  You can create this aspect in the following way, starting with two adjacent roads/original objects having a common border in the form of a path segment (together):

  (1) create a black brush with forms you want to see in reversed colors / color on each side of the border.

  It's the basis of your colour;

  (2) select each of the paths originals and Ctrl / Cmd + C + B to create a copy behind, and then apply the fill of the other path to the copy, which will be hidden under his original copy;

  (3) ShiftClick the / each segment of the common border and Ctrl / Cmd + J if more than one, to create a path of the border, and then apply the brush of 1)

  This should give you a black color on top the traces of origin;

  (4) select traces of origin (ShiftClick, not ClickDrag) and the path of the border, and in the transparency palette dialog box click the opacity with Clip mask and mask Invert unchecked.

  This should give you the look you want, color/coloring reverse paths copy showing where the originals are hidden by the darkness of the brush border.

  The colors/color may be solid, patterns, whatever.

  Here's a simplified image based on a simple brush and showing two forms of original colors, and then copies below dragged a bit upward, then with the path of border brushed on top, and then the resulting color flipping.

  I suggest that you look at this addon for APEX. I use it for custom applications, I'm developing for users (out of hours), and they love the ability to layout using CSS and jquery-ui.

  Yes the colors and others are examples of themeroller standard jquery, but YOU as a developer can go out and do the CUSTOM themes on the roll of jquery theme site and then load into your application.

• Can someone tell me how this gradient were made

  A client that sent me this file and for the life of me I don't know how they did this gradient. Doesn't ' t seems to be a fill gradient - there is no link - it is not one of these 'non-native arts"- is not in a clipping path - not an effect... Well I don't have never seen anything like this. All I can do is change the color and transparency but can't seem to change the gradient.

  It is an opacity mask, select the object, and go in the transparency Panel, you see the gradient in black? now the option click on this

  

  Now yo are the real gradient.

  

  It was made that way because it is easy to change the color, in this case PMS 1807 to any other with a single clik.
