Can Portege M600 - I put the CPU?

Hi guys,.

My laptop is Portege M600, and the CPU is:

Intel Core 2 Duo T5450 at 1.66 GHZ.

My question is, extensible processor in my laptop? If so what CPU fit my machine?

Thanks in advance.

Hello

Let me give you a piece of advice: before you start a new topic, you should somewhat serach using the search function of the Forum. This question was asked 100 times, I think, or more.

However, Toshiba doesn t CPU update laptops and you will lose the warranty. The motherboard and BIOS are configured for CPU preinstalled and no one is able to tell if it s support another CPU or not.

    Hello!

Theoretically a CPU can be improved but I don't it.

The point is that you will lose the warranty of your laptop and it s not supported by Toshiba. This means that no one will be able to tell if your cell phone will work stable or not. The BIOS is not designed for other processors, and there is a high risk of compatibility problems.

Finally and above all you shouldn't t forget with a CPU upgrade you will notice not all stimulates good performance.

  • Can satellite A350 - I put the CPU to 2.4 or 2.6 Ghz

Hey, I just bought an A350, and I have an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.0 ghz processor, but I want to spend about 2.4 to 2.6 ghz. Here are my questions.

    1. is it possible to do?
    2. it is worth?
    3. I have an Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. It has confused me to I have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.

I have general knowledge on computer, but I'm not an expert. Any help would be appreciated muchly.

    Thank you.

    > 1. Is it possible to do?
Nothing is impossible, but the question is if it s recommended. In my opinion it s undesirable. First the CPU upgrade will void your warranty. Then no one would be able to tell if the laptop would be stable after these updates and if the BIOS support so correctly. There is a high risk of overheating because silt CPU creates more heat dissipation which would lead to a temperature more high
Last but not least you won't see a big performance gain.

    > 2. It is worth?
I think it s not worth. Check point 1.

    > 3. I have an Intel Centrino sticker on the keyboard. It has confused me to I have a Core 2 Duo or Centrino.
I have a laptop equipped Satellite of the Intel Core 2 DUO T8100 (2 .1GHz) CPU and I ve got the same Intel Centrino sticker.
The Centrino sticker means that the processor supports this technology, but this does not mean that it's Centrino processor.

  • Can Qosmio F20 - I put the CPU?

Like all games that we need 2.4 GHz or more.

You can upgrade the processor, but in your case I wouldn't have that.

A newer or faster CPU produces more heat than it could perhaps not cooled cooling assembly. In addition, I doubt that the BIOS will support another CPU.

    Hello

Usually the CPU upgrade is not possible because of the connection to the motherboard. I really don't know the details of your device, but if you have the time you can call the service in your country and pick up some info.

By the way: in case something like this is possible you are able to do it alone?

  • Re: Can Satellite P200-036024 - I put the CPU and the GPU?

    Hi all

I had a quick search through the forum and have not found answered this already, so: I have a P200-036024, with the stock Intel Core 2 Duo T7500. I recently updated the RAM and HARD drive, and now I'm interested in upgrading the processor. Exactly what series of processors is compatible with the motherboard, or what is the most powerful CPU I could put in this laptop?

In addition, two other questions before I forget:
    1. the HDMI port on the left of this laptop - is this Type A or Type B (or C)?
    2. If the video card (ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400) can be improved as well?

    Cheers all,.
    DMcG

Upgrade the CPU is a delicate process, the problem is that the BIOS can not recognize the CPU correctly, or the system may overheat.

Your best option would be to look at the other P200 in the same range (the other models PSPB6A-xxxxxx) and use this CPU. This way you can be sure that the CPU is working.

As for the VGA card, its not expandable because the BIOS is designed to work with a particular VGA card, more they use non-standard designs so you can just buy a faster card and install it.

    Hello:

Here is the link to the quickspecs for your model.

    http://h18000.www1.HP.com/products/QuickSpecs/11968_div/11968_div.PDF

Supported processors are listed on page 5.

However, if you have installed the latest update of the BIOS, support has been added for Pentium 4 600 processors.

    http://h20565.www2.HP.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.page/public/PSI/swdDetails/?sp4ts.Oid=402170 & spf_p.tpst = swdMain & spf_p.prp_swdMain=wsrp-navigationalState%3Didx%253D%257CswItem%253Dir_63388_1%257CswEnvOID%253D1093%257CitemLocale%253D%257CswLang%253D%257Cmode%253D5%257Caction%253DdriverDocument & javax.portlet.begCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken & javax.portlet.endCacheTok = com.vignette.cachetoken

I wouldn't not higher that the Pentium 4 650 because in addition, power is too high for the cooling solution manage.

A lot of people want to upgrade his CPU but to be honest, that's not very useful.
A newer or faster CPU costs a lot of money, and maybe it will not work. Also, Toshiba does not support the CPU upgrade.

    Hello

There is also a processor Intel Core Duo... is a feasible way of this upgrade to a Quad Core?

    Cheers in advance!

I can confirm the message posted by Luke.
The upgrade of the GPU is definitely not possible.

    Upgrading CPU is more delicate.
Usually you can remove the CPU from the motherboard but no one can say how the laptop would go after these updates.
The main issue may be the higher heat dissipation which would be created by stringer CPU. The higher temperature may affect the functionality of the laptop.
In addition, there could be a problem of compatibility between the BIOS and the new processor.

The BIOS was not designed and tested not with different CPU and this could be a problem.

  • Can Portege R400 - I use another CPU on the new motherboard

My motherboard is fried, and I ordered a new motherboard from a supplier.
My question is; I could use another treatment.

Well, generally upgrading the CPU isn't really easily on laptop motherboards.

First, you will need to ensure that the new processor would be in line with the socket. Then you need to check if the motherboard chipset would support the new processor.
Finally, there could be a problem with the BIOS of the motherboard.
The point is that the BIOS has not been tested with the other s CPU and so nobody will be able to tell if your laptop would go without problem after these updates.

    Thank you

    Hello!

Just a question: why do you think an upgrade of CPU so just got this laptop? Why you didn t buy a laptop with Pentium processor?

In any case, an upgrade of the CPU is not supported and you will lose the warranty. In addition, I think that the BIOS and motherboard do not work with the other CPU.
