    Hey stevpw65,

It is not possible to rip DVD using Windows Media Player. You must use a program designed to legally to copy files from a DVD to a computer.

Unlike the DVD, you can rip a CD using the player. Information is available here.

    Extract music from a CD

Please use your favorite search engine and browse for a DVD ripper software which can be used for this purpose.

  • When you use Windows Media Center on the Xbox 360 DVD have not given chapter.

After finally finding many questions I have my Xbox Media Extender and running upward and only this question left.

I'm ripping my DVD to single file .vob she seems to like and plays very well, but it is only with the file movie and nothing else in the record.  How the XBOX sees it, the bed and he plays very well.  However I have no control outside the break and if I restart it takes over the job.

Now if I rip my DVD with the .bup .ifo files in this folder the XBOX instantly he shoots in the list of the DVD and it will not play.

When I use Windows Media Center on my PC it preforms even when the film is in the folder.  Then when I add bup and ifo data I can still play, but he has all data in the chapter that I need.  Shows all the chapters, allows me to jump as I please.

How can I get my XBOX to behave like my PC?  I have to remove these 4 files in/out of the folder to see pop in and out of my list of XBOX.  How can I get the XBOX to validate data, so my movies actually have chapters and ignore the controls?

    Thank you

    Chris

    Hello, wilsman00

As mentioned, by changing the VOB files, the data in the chapter are probably damaged. This can be confirmed by putting in a retail DVD in the drive and play directly from the DVD.

  • Burning DVDs with Windows Media Center

Why does take so long to burn a dvd of a movie that I recorded with Windows Media Center Vista?

Is there another way to upload videos/movies recorded with Windows Media Center on a dvd?

I have Windows Vista Ultimate 64.

What determines how long it will take to burn the DVD?

The following factors play a role in how long it will take to burn a DVD:

    • Available system resources on your computer. The speed of your computer processor, the amount of available disk space and amount of RAM play a role in determining how long it will take to encode the video and burn it to a DVD.

    • The speed of your DVD burner, as well as the type of recordable DVD media you are using. A faster DVD burner with faster recordable DVDs results in a decreased once burning, compared to burning a DVD with a DVD burner slower more slowly the recordable DVD.

    • The length of the video on the DVD. When you use Windows Media Center to create a DVD, all the video and audio must be converted to a file format audio and video that a DVD player can decode and play. Long videos take longer to burn.

You can include digital images and music on the DVD when creating a slide show. Photos and music are encoded in the MPEG-2 and Dolby audio, Digital video format and consequently, they will increase the time it takes to create and burn slide show DVD.

In a previous question, I asked where I could buy an installation DVD containing Windows Media Center for Windows 7 ultimate 64-bit.  One person responded with information about obtaining a Windows 7 DVD.

Media Center comes on one DVD Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, or on a separate DVD?  If on a separate DVD, anyone know where I can buy one (with legitimate key)?

For 5 years, Microsoft made it fairly easy for users of the Windows 7 operating system to get reinstall media. If you have lost your support disc or installation retail collection; either it has been damaged or defective; You can download a copy of the edition that you have licensed from a membership site called Digital River. More recently, Microsoft ended the availability to reinstall media that you can download as a. File ISO in Digital River, which is a digital reproduction of an optical disc.

It was particularly convenient for people who could not easily get the manufacturer's recovery media, did not want to pay the fees required to get or preferred a clean configuration without the software packaged manufacturers or even a recovery partition does not work. It's easy to use, all you had to do was reinstall and reactivate using the product key located on the certificate of authenticity and download all the drivers on the manufacturers website.

Given that this option is no longer available, what are your options? See the article for more details:

    1. you will need to re-run the TV installation for the EPG again and you will need to get
the new cablecard paired with your tuner.

    2. I had replaced dying standards from the same provider without loss of the
ability to display existing records. I hope that you will have no problems.

    2. after are burning the DVDs in which application you trying to play?

I suspect that the captions are already burned in DVD, at this point in time we can cross check if the option is set to display captions.
To enable or disable subtitles for DVD
    a. on the Windows Media Center start screen, navigate to tasks, click settings, click DVD and then click subtitle.
    b. click the plus (+) and minus (-) buttons to select power off or when cut, and then click Save.

  • Low Audio when using Windows Media Center

Hello world.  I have a question.  When I play a movie DVD or CD or anything audio Windows Media Center on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit Edition.  The Audio output is always half of what it is in other programs.

For example.  When I play music with windows media player, I let my volume of the speaker to about 2.5.  If I play a DVD movie on my computer, I put the volume on the speakers until about 5 # in order to hear the movie.  Then when I return to windows media player volume is very strong (of course because I turned it upward).

I checked all the audio properties (on the PC under windows), but I can't seem to get the audio level as well as the rest of the Windows Media Center computer?

No one knows what it wrong here?

    Thank you

    Hi karozans,

    Thanks for posting answers.microsoft.com

Make sure the appropriate selections are made in the DVD settings and codecs are correct for the file that is being read...

This is a lot of information on Windows Media Center, and the second link is information about the codecs.

    http://www.Microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/FAQ/codec.mspx

There are many different CODECS out there and search online, using your favorite search engine like www.live.com to "VISTA CODEC PACKS" can find the codec that you need to improve the sound on the videos that are currently playing.  When the right codec also be determine some codec download from a reliable source as the codecs are not created by Microsoft and can be obtained by a third party.

Please let us know if there is more need information on this issue, or if you do not download the correct codec for the system and the problem persists, please post this information in the forum as well.

  • Unable to sync music using Windows Media Center and Windows Media Player will not open

Media Center will not sync music!

I recently opened Media Center and I had no music in the library. I have constantly played music from the library so I didn't know what is happening. When I try installing the library again once it tells me that a necessary component for Windows Media Center is not available. I have not changed or downloaded something different. I went to check if Windows media Player is the multimedia file sharing. The message I get from that is, basically, that something is missing.  Now my Windows Media Player is not even opened. I wonder if my Zune Player (80 GB) has nothing to do with the problem. I charge my player when this has happened, but I do this all the time so I am at a loss. I went to the page "problem reports and Solution." It is the symbol of the Media Center window and says that the problem is caused by Windows. The solution is to update to windows; which I am fully updated. I tried to restore the system to an earlier date, but that doesn't work anymore. I'm at a loss to know what being of any help would be appreciated.

As a side note video playback, TV and photos also works very well in Media Center.

    Thank you

    Shay

    Thank you, Shay

    Hi Shay,

You can try the following steps and check the result:

Step 1: Run the sfc scan to repair system files missing and corrupt.

    a. Click Start, click programs, accessories principally made, right click Guest and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click on allow.

    b. type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow

The sfc/scannow command. analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

For more information, visit this link:http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

If the problem persists, try the reconstruction of the library:

Step 2: Library rebuild Windows media player.

This problem can also occur if the library is corrupted. Rebuild the library and check if this solves the problem.

    Follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. click on start, run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player, and then click OK.

    3. Select all the files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note: You don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. click on start, run, type % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

    3. Select the Media Player folder, and then click on Delete on the file menu.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

  • Problems to use Windows Media Center

Before upgrading to Windows 7, I have not had any problems. Now, this "Windows Media Center" drives me crazy.  It shows its ugly face, whenever I click on anything whatsoever. I can't seem to find any help in addition to the connection to the Internet Explorer, I did, but a 'Unable to Launch' error.  Yes! I'd like to THROW it... I was fine without it. Is it possible to remove it from my computer?

There, can someone help me?  I would really appreciate it.

    Hi Kimberley,.

Thanks for posting your question on the forum of the Microsoft community.

I would like to know some information about the problem so that we can help you better.

    1. What is the full error message when you say, "could not start"?
    2. have you made any changes to your computer hardware or software?

I would suggest trying the following methods and check if it helps.

    Method 1:
Run this Microsoft fixit and check the issue.
    Reference:
Difficulty of broken desktop shortcuts and common system maintenance tasks
    http://support.Microsoft.com/mats/system_maintenance_for_windows

If this does not help, then use method 2.

    Method 2:
Please use the suggestions provided in this Microsoft article knowledge based and check.
    Reference:
When you run an .exe on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 computer file, the file can start another program

Note: Serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. • Windows 7. How can I remove the Windows media Center programs recommended in the "Open with" section?

I select which application (Word, Excel, etc.), they all open with Windows Media Center. This happened recently and I don't know how to cancel it. I see the Windows Media Center in the 'Open with' box where it asks you to "choose the program you want to use to open this file. How I remove it from the section "recommended programs"? I see that Internet Explorer is also in this section. What should be there as well? What actually belongs to this group?

"I see the Windows Media Center in the 'Open with' box where it asks you to"choose the program you want to use to open this file"." How I remove it from the section "recommended programs"? »

A pretty easy regedit should remove an application from the section "recommended programs". Here is a procedure step by step on how to do it. Unfortunately, I don't think that will solve your problem. What seems actually to have occurred is either your .lnk .exe (or maybe both) have inadvertently been associated with WMC. Out of the list of the programs recommended for the open with dialog box will not change. In fact, the next time that you open the program, it will open in WMC and add automatically return a program recommended in the open with dialog box.

There really should not be whatever it is that you open a .lnk or .exe with because you really don't want to open them... you want to run. To determine if the .lnk or .exe associated with wrong, you can either watch the extension file associations in the control panel > programs, or you can see if it's a shortcut or the actual executable file that does. Need to know who, or if she is at the same time, in order to complete the fix.

Once you know it, this link will show you how to restore the default file type link. Matter of fact, now that I think of it, it wouldn't hurt to just restore default settings for .lnk and .exe.

"I see that Internet Explorer is also in this section. What should be there as well? What actually belongs to this group? " I may be wrong, but I do not believe, you should really see anything in the open with dialog for a .lnk or .exe. Again, you don't want to really not open them... you want to run. The shortcut .lnk file goes to the executable and runs the .exe program.
