Hello. How can I watch DVD movies on my new iMac?
Hello.. How can I watch DVD movies on my new iMac?
You need to buy an external DVD drive. Apple made one, or you can buy a third-party DVD player. Amazon has many others and OWC (www.macsales.com) have too many choices.
iMacs have not included DVD players with them for the years also remember, you can only watch regular DVDs. If the movies are Blue Ray, OS X will not support, in other words Blue Ray is not visible unless you buy a Blue Ray software.

Software DVD players require this setting; otherwise, they can take advantage of features of superposition of the video card.
Here's how:
-Right click anywhere on the desktop and select Properties.
-Select the settings tab, and then click the Advanced button.
-Select the performance tab.
-Make sure that the hardware acceleration is set to full.2. make sure that DirectDraw acceleration is turned on in the DirectX utility
-To start the DirectX, you must type the DXDIAG command in the window RUN.
-then select the view tab.

Satellite A105-S2101 - can't watch DVDs with Express Media Player
I have this laptop Satellite A105-S2101, and the LCD breathed on me in two years.
Fortunately, I can still use the VGA and S-video output but it may as well be a desktop PC now. Anyway, I just wanted to add that because of this problem, no longer is I can watch DVDs with Express Media Player because it will not accept VGA or S-video as default is just my broken - up, good for nothing always blurry LCD anyway.
It's only when I'm in Windows mode can I switch to an external monitor. The reason I'm writing is, if it is necessary to add anything to an EMP update - this is the time and it would be something to add. What the devil?
Have you tried another player?
I prefer the VLC media player. He plays the most video and audio files, it s freeware and easy to use. Check it!Have you changed something on your hardware or software configuration before this happened?
Maybe it's time to reinstall the drive Media Express -

Hello
Looks like you might have a faulty drive, because it never worked properly. What happens if
you close all programs, and then insert a blank disc that has ever been written?Used speed, the actual brand of discs, burning and if file Live or mastered all come into play.
You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
correctly.Burning at low speed, or by using the master could help. A CD/DVD cleaner might help.
CD have a tolerance + - and your own writing prepares on the edge outside those tolerances disks.
They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.Several good info here:

Wiping hard drive, lost Dell Home Media, can not watch DVD
I paid a computer tech to fix my laptop froze. He said I had bad sectors on the hard disk. He my data backed up and deleted from my hard drive. It has recharged my data but my Inspiron 6400 came with a disc of reloading. Instead, there was a picture of a disk of reloading giving a Web site to go to if things had to be reloaded. I gave this address to him, but now wonder if he used it or not. I can't figure out how to get Dell Media without paying for it. I loaded the Windows Media Player 11 and InterActual player and I can't watch the DVD of one or the other. I think that I don't have correct display drivers? If anyone can help with this, I would really appreciate it. All I want to do is watch DVD - nothing complicated!
Thank you

Satellite Pro M40: Can't watch DVD->; DVD region code locked
Hello
I know this has been asked before, but there must be a solution...
I have a Toshiba Satellite Pro M40 with a CARPET * a DVD UJ - 841S drive. I used my 5 times to change regions, and now I'm stuck on NTSC. I read on this forum (and others) that it is simply not possible to unlock the region once the 5 times have exhausted.
Is it possible to copy the DVD (film) on my hard drive and watch it then?
There must be a way!Any information would be great, thanks.
See you soon,.
Matt SavageHello
As mentioned it of not possible to unlock the DVD player on a legal way.
Of course, I found many sites that suggest that it of possible to unlock the firmware flash drive.
But believe me; It is not desirable and very risky!
You may damage the disc and then you can not read or burn CD or DVD media!I put t know if it is possible to copy the DVD to the HDD in a simple way. I never did.
But it of possible to reduce the DVD to the smaller size, then copy it to the HARD drive.
For this procedure, I used DVD shrink. You can check. -

How can I add memory to my laptop Pavilion DV4000?
I have a portable Pvilion DV4000 old enough. He got so slow that it is barely usable. When I look at the details of the system it tells me I have .99gb of memory.
I understand that I can have a max of 2 gigabytes. So here are my questions:
How will I know if the two slots are taken now with half gig each? If this is the case, then I would buy two planks of 1 GB. I know that the answer is simple, open it and watch, but I need to know where to look.
How can most of all, I find instructions for the installation of the memory. I did it on my desk several times, but never on a laptop.
Thank you very much
Welcome JB.
Yes, you can switch to 2 GB memory.
http://h10032.www1.HP.com/CTG/manual/c00481822.PDF
The memory is easy to access.
I suggest that do you a disk cleanup, and then defragment disk first.
Let us know if you need more information.
