carmen,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community Forum.

I understand that you had not taken any prior backup upgrade to Windows 10 Technical Preview and need product key to retrieve Windows 8.

So, first of all, I suggest you to check the product key in email messages when you purchased the license to the product for Windows 8. Once you get the product key, you can create a Windows 8 ISO and reinstall using this product key. See the following article:

To create installation media Windows 8.1

However, if you had bought the system pre-installed with Windows 8. Then, you may need to contact the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) system for Windows 8 discs to restore the older operating system.

Hope this information is useful. Let us know the results for further assistance, we will be happy to help you.

When you bought the computer, he had the pre-installed Windows 7?
If so, this is a version of OEM license.
Not worth trying all of 3rd party product key finders. They do not work on the OEM version.

You call the computer manufacturer and ask what follows...

    1. a set of recovery disks. Its cost is minimal and money well spent. The game will save your computer if it crashes.
    2. talking to a technician and ask for instructions access your recovery as well as partition to use it to restore your computer.

The 2 methods above does not need to enter the product key.

Note: The methods above will restore your computer to factory State. You will lose all your personal files and programs you had installed. If you still have ways to support those up to a flash drive or an external hard drive, do so now.

  • Product key for Windows 7 loaded on the computer when you purchase

I have a HP desktop computer that came with Windows 7 loaded on this subject.  I'm now trying to upgrade to Windows 10, but he wants a product key I've ever had.  How can I find the product key so that I can upgrade to Windows 10?

IMPORTANT: To upgrade for free, select upgrade this PC now in the tool. One should NOT ask for a product key during the upgrade process. If you create a USB stick and use it to install, be sure to remove the USB key as soon as the installation program starts. If you do not, you may be prompted for a product key. In this case, remove the USB and reboot your PC to continue the installation.
Use the download tool to create ISO support to update your windows.

The media authoring tool can be used to upgrade your current PC to Windows 10 or to create a USB or DVD and install 10 Windows on another PC.

I think that there is a little more for it, but here's a solution that seems to work. After the installation of Roboform 7.1.7, go to: http://www.roboform.com/platforms/browsers/firefox and scroll down to a table listing the three browsers identifying the XPI file to load if it was not loaded automatically. Click the http://www.roboform.com/dist/roboform-firefox-3-4-frozen.xpilink. Firefox will ask you if you want to allow this should be installed. Let him. Finish installation, restart Firefox 4.0b10, and you'll see a Roboform 7.1.7 toolbar works. I did it on two computers, and everything seems to work.
